This. If anything, having great hardware is probably not an advantage. How do you think they take those screenshots/make those battlereports? They're going to do it on the best possible machine. What they probably want to know is a) what is the typical computer like (they probably already have a sense) and b) how does it run on that.

shouldnt that like guarentee me a 2nd key? Holy cow that's smoking high-tech. How much did a rig like that cost you? Do any games actually support and improve with a triple SLI?
|
Lots of things support triple SLI, but you get SERIOUSLY diminishing returns once you get past dual SLI. Probably a 1-2% increase in framerate over the dual SLI. It's like that for ATI cards as well, once you hit two, you've pretty much maxed out your fps.

My boner is still popped, any advice?

lol i wish having a fast machine would guarantee me a beta key. Nonetheless i'm sooo excited for this.

what kind of numbers were in BW and WC3 betas?
|
I'm not sure about SC/BW, but the original War3 beta didn't have that many players. In fact, they allowed each CD key to hold 5 people on it, instead of one, to increase the players (people stopped playing). In the TFT beta, however, there were 10's and 10's of thousands of players.
They've already been using the term "wave", so expect maybe like 5000 at first, then another 5000, then another 10000, etc...
Who knows for sure though.

I just hope they don't rush through the beta or any other part of development just to release it this year. Hopefully, they will take the beta as seriously as they have the rest of the dev time.

I doubt they'd rush it, but don't expect the balance to be perfect upon release.

To be honest I doubt blanace will be perfect until the third part of the trilogy.

I doubt it will be perfect then, either. But it'll be close the whole way throughout Even War3, which people think is imbalanced, never had much more than a ~4ish% higher win ratio (54% to 46%) for one race over another. I think we can expect numbers similar to that; however, there will always whiners who blame imbalance over their own lack of skill.
And of course the metagame will be developing rapidly. "Impossible to beat" strategies will form, then its counters, then counter-counters etc... Personally, I like those times, because there's usually a lot of room for creativity!

Wasn't sure where to post this, and I didn't feel it warranted its own thread, but Europe now has their own version of the new Battle.net accounts.

So yeah, more opt-ins incoming. It might not mean much for the start of the North American beta, but it is progress!

Yeah you're right, I misread the news. The quote is they are now "completely live", whatever that means. My bad.
