There was a big announcement about it on the World of Warcraft game launcher (the window that pops up right before you log on into your game account). So expect to see a LOT of WoW players opting in.

I seriously doubt not even a single person out of the 11.5 million people that play WoW has no experience in RTS games. Infact, I think there are a few people on TL that are WoW players, not sure.

I don't think Blizzard is stupid enough to release a game for beta that they've been working on for this long if they're not satisfied with it. If I recall correctly Blizzard has also stated that their aim is to release one game a year, and with the latest wow expansion being their latest 'game' in November last year I'm guessing for a SC2 release this year. I don't...think they have to be "satisfied" with a game to go into beta with it, since beta's where they really balance it out and polish it. They've never been worried about release dates before, and I don't think they'll start now with SC2. Seriously, they don't care about people's opinion of their "it's ready when it's ready" mantra. From an interview: Bob Colayco -- There’s no schedule that dictates how much time can or can’t pass between chapters of the trilogy. We’ll take as long as we need to in order to make each chapter feel just as epic and exciting as the last one. The point of this decision was to go big with each campaign, delivering more cutscenes (both in-game and pre-rendered), more interactive sets to explore, more characters to interact with, more meaningful choices in missions and technology, more everything than would have been possible otherwise. We’re going to make sure each chapter hits all the right notes and delivers the epic and awesome experience that is expected from a StarCraft game.

The Comic Contest ends in August: From the "Vespene Laughs Comic Contest" rules BlizzCON lasts from the 21 'til 22. of August in 2009.[...] the Contest beginning October 15, 2008 through August 31, 2009 [...] And the Beta will release in August. I think they'll put it all together at BlizzCON.
