Now Nyvone, do your thing your way with your own style. I'm hoping to get more details... the design element is incredibly interesting and your posts perhaps more than anything else recently has revitalized my need to understand this game as it develops. Back on target... favorite quotes of Greth's article: "No time to think. A hatchery, drones and an overlord – I know this. I selected the drones, cloned them to the best of my ability, I went to the hatchery to build a drone, but I had already pressed ‘S,D’ and it was already building." "you develop instincts. A game becomes familiar, you start to glaze over things, shapes and forms are instantly recognised. A certain rhythm develops, a certain feel. If Starcraft had one thing, it was fluency" The hilarious piece about "clutching my old Starcraft vanilla manual in a firm foetal position" "I only played for an hour or three, but this game got into my head. I didn’t stop playing in my mind" "This guy works at Blizzard, he’s the community manager of the damned game. And he had to be removed from the computer by French staff members of the convention centre before he would stop playing. And I knew exactly how he felt."

Or is his message we should just stop caring so much and realize SC2 is 'just a game'?

How is that proving that Blizzard indeed has this very unique skill no other dev has? Or is his message we should just stop caring so much and realize SC2 is 'just a game'? I have to agree. I understand that he had lots of fun playing a new game. For the most part though, it seemed the article didn't address any of the concerns that the community has with SC2. Well-written, but feels like just a lot of fluffy pathos.

I think his point is that most of our judgments are tin-foil-hat style....pretty baseless. He's saying that he played the game and it was an entirely different experience than he expected based on internet rumormongering and other associated bullcrap.

The long beginning put your mind into the writer, and he really got you to think the way he must have thought when he was at WWI. VERY well written, Greth. Got me even MORE excited for SC2. I don't really mind if this game has more of a micro/macro ratio compared to SC1, because I know it won't be like WC3's microing (sitting in one space, cycling through all of your units spamming spells). It will be more tactical positioning, and retreating and charging at the right time, and more thinking of course :-).

This is SC2 its a whole new ball game, its like progressing from tennis back in the 1930's to today's standards!! From Wood to Alloys, from skin to compounds that have ridiculously long scientific games. Fuck I am excited.

Congratulations on getting out of the fanboy group-think. It sounds like you were very immersed in all that negativity of the anti-mbs crowd, but you are starting to realise the truth. Well done. Regards, Teapot

P.s. More fun to pull of an amazing flank dodge sneak attack drop psi storm ambush than out macro as well!
