SC2 General Discussion![[image loading]](https://memegenerator.net/img/instances/400x/63180149/hell-its-about-time.jpg)
Let's discuss everything that is SC2 cause it's been a decade and Starcraft is awesome.
For instance, did you know world famous DJ and co-host of "A State of Trance", Ruben De Ronde, was a teamliquid fan?

The NA ladder is so messed up.
At Diamond 1 there are so many Masters players who tanked their MMR down to 4k just to play easy games. Its so frustrating and annoying.

Its Serral, he actually managed to win a tournament in Korea. And a god damn Blizzcon.

My game has been freezing for 5 seconds every few seconds. It is unplayable. Internet is super fast. Playing on a 2015 macbook pro. All lowest settings. Never had this problem until recently. Maybe is Catalina? If anyone has any ideas lmk.

Hello sir! Do you have a minute to speak of our lord and savior, Serral?

Have you guys heard of or know the 51% WL ratio trick to get high mmr consistently per season? The idea is that as long as you have a wl ratio of above 50% you can gain as much mmr per season as you want, the only catch is that you have to play a gazillion games but over time your mmr will grow.
If you are 15W-14L your mmr will probably only have increased by 25 or so points but if you are 670W-645L all the sudden you have gained 400 mmr...

this is pretty low-level trolling
you should have picked serral vs rogue, where rogue is obviously the winner

I randomly thought of what the game would be like if shield batteries could raise and lower like supply depots, and even though it sounds kinda dumb maybe the idea has some merits?
The main benefit would be for PvP, where you could full wall-off your main with a shield battery and not randomly lose the game to a few adepts squeezing in before you can react. In PvZ I guess it would help against ling runbys (though players would undoubtedly forget to raise them just like depots from time to time), and avoid scenarios where your zealot is slightly misplaced and all the lings squeeze in. In PvT it probably doesn't do much other than the fact that you could place shield batteries in the middle of your mineral line rather than on the side and lower them to avoid hindering your economy too much. I don't think there's too many ways to abuse it either (raising and lowering pylons would be cannon rush nightmares).
So yeah random showerthought about shield batteries.

This will work to a small extent but only if you're under-rated to begin with for lack of games.
If you're not the best on the ladder, you'll start to hit people of a higher MMR and won't maintain >50% winrate.
If you keep playing against people of a specific MMR - say if there's a shortage of people with equal or better MMR to match against - then every win against those weaker opponents will give you less MMR gain than the one before it. The more MMR that you gain in this fashion, the more you'll lose when you do drop a game.
Basically these kind of systems expect you to win a certain percentage of your games based on your rating and your opponents rating. If you're not winning more than that percentage then you won't gain rating. In extremes you can win almost every game but lose MMR or you can lose almost every game but gain MMR because those wins and losses happened against people with the right ratings.

So yeah random showerthought about shield batteries. I quite like it, it’s not as if you have tons of the things around and it would open up some options for Protoss early game.
Can’t say exactly what it would open, but little windows could be found in PvZ. Say you could send one extra adept early doors and full wall behind it.
The kind of change that would open little options for really good players and be an interesting quality of life change for us mere plebs.
I’d assume the battery doesn’t actually recharge shields when it’s retracted underground in this idea?

This is the only SC2 General Discussion thread I could find!
Is there any up and coming SC2 talent?
