Regardless of the situation, we will still action upon "dead game" comments. As this is a sensitive issue for SC2 fans, please do not come into this thread and talk about SC2 players switching over to BW. This thread is also not about bashing Blizzard, David Kim, or the WCS system. |

I will only promote the only positive part of your post saying that ZombieGrub is very good at casting and very knowledgeable at SCII. She's fairly high level and her stream is awesome.

While all of this may be true, expressing your opinion here on a public forum is not welcome. Please refrain from posting your own opinions and instead only use TeamLiquid.net/Blizzard approved opinions, whilst also remembering what is acceptable behavior for moderators is not neceesserally acceptable behavior for you. Thanks I remember, when SC2 was coming out (or before it came out), TL was doing something where if you preordered the game through their link they would get a bonus or something. At this moment I thought, that's unfortunate, the main community site has tied its interest to the profits of Blizzard. And to me, it kind of explains the somewhat aggressive behavior towards some kinds of criticism.
That was kind of my point to be honest, a community is only as strong as it's members, and whilst we are all hurting and are going to miss Proleague a lot, thier are clearly some events that have led up the fall in viewership and sponsors losing interest. Stopping people from addressing those issues just seems daft to me. Obviously some people are gonna take it too far and just mega troll, and those people should be dealt with. But the vast majority can discuss things in a sensible manner, after all this is TL, not Reddit.

Good job foreigners, your whining for free money and easy 'competition' killed the one scene that rules them all. Awesome.

Haven't seen any of that. All I care about is game quality, that's why I've been here since the BW days and I know for a fact there's many others who feel the same way.

Blizzard needs to give those talented SC2 Koreans a chance somehow, some way. Too many people still watch starcraft and a whole lot play it too. Please help these insanely hard working kids a chance to make money. Find a way Blizzard!!

the "hardcore" games with a higher skill cap that allow for extremely high level competitive play (see: rts, arena fps, etc)? well they're hard as shit, nobody wants to play them, so there's no player base and no investment into the pro scene, even though they might make for objectively "better" esports.
brood war solved this problem with the UMS mode, where the casuals were literally playing a completely different game than the pros. but imo even if sc2 hadn't fucked up the custom game section at the beginning, the desire for these types of minigames just isn't as high as it used to.
Yeah, I think you're absolutely right. The threshold for actually getting into the game as a new player is incredibly high, but at the same time, it would be awesome to have an extremely high skill cap. The thing is: Blizzard tried to increase the skill cap by making units more complicated, making the game more volatile. I think in the best world they would have increased the skill cap by doing things like increasing the size and amount of area a player needs to control in the late game,,,,increases in scale rather than complexity.
It reminds me of football (soccer) in a way. Any little kid can go out and kick a soccer ball (or any little gamer can go kill minions in LOL or Dota if you will). Any group of kids can set up some goals and start a game. Then as the kid gets better the scale of the game increases, rather than the basic concept of the game. Blizzard never gave platform for new players to relate to and have fun with the game, before having players step into the competitive aspects of the game. The whole design of SC2 was based on complexity in the first place, which means 1) its not particularly fun to learn 2) it's not particularly fun to watch if you haven't learned it.
I think the problem in general is that the entry way into SC2 was BW, rather than a fun, easy concept. Most balance discussion I feel is rather beside the fact.

so i guess blizzcon is going to be the last hurrah. Glad i get to be in attendance as last year was really exciting to see live.

after the initial shock has settled I think this MIGHT even be positive in the long run for sc2. the players previously playing under the KesPa regime are now free to stream or interact with the community in general which makes the fans able to relate more with the players. MAYBE this could be the beginning of sc2s return to former glory (maybe I'm to positive/naive here )

"Fire David Kim" and variations thereof is in no way "addressing the issue". It's entitled childish bullshit. Scapegoating a public face of the project doesn't help anything and just reduces the actual issue to tabloid level debate. I agree that TL is somehow overly sensitive about Blizzard criticism, but anyone shouting negative things about DK (or previously Dustin Browder) is just begging to not be taken seriously.

So LOTV did survive one year, to be honest I expected this from the beginning. The addon did literally everything wrong.
But I still don't think that it is Blizzards duty to invest more into the scene. SC2 is dying, they made their money and lots of people were entertained over the past years. There is no real reason for them to keep supporting the (competitive) scene.

In what way is this an issue with regards this topic?
The issue is that in KR viewership has fallen and therefore sponsors aren't interested and therefore Proleague is financially not viable. Their are underlying factors as to why viewers aren't watching as much anymore but that is the debate which is being stifled, and some are just disregarding that request and are shit-posting stuff like 'fire David Kim'. Which in turn leads to bans and further reduction in the community. We are all here because we like Starcraft, let's not forget that.
