This is a huge deal. It casts a huge cloud over the entire legitimacy of the game itself.

Is this saying he did it in five games?
No, this was in reference to Gerrard and the other guys who were arrested last year.

The article just says they have been prosecuted, so I assume the trial has not been held yet.

So far the only players involved in any sort of SC2 match-fixing are old school ESF players that sort of lack professionalism compared to Kespa teams. I know that life was on KT but that was a very recent thing, relatively speaking. I dont think any player who spent their whole career on KT, SKT, Jin Air, or Samsung will be implicated in this way, and right now these are basically all of the best players on the scene anyways.
The other thing is that match-fixing really happens more in games that seemingly dont matter as much, like random proleague matches, low-rounds in bigger tourneys, or in smaller tourneys that have a small prize pool. I don't think anyone is insane enough to throw a GSL Ro8 match, for example.

It sounds like a copout to me. Using this event as an excuse. It doesn't really bother me so much. If someone "throws" I just assume they are really bad.
I do think that perhaps the sweep it under the rug attitude that I see circling around among casters in Korea is not the right way to go. Match fixing needs to be exposed entirely to kill it.
edit: misread

If the cheating players and their backers are being caught and banned for life (and suffering whatever other criminal penalties that have been levied) then that would be a decisive deterrent against further cheating. That's the hope at least.

The point of time when you committed the crime is all that counts. No matter how old you are when you get charged, or are brought to trial
Edit: I actually only know about German law, but most law systems, especially in asia are modelled after the European continetal law system and copied France and Germany.

Seems like you're profiling anyone who wasn't on a KeSPA team before to be a potential match fixer. Being on KeSPA doesn't suddenly make you a innocent little flower.

It's his perception of things that matters. And such a youngster is likely to be the target of match-fixing brokers

I feel sorry for him still. him and his family... Well, if the match fixing occurred when he was still a minor, that could drastically change the trial/sentencing prospects. Not sure how it works in Korea, though.

the original match fixing scandal involved so many kespa teams and veteran players on teams... including airforce ace

Just heard from Neuro the zerg player that Life loves to gamble. That he loves blackjack roulette etc. He even lost 40.000 in one night at that games.
Maybe life betted on others games and not himself? Or maybe he has a terrible gamble addiction and he needed that money because all of his money is already gone?
