Please use this thread to discuss the first level of the LotV epilogue campaign, "Into the Void". Clearly mark spoilers using the spoiler tag. Plot events that occurred in the prologue or LotV campaign do not need to be spoilered.

Feel free to use this thread to ask any simple questions you might have about the mission, or for tips/help/advice on completing the mission.

Probably the most enjoyable epilogue mission. The stukov line at the end was AMAZING. Such a great nod at BW :D. Its not particularly difficult, just void ray inmo stalk and clear everything piece by piece and take all possible expands, pretty easy on brutal just long

One of favourite missions in the entire game, you have a nice sense of progression as you take the map and fighting with the Terran/Zerg allies is fun, stuff always happening around the map. I have to agree that it was rather easy though, especially with 3 bases so you have basically infinite resources.
Roses are red, Violets are blue, 4/7/7.

I'm just wondering if there is a way change your war council and solar core options for this mission. Or are we stuck with what the game gives you?

I just massed Taldarim void rays and used spear of aduns abilities and slowly expanded to all three available bases. The three solar lance strikes and time stop. Kept warping in sentinels to support raynor and kerrigan where they were fighting at that moment. At the end ive had about 30-40 void rays so everything just evaporated...just watch out for seeker missiles.

Since I did mass void rays in the previous mission, I decided to do a ground army for this.

Dark templar immortals + stalkers and a mix of zealots/tal darim sentries (they give you huge range) was plenty to cruise through this mission at a good pace.

The immortals wreck the hybrid's they send at you, just volley like 10 of their shadow cannon things and it falls over before it can cast anything.

I liked this mission a lot.

Is there an optimal composition for getting all 3 mission achievements (not including any mastery achievements)? I try massing Void rays for their mobility and focusing power but I cant seem to close out their mission before the 6th Void Thresher. Any suggestions for fastest completion comp?

*Edit* Nvm, 25 3-0-3 Voids can do anything if you dont suicide them into the last part without clearing the two side camps first.

A bit sad you can't choose your upgrades for this mission. I wanted my dragoons

Stukov was like ' yo I'm gonna attack' then runs head first into enemies with like 4 units and dies. A true hero

Mastery achievement is quiet hard but funny. Had to save/load about 20 times...

If anyone wants to cheese this mission and finish it super fast, you can easily sneak a Phoenix through the middle of the map and camp it near Narud out of his attack range, but you'll still have vision of him. Just Solar Lance him while making like 8 Robos and a bunch of Gateways and Pylons, then Time Stop, warp in a Pylon next to him, and focus him with a round of Zealots and Dark Immortals (don't forget to use their spells) and use Barrier to get some extra damage in, then he should be a Solar Lance or 2 from death if he isn't already dead.

About the Mastery, is it 3 of any type of building? Do you have to go 1 base carrier?

Three types of the corruption (the thing that spawns the aoe damage gas). You can get one expand - I wasn't sure if the lead-in void corruption counted against it or not, but you only need to kill two on the main map to get your expand, then you can kamikaze in a control group of carriers against Amon.

Do you have a picture of approximately where you have to go for this? Would love to cheese it and get the mastery done while sitting back and defending to make it a bit easier in case I can't get it when I try tonight with some other strats.

Most simple way to finish quickly (+ Mastery Achivement) is using DTs.

Just rush out one DT and sneak him all up to the top. You only have to walk around 2 detection units for this and can collect some gas around the map.
The you use the lasers to eliminate the 2 overseers infront of Narud and let the DT finish the corruption-pylon-thing. Just be careful since a Raven patrols from the left side and an Overseer from bottom.
Then warp in a pylon right above the right entrance (on the right side of the Narud-Plateau out of reach of the Mutaliks/Carriers). If you need more gas you can warp in a zealot on the lowground there (3x collectible gas).
Then you warp in 9 more DTs (not more than 10 can attack Narud at a time) and Immortals if you have too much minerals.
Finally use time-stop and kill Narud.

You don't need more units to defend your base in that timeframe than you get at the start, so just build the DT-Shrine and some Gateways.

Works also on brutal and is probably doable in under 10 minutes.

That sounds like another neat method, thanks. Gonna give these a shot tonight and knock out 1 and 3. I think Purity of Essence may go undone for a while until I decide to sit there and try it over and over and memorize every single attack and get better at macroing consistently.

Finally finishing up some achievements. Tried getting mass carrier from the second base but it didn't register, probably killed to much void stuctures.

Easiest way to do this mastery achievement for me it was just warp in a phoenix, fly along the right most border of the map, you should not encounter anything all the way to top right corner. Then Time Stop towards Narud, flying past their bases and stop just out of range of his beam. The auto repair will keep it alive. I couldn't target Narud with Solar Lance from here like Zains said, maybe they increased his range?

Anyway after that just keep cozy in your one little base, defend some void trashers, make sure your allies armies get thinned down a bit first so they don't kill the void structures after you killed the trasher. Then just build 20 warpgates, save the game, fly in with the phoenix, time stop, throw down the pylon in Naruds face, warp in 20 DT's and smack him. Be sure to use the shield spell the second that Time Stop is over.

You can do it with 10 DTs but it requires a lance and very good positioning for maximum damage during time stop.

My favourite mission. Sometimes when I'm agitated I play this mission to calm myself. Mass carriers is my favourite method, I try not to let any die. Must have beaten it at least 10 times on brutal.

I guess I didn't use any of the fancy tricks to do the mastery, just brute force. I killed the minimum number of those void object things to get an expansion (which is exactly 3), then I massed phoenix and carriers. I moved them very carefully through the map, trying hard to avoid paths with those void objects, just slowly crawling and killing units, then sitting and healing. It was hard because I had to pull my ships back to defend often, and pulling them back meant backtracking through the same void-avoiding paths as I pushed them through. But when I get to Narud, I just time stop, hit him with the lances, and focus him down, using the shielding ability as soon as time stop expires.

That's how I feel about the second epilogue mission. That's my favourite mission in the whole LotV campaign, even though it's really a ripoff of a WoL mission. That kinda says something about how I feel about the mission design in WoL vs LotV.

I have a problem with this mission. Everytime i use freeze, all units on map get frozen, which is allright. But the units in fog of war (areas that are black) will remain frozen until i reach them. The problem is that this big hybrid always gets stuck in those units so the only way for me to finish this mission is to not use freeze. Which i would like to use. Any ideas how to solve this ?

I did some further testing and it doesn't happen every time. I am trying to figure out whether it matters what i am looking at the time i use the ability or if it depends on something else. I am having no luck so far. This is the video showing how it happens ..
