I don't know if we have to be happy or scared.

Well now that they released their delevopment update that means we'll get the maps this week, which is kinda cool

Well, there goes my reason to play SC2 again It was nice to have small action-packed maps again, now we'll be back to nr15 3-base yawn fests.

Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. I'll be looking forward to economy changes in LotV, hopefully it'll improve the pacing of the game.

I was so excited to get my paws on this game again after finals week, too.

I too think it's more fun on smaller maps. I'm a diamond Zerg in EU. I think I loose more to Protoss and Terran on the smaller maps, but I don't mind, since it's more fun with the action. I vetoed out the bigger maps in the map pool.

I'm kinda just rolling my eyes at all the drama queens rejoicing that Dreampool's going out. To be honest, my laddering experience honestly hasn't changed that much, though I think this will be the first ladder season ever that I won't hit master league because the ladder is just too wonky and all the other diamond-leaguers I run into are all multiple-time masters as well. I do play random race, so expecting the unexpected and playing for fun are no strangers to me.

All in all, this is only a game to us common folk. The ladder offseason is meant to throw an interesting wrench into what we already know, and it's really silly to get mad and complain about it.

So because you are okay with Dreampool it is silly for other people to not like it? Opinions of maps aren't just for the most top tier players, even a Bronze league player can legitimately not like maps. I haven't been able to play Starcraft II for almost a year now due to injury, but I have really wanted to come back and see if I can play again but I have been waiting for this ladder season to end because I just don't care for the maps in Dreampool, is that silly too?

I enjoyed a few of the maps again, but I can't say I did much other than cheesing this season. Lots of spine crawler rushes, 10-pools, 15 hatch 14 pool into speedling all ins, and roach rushes with burrow. I'm trying to create a custom map that's a copy of Xelnaga Caverns in the middle, but with a backdoor natural and additional bases outside of the former boundaries of the map. I haven't had a whole lot of luck getting it to feel right so far.

The fact that the novelty wore off doesn't mean it wasn't a good thing while it lasted.

Doesn't seem to me like the dreampool is reason enough to not play starcraft at all. It would be an exaggeration to say that nothing productive or fun can come of it.

tbh i personally have played less than 10 games this season precisely because of how bad the dreampool is, i only started playing late 2012 so i never even got the nostalgia from terrible maps like Xnc etc and the maps i do recognise were just flat out boring because iv played them so much before (ie daybreak)
honestly if wed had early hots maps ida been happier, ww was awesome and i even liked belshire
heck in my clan literally 3 people out of 10 have played more than 20 games this season XD
so there are definatley people that thing its a reason not to play

NA is down, but for Hearthstone and other games too i presume, maybe the map change is that serious.

I really don't get the hoopla over the map pool. I'm playing a hacker every other game, that a blind person could know is hacking, yet they will be playing for life. How is someone supposed to care about having to play on maps that aren't even bad? I'm so confused.

This map pool is better than the previous season, even if old. Foxtrot sucks, Nimbus sucks, Catallena sucks, Merry go round sucks, and a Bronze league player could beat a GM on Overgrowth if they accidentally made some swarm hosts.

The dreampool has turned into a scape goat, when I'm not even sure it's a problem to begin with. You want problems, how about planning to spend 1.6 million on WCS and not even being able to excite anyone outside of a handful of Koreans allowed to take NA spots. That's an incredibly hard feat to pull off, but they managed it. Or the fact that players can stream themselves cheating, yet you would get banned on a Blizz forum if you were to "call them out." And, they will continue laddering. Until they introduce a map without the opponent being a maphacker, I'll be waiting for why I should care.
