I think saying that the mental and strategical side of Starcraft is in some way worth less than the mechanical or raw skill aspect isn't quite fair. Incorrect, even though life is aggressive - he didn't mindgame into weird switches or anything. ForGG had been out of the scene for a long time, so his strategies were not out in the public yet, this gave him a big one time advantage. I'd have to agree that forGG won through mindgames, not through superior mechanics or game sense.

And to the poster above, acting like ForGG hasn't been in WCS/Dreamhack circuit/streaming all day... I don't even.... EVERYONE knows how ForGG plays. He just brought out some fresh builds that made his win that much more impressive.

That was his main weakness in the past.

I will actually watch this finals even though I don't know anything about the Starcrafts anymore.

Did he said something about that after the finals? This would be such a ballsy move considering the face of the game ! Sometimes I wonder how people can come up with such dim things? In what way should not mining save minerals? Do they multiply if you leave them alone? Do they start decomposing if you harvest them?

This is not the first time i see a terran player saving minerals in order to mine easy in the late late game, expecting his opponent will think he mined his half of the map. I think he did that because he knew that he was in a pretty decent position, so he could save these minerals in anticipation of crisis later in the game (knowing that this base was very well defended). I just can't believe he "didn't realise" that he was not mining from that base during all that time. I mean, it's absolutely impossible to zap a base full of minerals, especially at that level.

Considering how scrappy that game was after the swarm hosts appeared and ForGG lost his main army, I don't believe any of the players thought they were in a good spot beyond that point. And given how ForGG was handling several small armies at the same time during most of the game (instead of the huge army with a few harassing squads that we usually see from Terran players), I would not be surprised if he actually did not notice that he was not mining from that base. But then again, i was not in his head during the game ![]()
