Marines/Tanks should come back as the standard for TvZ with possibilities for the Terran to lose his few Medivacs without it being game-ending!
Even though, it's not everybody's preference, I think it's hard to deny that 4M vs Muta/bling definitely has its charm. The issue with the style though is that it completley replaced another cool style, Marine/Tank. But with the introduction of the Lurker, we could actually see both styles in the game. Imagine if terran could go Marine/Tank/Raven vs Lurker heavy play (Siege tanks can outrange Lurkers thus they are better than mines vs them). This would add a lot more diversity to the matchup and add some new micro interaction.
The redesign of the Raven should then be focussed on making this interaction fun. So if PPD is removed it should be replaced with a new ability that has better utiltiy vs Lurker/Ling/Muta. And if zerg transitions from Lurker into more bling focussed play, Ravens shouldn't be totally useless either.
Lurkers are back- I am curious why the Lurker is suddenly viable, when they've been so adamant that it does NOT work. I feel like the spines are quite slow compared to their BW counterpart, but that'll be a balance issue. I still hate the unit design on the unit. I'm curious how it'll work out for sure.
Well Lurker wouldn't be viable if they just copypasted its BW stats, but that was obviously just a lazy excuse from Blizzard. Here it looks like they upped its range and reduced projectile speed to add somewhat more practical countermicro.

Blizzard is not quite there yet - it's actually gotten better for them but they do not have something like Steam backing them up. If valve screws up a feature, they still got that. If Blizzard screws up it hits them a lot harder.
Blizzard makes over $100 million per month on WoW alone. They've got plenty of income to spend if they choose to.

I think the most disappointing thing about LotV so far is the lack of LAN!

I'm very happy with the economy change. Quite frankly, something needed to happen to make SCII not a 3 mining base endgame, and I guess that'll do it.
Not sure on the units, but since I haven't played with them I'll hold my opinion back.

A lot of these changes seem desperate or solutions in search of a problem, 12 starting works? Seems like a good way to undo the effort in fixing the economy side of the game by basically removing the early game.
The lurker seems almost emblematic of the problem, some people are going to love it, but it's not going to be good for the game, just pandering. Space control doesn't exist in a game with so little high ground advantage and the lurker is just downright goofy for spectators outside of small skirmishes.
I hope it grows on me but I'm not really that chuffed about the expansion at the moment.

I really, REALLY hope they don't cave in to whiners and remove half the changes like they did in HotS.
These changes sound fun. Starcraft 2 right now is NOT FUN. Don't ruin fun just to maintain the current balance. I will buy this game is they really keep these changes and actually shake up the game. Screw people that don't want change!

I don't like many of these changes.

You cannot generalize it like that. It's not like they just pocket that money and have it on their bank account...

You think Oracle traps are fun? You place a mine and hope that the enemy will run into it so they get delayed by a coulpe of seconds? Seems like the most boring concept to me, and I am quite convinced that this will not stay at release. Terran honestly didn't need as much as the other races. They should however have given mech-harass (besides banshee) some more love vs zerg/toss in the mid/late game and the Raven should have been redesigned. The new bio unit looks pretty cool while the new mech unit is pretty boring. Zerg definitely got the most aweosme stuff. Of what I am most impressed with so far is the new Roach. I have actually spent a lot of time thinking of sound counterbased solutions to the forcefield, but Blizzard has managed to give the new Roach latergame utility, micropotenital and a counter to forcefields at the same time. This is the best solution I have seen yet.
I feel like the traps could be very fun if it lasted a bit longer. Imagine getting half their army stasised in a battle. Maybe some damage effect would be cool too.

And you could say the same about Steam. It goes both ways. Fact is they have a very large, Billion dollar per year revenue stream. That's not something to dismiss lightly.

Well, Blizzard is certainly trying hard. There are lots and lots of changes, the biggest one being a completely revamped economy that turns the whole game upside down. Skipping the first two minutes and requiring more expansions makes the game more dynamic, but i think the change is too extreme. Regarding the new and changed units, the only one I really like is the Lurker, while everything else is somewhere between lame and ok. Sadly, they didn't have the balls to remove any units. They keep talking about opportunities for creativity and exciting micro, but keep units like the Colossus, Corruptor, Swarm Host and Thor in the game.

With steam we aren't talking about just $100 million though, and actually steam is different in many ways. For many titles, it generates money off of almost no service provided other than providing servers and the infrastructure they already have anyways. Theyget up to 40% off a sale, thats pretty damn huge.

Have we gotten any more info on the roach morph on how to get it? Is it a lair upgrade or something or an actual morph cost.

Blizzard's WoW property is unmatched in the industry. It's a cash cow for them.

Banshee speed- again, who knows. I don't care for the slippy feel of most SC2 units, compared to the precise movement of wraiths so this doesn't really change my opinion.
So I think the commentator in the video was a bit misinformed when he talked about micro. But this change actually has nothing to do with adding more responsiveness/moving shot to the Banshee. The intention here is to give them lategame utility instead of making overseer/muta hardcounter them.

I've never been more pessimistic and/or less hyped in SC 2 before. The NA ladder is ruined, just like I hear it was in BW, due to hacking. No one ever talks about solutions, though. Toss gets 1 new unit, and with as much trouble as they have had trying to balance the widow mine, maybe a mine type of unit isn't the way to go... Invincible nydus worm in the early game sounds like the worst idea I've ever heard. Are they removing transfuse or something?
When you think about how much stuff usually ends up having to be removed, due to being bad in practice, what am I supposed to expect to see remain? There's not much to begin with... Photon overcharge doesn't help versus oraces, mutas or phoenix?
The only good news, personally, is without free to play, I feel like it wouldn't even matter if the changes were good. I'm optimistic about it all being moot... I never thought I'd see a day where deciding to sign up for beta would be such a dilemma, with no reason to not expect to get in. The only good news is others seem happy. I just hope you're not all delusional.
