As published on their facebook page, this are the changes in the map pool for Round 3 of the SKProleague 2014, Round 3 starts April 13th.
Out; Yeonsu Polar Night

- The fourth on that side now has a little bit more air space towards the 6th, which should make it more defendable.
- The fourth near the natural was moved back and decreased in size. This makes it actually possible to take the 6th without being in firing range from the opponent's high ground 4th and vice versa the 4th is more defendable due to added air space and distance.
- The further away ramps down to the center were moved a bit towards the main base, are wider and have no more rocks.
- The center area now has some extra dead space, making it more narrow and presumably preventing colossus from walking up anywhere but the ramps.
- Creep tumors on islands were removed.
Edit: Overall, the changes to the 4th bases seem like a targeted nerf towards Terran siege pushes, so maybe we will see less mech on this map.

My first reactions; I can't for the life of me think of the change on Out Boxer,
MGR, Fine, I like the map and so do the Code A pro's.
Maze, yay for destructable rocks? Wait, it looks like there's a large ramp into the main blocked by rocks. I do like that :D!
|
MRG really getting some love.
|
The new map looks unusual, that is a good thing imho. Always the same playstyle gets boring Hoping to see some entertaining games on the new map
|
I think the change on Out Boxer is no neutral creep tumors on the islands?
Maze looks really wierd, can't wait to see games on it!

I really like these changes. MGR is a cool map, and Maze seems interesting. Like Arkanoid, but less extreme. Should be a lot of fun.
The only alteration I can think of for Outboxer is the removal of creep on the island bases? They might not even show on the map picture anyway, though.
|
I can't think of a reason to remove those tumors... They had served a purpose in the first place.
|
Wow, it's like they read my mind :D (or my post in the feedback thread perhaps..)
So happy Yeonsu/Polar are out. ffs it took awhile.
We're even getting something arkanoid-esque. I loved that map even though it didn't exactly strike me as balanced (which is fine for proleague format).
|
Oh cool, Maze looks like fun D:
I won't miss immortal all-ins on Yeonsu either.
|
I guess forcefields might be somewhat useful in the maze of doom.
|
Arkanoid v2!
Hoping to see some more unorthodox games on it.
|
Maze might be amazing mech tvt heaven or a terrible mess.

Haha, Maze, seriously. Arkanoid remnants
|
Haha, Maze looks so ProLeague, very crazy.
|
wow, I really like maze!! it's sooooo cool!!
I don't think they should have changed that to outboxer, but well, w/e.
The only thing I can think right now is in maze, I like it so much.

hooray for non-standard :D

There are actually a lot of small changes to Outboxer.
- The main base was decreased in size. As a result, the third base has a bit more open space around it.
- The sixth base was moved back/outwards a bit. Now there is at least some space between the CC/Nexus/Hatch and the rocks on the pathway.
I could be totally wrong though.

I just love ProLeague for their "like i give a fuck about standard maps" attitude.
Looking forward for maze.

Now if they enter Maze for TLMC All in all 100% awesome changes. Boring clones removed, 3p map added, crazy map added (actually only semi-crazy since theres still direct main-to-main way ). I even like the creep removal on island expansion since it encourages more daring/sneaky plays. Vintage PL greatness

Man, Maze looks amazing! And not having Yeonsu and Polar Night will be really refreshing. With the exception of Frost it seems like all games I've seen played the last couple of months have been Yeonsu/Polar Night.

Maze troubles me greatly. Its very chokey, albiet you can destroy a lot of the rocks to open up more paths, but I still feel like aoe and space control will reign supreme on it. My biggest issue with it though, is that the map looks quite good for splitting. Once you get a couple of PFs or some spines in the middle then you better prepare for a couple of 3 hour SH vs Mech or SH vs Airtoss games.
Overall I have a really bad feeling about this one and I just hope I'm wrong here.
|
Dat forcefield value in maze ;_; I think it will be PvP in that map...

I doubt it would ever win, even if it were an amazing map and just what we needed.
That said I am excited for it, as well as Merry Go Round, and thankful that there's at least two organizations trying out interesting new maps.

LOL maze this is a map I would have designed
|
Maze looks like that 90s screensaver with the maze.

Maze has a lot of rocks to detonate your banelings on
|
I can't wait to see "Maze" in action.
|
Are those double rocks on the second big ramp into the main on Maze? Like there are destructible rocks and then on top of that collapsible rocks that can be used to replace the initial rocks?
|
|
Can't wait to see how 'Maze' is gonna be played. It looks really interesting :D
|
Merry-Go-Round the map is cool, but the name is just terrible -.-"....and Maze is...interesting i guess.

Pretty sure it's 2x destructable, kill one and you have a standard small ramp into main, kill the other and the ramp becomes size 3.
I think that's how it'll work.

I somehow get the feeling that Maze will see a lot of PvPs...
|
maze, wtf? :') Curious to see how it plays out.
|
Maaaaazzeeeeeee Rocksssssssssssss!!!!
|
Maze will be amazing for one round IMO (new strats etc.) but if it stays, which I doubt, it would most likely lead to super boring matches once scouting and everything is fully figured out. But for one round of Proleague I think it's brilliant.
|
And just when I thought that it is amazing that we don't have Yeonsu in the pool anymore, there is Maze, the Force Field playground...
And I don't understand the thing about Outboxer's neutral Creep Tumors being removed, that means that Terran can expand there from the start or what?
|
First reaction to Maze: Holy Jesus Christ on a pogo stick O.O
|
How many sets of rocks does Maze have?
|
Return of Arkanoid :D
Maze should make some awesome games! (and some lackluster ones too most likely)
|
PL/Kespa always had amazing map makers
|
I'm looking forward to seeing lots of drawn out games on maze as each player spends time breaking down rocks instead of actually engaging each other
