With your 4-3 victory, you have accomplished your royal road. How do you feel?
During the entire match, I was feeling pressed from the very first game. So I thought that it was going to be very difficult. But I told myself that I would be able to win as long as I was able to focus for each game. I am so glad that I was able to win the championship. I don’t know how to express how I’m feeling right now.
Were you disappointed that the finals venue was at the GOM studio?
The location was on my mind, but most of my thoughts were consumed with winning the championship. I was disappointed when I first got there, but I can’t help but feel that I was able to win because I focused on the match right away.
You did not shed any tears after winning. How come?
I think I was more happy than emotional, so I think that’s why (laughs).
You pulled off a lot of comeback victories today. Why do you think this is so?
Honestly, I felt the certainty that I would not lose if the game got to the late game stage and 200/200 battles took place. That’s why I kept telling myself to just keep on hanging in there.
Why do you feel so confident that you won’t lose in a 200/200 battle?
I want to say it’s because of my confidence in my own skills.
Game 7 took place on Daedalus Point, a Zerg favored map. Weren’t you feeling uneasy because of that?
It’s true that that map is favorable for Zergs, but that’s only if the Zerg goes for roach/hydra. So I was able to win because I was able to prepare a response for that.
How do you plan on using your championship prize money?
I really haven’t earned that much money up till now, so I plan to keep on saving up from here on out (laughs).
You lost game one. You must have been really nervous given that this was your first finals.
Rather than say that I was nervous, I was angry at myself because I wasn’t able to predict what my opponent was trying to do and I ended up losing. I would have been in a dangerous situation if it was a bo5, but since it was bo7, it didn’t bother me too much.
It looks like you are making a name for yourself as the SK Telecom T1 killer. It looks like you are strong against your rival team.
They are a rival phone company team so I tell myself that I always have to win against them. We keep meeting each other because we’re both so strong, and I plan to keep on winning from here on out.
During your match, GOM did an entertaining interview with your friend from back home.
I’m not sure if he’ll believe me or not, but I have always had a mature look since the sixth grade (laughs). He is a good friend that I will spend forever with.
During that interview with your friend, it was revealed that you tend to avoid girls. Is this true?
I was really shy around girls when I was young, but not anymore.
Never in the history of SC2 has there been a player who was the strongest player. Do you feel confident enough to become one?
There has never been a strongest player yet. But I won’t become content with the fact that I won a championship, and I’ll keep working even harder from here on out so I don’t really care.
Your goals from here on out?
For human beings, the desires never end. My role model is my teammate and friend, Flash. I want to grab at least somewhere around six championships just like him.
Since KT got eliminated from the SPL Round 2 playoffs right before the finals, wasn’t your momentum somewhat cut off?
I did lose during the playoffs, but I didn’t lose in a macro game. So it didn’t really bother me much.
Did you think about the championship after you won game six?
I didn’t think about the championship. All I could think about was blocking the attack that I knew was coming for game seven.
Anything else you would like to say?
I have never felt so stressed before while preparing for a match. I got frustrated at my teammates a lot. I want to thank them for helping me with practice, Samsung Zerg players, and teamless Symbol as well.
I have now achieved the royal roader title. I want to thank the fans, my family and friends who travelled such a long way to come see me in the finals, and the coaching staff for always supporting me. I also want to thank the KT Rolster organization. Lastly, I want to thank anyone and everyone who cheers me on from behind the scenes.
