I wonder how Blizzard will attempt to manage it:
- Parse each image loaded (e.g. if it looks swastika shaped then ban it).
- Give extra reporting options to players to report indecent images.
- Attempt to parse uploaded text against a banned words list.
- Introduce soft bans (if you abuse the system, you're banned from doing any customisation for a month)

Burrowing banelings under those is a nice double bluff.

How does Widow Mines look underneath the decals? And could possibly the burrowed sprite be used as a decal effectively?

I tell you fthe best way. Add a button to hide custom decals and leave people use whatever they whant.who dosent likw it can press or check hide custom decals

Those banelings won't make it , they look kind of real at first look but in game when you see that those are not moving and that they are slightly flatter than the real banelings you will continue playing without much problems, the one that i think could give more trouble is the widowmine one that zenith mentioned, specially in ZvT with muta bling ling, but now days people already have sweet spots for the widowmines like behind the refineries and stuff... So anyways it would need to be something to have in mind when playing terrans.

well if you are in middle of a fight near a hatchery with those decals it can get pretty confusing with reall banelings around

I agree but Blizzard tend not to do it that way, e.g. many people requested an option to prevent their opponent's custom skins from being displayed.

Yep, but the human eye evolved to detect motion so it should be pretty easy to see which ones are not the real ones from the ones that are (animation), besides you can see which ones are flat and which ones aren't or at least it should be faily easy for people without issues on his eyes, for the ones that have tho... I played some games on the PTR and i don't think this could be a big issue, widow mines on the other hand could do quite a bit of damage if the players find the right decal to exploit them.

Beware that i'm not saying that this won't cost a few lings to a careless zerg, i'm saying that if you know what you are doing (like you should) you won't have much trouble.

@existor as i said on reddit you should use the shadows that the widow mines have while burrowed instead of having the actual picture of the widow mine. Or you could put a bucket of greyish paint as the decal, and burrow the widow mines there instead.

I was kind of looking forward to these clan decals but unfortunately it seems like this is going to end up like Counter-Strike where people are spamming random stuff and faking real units

I think a good option would be that your "clan tag" has to be uploaded by your clan leader and everyone in the clan can only use that one decal. That would make it a lot more appropriate and limit abuse a little, in my opinion.

As an aside, my clan is pretty non-serious. We're just a bunch of dudes goofing around and our logo reflects that. Looking forward to having this bad boy pasted by every Nexus

all you folks concerned about fake units need to remember one thing: always show health bars. Decals will never have health bars.

Well yeah, until the first enemy scouting worker arrives... Don't get me wrong this sounds excellent on paper but when playing i don't feel it will hold water, at least not with the widowmines pics there, maybe as i said with the shadows or with greyish pain, but even that way your opponent would scout you and know that you are planning something tricky when he sees that you have a burrowed widow mine(s) beside your CC at 3 minutes into the game lol
