Not going to lie, I've been waiting years to see Idra go up in flames. Bad attitude, bad manner, bad player. When your only selling point is you're so obnoxious that the ensuing drama brings in views, what the heck are you really contributing to the community other than hatred?
God dammit >.< End of the greatest foreigner to play StarCraft imo, had the biggest potential due to being so stupidly good mechanically. Since the end of WOL and start of HOTS he has been in the worst state he has been in with the game and it got to the point where he starting raging at team mates (ie DeMuslim) and that for me is the reason he has been let go, i think he has broken a clause in his contract or something "/
Well im pretty sure he will retire now, their is nothing left for him in this scene which makes this even worst for his fans >.<
We had some great times IdrA thanks for them GL in college!

reading 4 pages of posts and its all just one sentence garbage, how about some context and information and links people, sure ill go watch SoTG later to catch up but you people are just worthless with such comments, a community of degenerates.... where are the posts on analysis and review and reflections???
You're not making yourself look any smarter with that post.
Of course, this is expected for anyone other than Idra or EG. These kind of things happened 100 times before and there were no consequences except for a couple of apologies. But this was the final straw and a right timing for EG to do it probably. Greg has been a wreck lately and I fear how this will affect him irl, and naturally how it will affect his career as a professional SC2 player.

Some of these posts are just hilariously strange.
The irony is this post right here is more offensive to the community than the post idra got released for :\ calling people "slightly off" for speaking their mind about a key icon in starcraft being removed from the team they helped make iconic for the same reason that icon was made an icon.
The reason I'm calling them "slightly off" isn't because they are simply speaking their mind. Their logic and reasoning for justifying Idra's behavior and attacking EG is so completely whacked that it's impossible to think of them as "normal" posters.
Every time some random poster says "dur it's true Idra was right! All of you are fucks! durrr" it's hard not to start stereotyping. I have yet to see a rational argument for either defending Idra or attacking EG.
While I don't think anyone would actually say that what Idra said was exactly "smart", there was a bit of truth to his post. He also did not seem entirely serious about it, but I suppose we will never know that... Idra has always valued "skill" in Starcraft. Many people don't actually care for skill (the viewers) and just want to see something EXCITING. Idra losing in a match and not saying "gg" is what people like to see. People like to dislike him, something which is actually pretty natural. People love to hate -someone-. Others actually love him because of that.
Actually, this thread (and its # of pages) is pretty much proof of what Idra was saying (in his first post). People care about this kind of shit. People like uber gosu players like Innovation and Flash as well, but there's so much more money in Idra than Innovation. Flash, well, he will always have tons of fans and shit. I wonder how many viewers Innovation would get if he streamed....
Since when has idra valued skill? Anytime he lost it was always to some "no skill noob cheese rush" or because whatever unit was imbalanced at the time. He never actually lost and said "well I fucked this up" or "I could've done this better." It was always the games fault. Any attack before 20 minutes was considered a cheese by him and therefore not the real game. If he valued skill he would better himself, not blame others for beating him.
Not going to defend IdrA where nothing is to defend, but this post is untrue. IdrA - while not being ingame in a series that matters has a lot of statements and posts that actually say his opponent/upcoming opponents are good players etc. He also doesn't always leave without gg. I remember his games against NonY where he for example cancelled his CC. He gg'd out, and he pretty much was well aware that what he just pulled (cancelling a cc first) was stupid as hell, but it happened. He respected NonY.
So... while he might be very blunt and not always polite, he sure is someone that does acknowledge skill. Doesn't mean he respects every player that is skilled, but saying he doesn't at all is wrong.
And here comes the time where Idra needs to get his shit together if he really wants to stay in this game. Cuz we all know if even EG released him, if he wants to join a new team and continue his carreer and make even the half of money he was making with EG he needs to change his agressive behaviour. Both as a person and in game reactions to events. He just can't control his mentality in game and that causes him to play way lover than his actual skill level.

If Innovation streamed, I would watch the hell out of his stream, just to see how does he ever loose a TvZ (and copy the zerg obviously ). And historically top tier korean streaming always have a lot of views, but they don't stream often
I think Idra was completely on the mark, this is an entertainment industry, and I would not have spent a second watching his (or Destiny's) stream if they weren't interesting people. Same deal with LoL, which is the reason Dyrus' is one of the most popular streams.
I honestly feel like anyone who is actually a fan of Idra has something wrong with them. He is a classless, asshole who BMs everyone and constantly disrespects the game and his fellow competitors - and now the entire community we are all a part of. There is seriously some self-loathing or something going on if you support someone who acts the way he does.
Too bad Idra couldn't fixed his issues and try to improve upon his behavior. I had a feeling something like this would happen after his last couple of incidents but I didn't expect him to get released over it. It was sad seeing Incontrol finding this out on SOTG and seeing his reaction too it. Hopefully this is some sort of wake up call for Idra and he gets his act together or does something that makes him happy. Either way good luck to Greg in whatever he decides to do from now on.
TL is lawful good. Idra doesnt meet the alignment requirement
Nah.... I consider TL Neutral Good, maybe true neutral. This place is rife with a lot of shit being said, and a lot of punishment following which is often varied depending on mod's mood and that user's history. Most of the time I see moderator actions I think the user got what he deserved, but for one the site's punitive patterns are based more on custom than on what's officially written down, and there's definitely less leniency than what most people are willing to offer. Which is a distinguishing part of the TL model and why I like visiting the forums sometimes.
Nonsense, TL is Lawful Neutral, it has its rules, it means well but it has its own darned rules and it sticks to them, no matter what YOUR moral compass might be. That'd be my take on it, anyway. :p

I couldn't make sense of this until I realised you weren't talking about the SC2 team Alien Invasion.
The longer you are on Teamliquid and the more you did contribute, the 'easier' or at least more likely you get away with something stupid. Ofcourse even a 10000+ count poster can be banned, but overall his tone could be more aggressive. Teamliquid is moderated quiet fair to be honest. Freedom of speech is encouraged here, which doesn't mean that you can insult / harm others with content you produce.
/offtopic
Yeah, I guess where I see this being demonstrated most bluntly is on the first TL commandment, where they say "If we don't like you, we simply ban you." And I can accept that
Anyway, staying on topic. I'm not surprised as some people are about this Idra thing. It gives a sense of shock but in all honestly it makes total sense for EG in maintaining its status in the eSports community and its future as an organization. I saw the way people reacted on Reddit before the firing happened and although Idra has a lot of good to offer to the team he's with, the consequences of what he said and what he does say - to the name and image of EG, are harder to rectify than what they lose with Idra's release. And that name and image are extremely important to their continued success. This trend with Idra has been a long enough fixture for the organization to make their final judgments, so I don't see EG severing him as anything rash. EG has plenty of other players and things going for them that releasing even a big name like Idra won't do anything to cause real harm to their business.

I am actually really glad they "released the gracken".
Publicity. 5k viewers is still a lot.
I cover the reasons why IdrA is a huge deal in the North American scene in my latest video. Sorry if it's against rules to re-post it, I thought about it for several hours and then did several takes and finally got what I wanted to say out, in the way I wanted to say it.
IdrA, thank you so fucking much for what you did for North American Starcraft and E-sports.
My response. IdrA and EG splitting is a blow to E-sports.
I was there - he was influenced by a legion of retarded fanboys. I'm sure he regrets it aswell.
Especially since he was like 1 spot from getting into Shoutcraft AM or something.
I still don't get it, how actually a guy, who sitting at home and not taking a part in any foreigner event could have such big popularity for a long time? Also he's blaming on he's own mates while the stream, that's awful.
