I just want to tell you your PvZ is brilliant, what was the thought process behind creating this build? How did it evolve? haha, thanks man i appreciate the love, really. :D eventually i got tired of being forced to all in every game with a ffe because your options are so limited. so i knew nony played a gate expand and it was viable. i wasn't familiar with his build but i knew it was viable so i started playing around with a build. that eventually led up to me making this guide: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=353521 that was for wol, and you can see the differences. i always was convinced that early sentries were the way to go but i started playing around with no sentries and just saving gas, allowing for a stronger base damage unit composition in the early game. right now the builds idea is trying to force the zerg to play the way i want him/her to, on 2 bases. i try to deny the third, if they try to hold the initial push with just zerglings its usually an insta loss. in heart of the swarm i think my build is really hitting its best stride. im at about 70% winrate but i lose a good chunk of games because of my own mistakes. I've kind of adopted your build (masters NA, diamond KR) due to pvz being such a terrible matchup for me, I really like the idea of a non allin double stargate due to mutas being so hard without opening pheonix, and this gateway opening forces them into roaches or 2 base play with spines. would the optimal zerg response to your opener showcased in the replay pack be to get some roaches out in time for the +1 zealot push on 2 bases and take a 3rd said roaches, while teching into a roach hydra push? Because when this happens I find it really hard to take a 3rd, I might be taking it too late though? Would you actually be able to talk about your 3rd time a little? I must be doing something very wrong because you very consistently destroy GM opponents with it and I'd say I'm about 60% with it at a low master level... I think its due to the problems I'm having with not really understanding the 3rd timing/extra gates timing (which you seem to prioritise what comes first based on the situation). The other question I have, is if you match up with the same person 3x in a row would you still use this build? Due to the no scout wouldnt you have issues with say, a 1 base 5/7RR, or just struggle in general vs a 3 hatch before pool build? Teach me your protoss ways! Thanks again edit: upon further analysis you often get only 1 stargate and sometimes dont get any and go for mass gates timing. I understand these are reactionary but dont really have a fine understanding of what exactly determines these reactions, because at the point in time of these decisions the only information you seem to have is if there is a 3rd or not, and the ling count of the zerg (which is often not out of the ordinary relative to a gate expand) second, much later edit: So after rewatching replays and playing around with it all day, I basically found out that I wasnt hitting timings correctly relative to what you were doing. First problem was I wasnt chronoing the +1 attack so my zealot timing was hitting way too late make him choose between roaches or eco, I was giving them enough time to get more of an eco up before defending the harass which proved to be fairly significant. the second thing was I was often trying to take my 3rd with 1 stargate as 1 void was coming out (which didnt stop roaches from cancelling it) or with 2 but slightly too late after 2 came out (so he could cancel it with hydras). It seems the money spot to take a 3rd after a successful defense of your zealot push with roaches is around the time your first 2 voids come out, any later and he can deny it forever with roach hydra before you can create artificial chokes/ get photon overcharge ready. Regardless if you could still reply and let me know if I'm on the right track it would be much appreciated :D | ||
