Hey guys, My name is scott aka aBstract, a NA GM Protoss. I'm currently playing for LaG Gaming.
There's about 100 replays in here from the past month or so.
Openers: PvT: Oracle Expand into Twilight Council/Double Forge. PvZ: Gateway Expand into 4 gate +1 Timing. Follow this up with double stargate. PvP: I still haven't found a comfortable strategy. I've been bouncing around so i can't tell you what strategy you're going to see if you open a pvp lol. Mostly 2 gate 1 zealot + 3 stalker pushes.
My PvT and PvZ are pretty solid right now.

The downloadlink wont work for me.
Same, no files there.
But this is totally AWESOME, oracle opening PvT and air PvZ is just what I wanted to do since I started to play HoTS. Many thanks.
UPD: Hm, I did something and got the file list... Maybe it just loads slowly?
UPD2: Yeah seems like it, you have to wait for a couple of minutes.

k i think i got a better link up there now.

It wants me to sign up and pay money to download multiple files... Why don't you put all the replays into a .zip file and upload that?
Really excited for these replays!

i downloaded and tried to watch a useful tips :
sort them by folder pvp pvz pvt . sort them by date .
and dont upload replays that are 1 week or older most ppl will think their time have alredy passed . and as a GM u dont face pro gamers ? in last 7 days u had like 10 replays and only 1 with a pro gamer where you lost vs a dt build . ( vs macsed) .. anyway thanks for sharing !

been using the same pvt and pvz builds since 3 months before the beta ended, so regardless of the date the build is viable.

Can't wait to see the PvZ! I am currently completely lost in that match up !
Thanks for the upload !!

Your builds are quite refreshing, but I'm personally not really feeling the absolute no scout in your PvT's - I've only checked a few replays so far and have seen you lose twice to 2rax play (where you weren't really close to holding it). I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on this? We all know people are going to cheese on ladder, it seems like your build, while very smooth, is prone to early game shenanigans?

mind telling me what replay and ill tell you? i cant really remember. i dont know if i opened oracle first or not. recently ive been going a bit more greedy with sg open into nexus then oracle. my original build is oracle then nexus at like 5:30

I feel like there are a lot of losses on here. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself here but I think it's more desirable to see more of the winning strategies or games where there is something specific to be garnered.

i uploaded every replay, didnt pick wins or losses, i got 70% winrate, do the math. its here for build orders so people can learn a new build order. im not sure what winning has to do with learning a new build order
|
In PvP I've been using a 3 gate aggression into expand however in about 80% of my games it wins outright. Uses stalkers and MSC. There are definitely replays in Hellokitty's replay pack here on TL or I can upload a few. It's very effective...

Glad to see you showing wins and losses... We can all learn from other peoples mistakes and can see how certain builds and stuff go wrong

Thanks so much for this!
Can you talk a little about your PvT? Is the opening safe because of the meta game right now, or do you feel like you can hold most aggressive T openings? Also, why do you usually make three oracles, even when T has static defenses? Is it for defensive purposes?

YES!!! Thank you!

a marine scv all in can be tough to stop. scv all ins are the only thing giving me trouble, but thats mostly because i sacrifice scouting. i try to scout when playing someone who is familiar with me. i feel safe with oracles vs any standard opening, even the more aggressive ones. if the t has static defenses like turrets the reason for me making 3-4 oracles in that case is purely defense. another reason i get 4 oracles is when a t is trying to defend with widow mines only and no turrets. 4 oracles 1 shot widow mines before they get a shot off so you go in kill the mines and 4 oracles wreak havoc on the scvs. its good to stay active with the reveal spell bc youll know how greedy you can get away with. if theyre trying to play greedy you can be that much more greedier than you already were. if they are looking to gear up for a timing push, you need to be sure you drop the necessary gates and hold that attack.
the oracles can also be used late game for detecting mines, giving vision of his army, and they are really good at defending drops. if you turn them on (lol idk the spells name) before the medivacs start dropping, it doesnt matter how many marines are in the medivacs, they melt before the next one comes out so it shuts it down completely.

do you have a live stream or something? A youtube channel?

Great, this is great. Thanks for sharing! I def need a solid PvT build cause I have no idea how to play the matchup. =D
|
Why go for DTs instead of HTs as an oracle follow-up? It seems like T is guaranteed to have turrets by then. Are we trying to make him waste scans? Is it worth not having storm and feedback?
|
i go dts sometimes because of the versatility. i can get archons, i can delay pushes if he has no scans, makes him save scans so he cant mule all game etc. hts work well too you can experiment with however you like really

I was mainly playing on Europe server but you recruited my friend and I in xCon). We did not played much with this tag but we really appreciated your play. Was way more entertaining than those protoss who could only drop templar every game.

I was xCon)endy, my friend was xCon)firlou. You may remember better if I tell you we were two French guys coming to play on US server occasionally.
Sorry I don't play SC2, when the fmp scene became stagnant I switched to regular maps on iccup and still play there today.
I was curious to know if you were the same aBstract, and I'm glad to see you're doing well on sc2.

Thanks for the replay pack!
I just want to tell you your PvZ is brilliant, what was the thought process behind creating this build? How did it evolve?

haha, thanks man i appreciate the love, really. :D eventually i got tired of being forced to all in every game with a ffe because your options are so limited. so i knew nony played a gate expand and it was viable. i wasn't familiar with his build but i knew it was viable so i started playing around with a build.
that eventually led up to me making this guide: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=353521
that was for wol, and you can see the differences. i always was convinced that early sentries were the way to go but i started playing around with no sentries and just saving gas, allowing for a stronger base damage unit composition in the early game. right now the builds idea is trying to force the zerg to play the way i want him/her to, on 2 bases. i try to deny the third, if they try to hold the initial push with just zerglings its usually an insta loss.
in heart of the swarm i think my build is really hitting its best stride. im at about 70% winrate but i lose a good chunk of games because of my own mistakes.

Thank you for the replay pack aBstract.

I've kind of adopted your build (masters NA, diamond KR) due to pvz being such a terrible matchup for me, I really like the idea of a non allin double stargate due to mutas being so hard without opening pheonix, and this gateway opening forces them into roaches or 2 base play with spines.
would the optimal zerg response to your opener showcased in the replay pack be to get some roaches out in time for the +1 zealot push on 2 bases and take a 3rd said roaches, while teching into a roach hydra push? Because when this happens I find it really hard to take a 3rd, I might be taking it too late though? Would you actually be able to talk about your 3rd time a little?
I must be doing something very wrong because you very consistently destroy GM opponents with it and I'd say I'm about 60% with it at a low master level... I think its due to the problems I'm having with not really understanding the 3rd timing/extra gates timing (which you seem to prioritise what comes first based on the situation).
The other question I have, is if you match up with the same person 3x in a row would you still use this build? Due to the no scout wouldnt you have issues with say, a 1 base 5/7RR, or just struggle in general vs a 3 hatch before pool build?
Teach me your protoss ways! Thanks again
edit: upon further analysis you often get only 1 stargate and sometimes dont get any and go for mass gates timing. I understand these are reactionary but dont really have a fine understanding of what exactly determines these reactions, because at the point in time of these decisions the only information you seem to have is if there is a 3rd or not, and the ling count of the zerg (which is often not out of the ordinary relative to a gate expand)
second, much later edit: So after rewatching replays and playing around with it all day, I basically found out that I wasnt hitting timings correctly relative to what you were doing. First problem was I wasnt chronoing the +1 attack so my zealot timing was hitting way too late make him choose between roaches or eco, I was giving them enough time to get more of an eco up before defending the harass which proved to be fairly significant. the second thing was I was often trying to take my 3rd with 1 stargate as 1 void was coming out (which didnt stop roaches from cancelling it) or with 2 but slightly too late after 2 came out (so he could cancel it with hydras). It seems the money spot to take a 3rd after a successful defense of your zealot push with roaches is around the time your first 2 voids come out, any later and he can deny it forever with roach hydra before you can create artificial chokes/ get photon overcharge ready.
Regardless if you could still reply and let me know if I'm on the right track it would be much appreciated :D
