So lets be honest, you're not sending your "best." But your B team is still better and its not creating a healthy e-sports environment in North America and the EU.
Doesn't matter, WCS is going to have a KR winner anyway.

Does that mean that HyuN or TaeJa will forfeit code S if they won their groups ? Speaking only for ourselves TaeJa received a message that he had to pick his league for season two now already. TaeJa was always supposed to play Code S and then decide near the end of the first season, but this sudden change in policy forced him to pick early. I've been trying to figure out how this could happen because it contradicts the Blizzard Q&A on reddit, and many other sources that said they would be able to switch after season one. TaeJa is not playing NA this season, but I imagine being on this list has got something to do with his choice for season two. If he won this season of Code S would he still go to NA? From the information available now, it looks like he would have to, as weird as it seems. Although, I personally wouldn't discount a u-turn from WCS/Blizz if it actually happens. But if he goes, won't he have to start from Code A and climb back up to Code S? He's not going to be seeded into Code S in NA when he goes, is he?

Keep in mind that a GSL style NA/EU tournament with similar prize money didn't exist before this. Keep in mind that every country had a WCS last season and Koreans were only playing in the Korean WCS. Thus, non Koreans could actually win something... The better way to get non-Koreans to win tournaments is to establish a continously running tournament structure where they can meet good players and get better. This does that. I don't think it works quite like that. I doubt if I took a HS Basketball team and put them up against the Miami Heat, they'd come out a better team. They'd come out a team that just got shit on by a bunch of better players. It's not like they're going to practice against them. They're just going to get shit on and become demoralized. Yes and no. Different people learn differently. Some players like Naniwa learn from being thrown into the deep end and improve by wanting to better the people who constantly overshadow you. However there are also players who need to be spoon fed. But one thing all players can mutually agree on is proper management and coaching. Now this is what foreign teams lack and absolutely needs. Refer to the Coach Park effect for reference.
As far we know, most of those koreans are not going to move from korea. So they will just play them on qualifiers and stuff and foreigners will get crushed. What you are speaking about, is motivation to improve, but the problem with the foreign scene is the lack of tools to improve.

GSL will be so much worse now. Thank god life, parting and flash didn't leave.

Hmm. MVP and co. will have easier competition, but worse lag. So that balances it out a bit? Still a rather smart decision by those 6, IMO.

So you don't want to create a healthy SC2 environment in NA, EU, South America, China, Taiwan, and in the SEA regions. That's ok, we don't want to watch GSL or Kespa events either.

With Polt, Jaedong, and all these other great Koreans playing in North America, the actual North Americans will no longer have to travel to Korea to practice with the best players in the world. This is how we globalize e-sports and make the white people better at Starcraft. Instead of making them travel to Korea to get their ass kicked and get better, Blizzard is bringing the Koreans to their houses to get their ass kicked. I do sense sarcasm, but isn't it kind of true? Instead of consolidating all the "high" level players in one spot, fighting over a relative handful of opportunities (both for Koreans and traveled foreigners), its now spread out over 3 regions. More opportunities for foreign players to compete in a meaningful tournament without having to spend 2 years in Korean team house to earn the privilege of attending a qualifer, while Korean pros who have already busted their ass have the option to participate in a major tournament with fewer of them getting drowned out quietly in unknown qualifier matches or "stepping on each others feet". They shouldn't hand the biggest award in SC2 to anybody for just happening to live in a certain place, but this expands the the amount of potential participants. More exposure, more reason to get better, and better competition. first couple years will probably be more or less Korean domination, but this is far more inclusive and would encourage more foreigners to push harder then saying "go to korea or suck"
In theory, you would be right. However this has a big chance of backfiring (from the foreigner pros' point of view) into even more Korean domination, simply because the skill gap might be so large that the foreigners cannot compete.
Like someone said earlier in the thread, a high school basketball team will most likely not become better if they're pitted against Miami Heat.
So it's a very tricky situation for the SC2 "ecosystem", if we can call it that.

So now they actually have to play better players to win something... Oh no! I'm sorry but I'm having a real hard time sympathizing with all this entitlement coming out of the foreign scene right now. There will always be international tournaments with tons of top koreans stomping foreigners, but many wanted WCS to be the starcraft olympics. National champions being sent to the world final etc. Would you not enjoy that? Some regional competission leading up to a world final on top of all the international stuff? Not really. I'd probably watch the finals just for the Koreans though. I am one of those rarities that likes Korean players more for both personality and skill level.
Honestly, if foreigners can't even beat a couple of Code B Koreans who are flying back and forth every other week... than they really need to get better. They can whine about infrastructure all they want, but will it change anything? Playing in region locked WCS's didn't seem to be growing the scene (or their skill level) at all before, so why would it now?

The king and the president have set their eyes on Europe. But a part of the tournament is played online, right? Not sure how KR->EU will work.

So GSL is officially KeSPA-SL now

then what would someone like polt do? he moved to na for school. so he would be forced to play KR with lag?

That's wrong. 20 European players can potentially kill Mvp.
NA only have Scarlett.

I said before on the previous QQ thread.
Our KR top GSL Code S 32 players are locked for the upcoming WCS. Which means, Code A/B will not have a chance to even qualify for it.
So since it's unfair for our B TEAMERS (some said), WE bring our lousy thrash b-teamers to beat your NA/EU top players!
Lose in Code S? NO PROBLEM! I come to your turf and dominate you. No chance to qualify? NO PROBLEM!! i come to your turf and dominate you again!
Blame who!? Blame BLIZZARD!!

As a spectator I'm glad to see some top level games being played during a reasonable time for me. Though I certainly understand why pro players would be upset since their livelihood is on the line. Even though there's a seemingly overwhelming amount of negativity regarding NA/EU WCS, as a Starcraft fan looking at the list of these players I can't help but be excited for the games .

I don't see a problem with koreans moving, if they are really moving, and if there is an offline hub for each region where the teams can get teamhouses, so those koreans can actually join a NA/EU team and work for teams to become real practice partners. Right now it's just a mess.

Was a bit worried that the GSL (the only tournament I really care about) would be dilluted of the best players. While true to some extent, with Mvp, MC, Hyun and others leaving, it could have been a lot worse. Plenty of Kespa players to fill those missing spots.
Overall I'm not too upset over this.
