Surprised that more Koreans didn't go to EU. EU is always the easiest region since there are always less Koreans involved there.

Unless you are a absolute top Korean playing with the KR-EU lag puts at a signficant chance to lose against the better Europeans. And even the top Koreans might get in trouble if they play online. I wonder how many / if any of the koreans actually move to EU permanently ( i know ForGG is already here )

I could see Mvp/MC/MMA all moving there for this.

Poor korean attendence in EU ppl are reffering to got simple reason, in EU there are atlest 10-20 ppl that can actually win against koreans on good day(especially with lattency adv) and in NA there is Scarlett..... its no brainer tbh.

They aren't moving to NA. They are just playing online and then traveling is what I take from Nazgul saying they are still playing in ProLeague

I don't mind, I prefer this to all-NA or EU tournaments, haha. And the WCS finals will be with more Koreans.

Honestly this news is pretty fucking disgusting. Once again the SC2 scene in North America will continue to stagnate rather than develop. So while its great to see your C league (Nestea excluded) StarCraft 2 pros who couldn't cut it in Korea come to play in the American championships, this really needs to be reserved for North and South American players. Blizzard you guys need to fix this system, its already an issue.

But we don't need to see Koreans who can't qualify in Korea come to America to steal something that isn't theirs.

So all that money that didn't exist beforehand naturally belongs to foreigners... can't let the better players have it!!!

Catz said it better than I did.
Catz's thoughts

You want to grow a scene or do you want it to stagnate and shrink? We're going through a revival of SC2 after the last 8-10 months of crappy games. But lets go back to what it was.

I recalled someone said WCS brings out the BEST player. So now, we see if any foreigners is BEST play to beat us. If KR cannot be BEST in beating their own country men BEST then don't deserved to be BEST.

Now, since MANY of our BEST moving to EU/NA.. let's see if YOUR best can beat our BEST if not don't QQQQQQQ!@_@

I like that Blizzard decided to do the WCS again and more often, but this is really silly. There is no point in calling it WCS EU or NA anymore, I feel like the old WCS format was better. How is the EU/NA scene going to develop itself when koreans are just going to destroy everyone there...

I think the EU WCS is doable for the Europeans. The Koreans who play there have been beaten by Europeans before, and it can be done again. Obviously it won't be easy, but with MaNa, Lucifron, Thorzain, probably Stephano and co. I believe an European player can win the WCS EU. WCS NA on the other hand, it will be almost impossible for a foreigner to do super well.

Guys, Mike Morhaime said this is a good thing. With Polt, Jaedong, and all these other great Koreans playing in North America, the actual North Americans will no longer have to travel to Korea to practice with the best players in the world. This is how we globalize e-sports and make the white people better at Starcraft. Instead of making them travel to Korea to get their ass kicked and get better, Blizzard is bringing the Koreans to their houses to get their ass kicked.

I do sense sarcasm, but isn't it kind of true? Instead of consolidating all the "high" level players in one spot, fighting over a relative handful of opportunities (both for Koreans and traveled foreigners), its now spread out over 3 regions. More opportunities for foreign players to compete in a meaningful tournament without having to spend 2 years in Korean team house to earn the privilege of attending a qualifer, while Korean pros who have already busted their ass have the option to participate in a major tournament with fewer of them getting drowned out quietly in unknown qualifier matches or "stepping on each others feet".

They shouldn't hand the biggest award in SC2 to anybody for just happening to live in a certain place, but this expands the the amount of potential participants. More exposure, more reason to get better, and better competition. first couple years will probably be more or less Korean domination, but this is far more inclusive and would encourage more foreigners to push harder then saying "go to korea or suck"

Great news! This will make WCS Europe and America very watchable. Though I am sad with the GSL losing quality players, I'm sure the Kespa players will more than make up for it, they're already making incredible leaps in skill level.

It makes sense for MMA, ForGG and MC to play in the European Qualifiers.
They are on European Teams after all. But i don't know about the IM and MVP player. They have basically nothing to do with the european scene. Seems a bit silly to me.
And of course no comment about NA XD.

As expected actually.

Many predicted that richer teams like LG-IM will split their teams to many regions ( eggs in many basket, better training as they do not really compete with each other).

The Koreans on foreign teams of course will be encouraged by their teams to play overseas ( better exposure + better chance etc).

Not sure if Blizzard expected this though. This will definitely make the WCS Final full KR unless there are some upsets in EU.

And i think it is fair. Foreigners coming to GSL have always mentioned that due to months long nature of GSL, they have to play at a disadvantage due to culture shock, lack of training infrastructure, lack of team, jetlag, etc

Now the Koreans will have these disadvantages( plus latency for online stages of the tournaments). If despite these advantages the Koreans still dominate all, then they deserve it.

Oh snap, the online part doing its magic.

I hope blizzard introduce hubs for offline events and teams to grow around for every region instead of this the next year.

They should just rename this whole thing, it's clearly not a world championship.
