On the bright side, with all these non-KeSPA players moving to the overseas WCS tournaments, there will be more room for KeSPA players to play in GSL lol.

Oh, i didn't thought about that. Kespa players will save GSL, that's pretty funny

Does that mean EG-TL won't be in the ProLeague anymore?

Jaedong moving to NA, i feel so good for calling it haha.

About why they are all moving, makes sense if they are going to play proleague online, the team still needs to be located on the same place (hence why TL players also go to NA ?)

It's going to be funny when the top 10 representatives from NA are going to be Korean.

Speaking as the rating guy, this is a welcome effect. Mixing the rating pools is exactly what we need and Blizzard seems to have managed that at least. I don't mind this invasion at all. My initial apprehension was that this would totally destroy the current GSL season, but if Nazgul is right then this list also includes choices for season 2.

So ultimately, yeah, this isn't that bad.

Honestly this news is pretty fucking disgusting. Once again the SC2 scene in North America will continue to stagnate rather than develop. So while its great to see your C league (Nestea excluded) StarCraft 2 pros who couldn't cut it in Korea come to play in the American championships, this really needs to be reserved for North and South American players. Blizzard you guys need to fix this system, its already an issue.

But we don't need to see Koreans who can't qualify in Korea come to America to steal something that isn't theirs.

So all that money that didn't exist beforehand naturally belongs to foreigners... can't let the better players have it!!!

In previous years, Blizzard actually invested it in region specific countries, whether be it Blizzard's Continental Invitationals in 2010 and 2011, or the National and Continental WCS leagues of 2012.

In all honesty. If foreigners can't beat Koreans when they have much higher incentive to train hard, and when they have tremendous lag, they don't deserve their spots in WCS.

This Korean turnout is very good and I look forward to watching all 3 regional qualifiers with slightly less emphasis on EU due to the poor Korean attendance.

Can someone please explain how this ruins anything?

Keep in mind that a GSL style NA/EU tournament with similar prize money didn't exist before this.

Keep in mind that every country had a WCS last season and Koreans were only playing in the Korean WCS. Thus, non Koreans could actually win something...

And oh man was that working to build the scene and the overall skill level of foreigners everywhere!

On topic edit: I feel sorry for every NA player and it really should've been like in 2012 imo, but I am also really excited for Europe now. It's a great competission now where the EU players still stand a chance I think. This is going to be good.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

You realize the MLG Winter Championship had the highest viewership ever for a sc2 event and every foreigner was eliminated before the ro8? 140k concurrent for Flash vs Life.

Blizzard has succeeded in creating a tournament that will pit the best players in the world against each other.

That said, I wouldn't call it the WCS anymore, because the system they've implemented has entirely failed in an equal distribution of talent from around the globe.

Personally, I enjoyed last years regional WCS events and seeing who was the best on a national to regional to global level. Not that I won't be watching this years tournament, its that I no longer see the WCS as a WCG replacement, with the goal of determining a true global champion for SC2 (something I think they could of fully realized if they had chosen too this year).

Best of luck to all regional players who actually reside in the country they are competing in, I will be disappointed if the WCS ends up being 90%+ Korean players.

I feel like this defeats the entire purpose of WCS.

Ugh. I hate this.

Didn't Sundance say Boxer v Idra was still the highest rated?
