He might easily fool you guys, but at this point im already expecting to hear the next news title "stephano signs for another year with EG". You wait and see folks, he will be continued to be salaried for EG till sc2 is dead, then he will go into Warcraft 4 which is obviously blizzards next big esport . After that he will get another 4 -5 years of esport life. It doesnt matter if he thinks the game is fun or not. No work unless you are a pilot is fun. Dont ever listen to what young kids say, their minds change constantly. Wise words. You can go through uni without studying a lot though ![]()

Dont ever listen to what young kids say, their minds change constantly. how is anyone still believing his nonsense statement of "barely practising" lol. If anyone believed that they are delusional, it was just his way of subtle bragging. He wanted people to think he was so good despite his "lack of practise" when in truth he practised just as much if not more than the people he was beating. Can we stop the naievity regarding this statement he made, with a smirk all of those months ago? And Uni is easy (at least in Murica...) I spent literally less than an hour a week on homework/studying throughout entire uni career. Maybe med school will be difficult, but again, people who play this game professionally tend to be above-average when it comes to intelligence so I doubt he will be straining too hard. (Suppy is pre-med and a Pro-SC2 player concurrently) Like i Laugh at slacker friends "man i dont have any free time" when they take bare minimum class count to be considered "full time" and work a max of 12 hours a week.... im sorry but your free time will literally get cut in HALF or greater once you start your career. Will agree that actual careers generally suck. (granted there are fun ones..but they generally pay less..because people will often sacrfice a larger salaray for the pursuit of a fun career- there is a reason being a Zoo Keeper with a masters in biology pays less than being a manager at McDonalds) But i give GIANT respect for a player who says "Id rather be done, than accept a paycheck because i call myself a SC2 pro" like seriously there are soooooooooooooooooo many SC2 "professionals" accepting a salary (no matter how small) just because they spend 20 hours a week playing SC2...and literally dont win a single event/tournament. Also, when do nurses make minimum wage? where do you live? 0.o. meh i try not to argue on these forums anymore so ill finish with... Mad respect for someone who would rather go out when he realizes he wont win nearly as much due to his lack of effort, rather than collect a check to simply hang out and play SC2, never being competitive or having an actual shot at winning anything. Rather than calling yourself a "Professional gamer" because you make 10,000 a year streaming to 1-800 people...and never attending any actual events.

But at the end of the day its a video game. We still live in a society that doesn't accept "pro gaming" to be valuable on a resume. I feel like pro gaming is good to about the age 23(with 0 post secondary education) Unless your making enough to have 1million saved in 10 years, even then its questionable. Sure you can go back to school at any age, but it gets harder every year that passes by. Try doing high level math after youve done a labor(which sc2 is in some sense) job for 10 years. I would really like it if EG would make their players take atleast 1-2 courses a semester to ATLEAST let them have some kind of backout plan. It would also help the scene by showing that gamers are educated. Not everyone has a cinderalla story like idra, stephano or incontrol. Strifeco? Has to play poker to make ends meet, why? Well he didnt really have a back out plan. What about those people that took a year off+ to be a pro-gamer I saw on reddit in WoL.Where are they now? Back to school or back to work. Im not saying don't chase your dreams, but chase them in caution. And when you see your dream a) doesnt make you happy or b) its not worth the investement Leave. You ought to invest your time into something that will make you that much in your future. Our society is all about perception.

If I was him personally, I would still suck it up. He is still young and can go along playing this game for awhile and making good bank the whole time. Can always go to school later. Not to mention he doesn't like the korean training regiment, which is kind of a problem if you want to actually train over here and play in GSL and GSTL. Quite sad though as he has a lot of talent for Starcraft and could go toe to toe with the koreans if he really put his head down and put in the hours. Korea is so much harder than the rest of us give him and other foreigners credit for. Not everyone can handle the huge cultural change they have over there while not even understanding the language. It can be a pretty lonely road I imagine.. Hope the best for Stephano in the future whenever he does retire.

Stephano is smart to realize that he's not going to win, without enjoying playing. Becoming a doctor is a promising career choice, so good luck to the unquestionably best foreign player there has been in SC2 yet. Cheers for making the scene brighter with a colorful personality. This is the decision that former star player IdrA could never make, due to his growing lack of maturity and a lack of perspective, because he chose this path and now has to stick to a game that he despises, which keeps transforming him into a obnoxious personality. So again, best of luck to Stephano, knowing when to quit is a good feat to have.
