I haven't followed professional StarCraft II for over a year, so I tried picking players I knew from 2011. I'm not very competetive with this, obviously, but it's still a cool thing to do. As long as I get a few points here and there I'm happy.
Tried to get players that would get sent out a lot, which meant generally avoiding particularly large/deep teams. I ended up tripling down on Azubu, which may backfire horribly =/
no doubt this seems like a dumb question; but after you've made your team, how do you get back to the page where you can view all the fantasy teams, groups, standings, and the other tabs (i think there were 6 or 7 iirc) from the homepage? thanks in advance.
My team basically consists of players that are known to do well in team leagues (aside form Nestea and Aphrodite). The players I chose as my anti-team are players that are overhyped imo.
Life will carry StarTale incredibly well in this tournament, him and Bomber are the backbone of that team and look decent at HotS so far. Sound/Brain/Panic/Booster are there as fillers to collect team win points and may have the occasional snipe prepared for an opponent given the now awful P line up on StarTale and hardly stellar T's once Bomber is removed. If you also look who StarTale are playing they are not yet scheduled to play Incredible Miracle meaning they'll only be up against the lesser teams. NSH is basically a free win in their first week, MVP/Prime/AZUBU/FXO may all be a bit tougher but they're nothing like playing Incredible Miracle. Frankly I think Prime and MVP have poor rosters now and FXO looked bad in their first GSTL outing, AZUBU are a bit of a wildcard though. Shame StarTale aren't matched up against the other free win team that is AxiomAcer but you can't get it all.
Meanwhile this is Incredible Miracles tournament to win, the only problem being who the hell they are going to play. I don't think they'll play Mvp that much in team leagues, likewise I don't think they'll play Seed that much, if Hirai continues with the never play GSL winners strat. Also the Z lineup on IM is rather weak (read: not totally world class) so other than using it for snipes they'll probably stick to P and Ts. Step up IEM winners YoDa and First. YoDa bagging a win today and First unfortunately taking a back seat to the other dominant P on IM yet to win a GSL, Squirtle (Unfortunately it was a total 50/50 on who I picked given their race, team and cost - i'm really discounting YongHwa btw, overpriced). I'm sure he'll get his game time over the coming weeks though. MC jet sets around the world too much and, like Seed, has won a GSL meaning Hirai will obviously refuse to play him anyway most of the time. A solid win against FXO gives me a lot of confidence today, especially as they'll be up against a free win next 'round' in AxiomAcer, again while MVP/Prime and AZUBU might be more difficult to navigate I have no doubts that Incredible Miracle will be this seasons GSTL champions.
Anti Team
Eve - pick someone worth 1 point who is never going to play on a team that probably won't do very well, check.
Scarlett - pick the only foreigner in the tournament, totally over valued and overhyped, on a team who will never win, check. (Seriously, they even sent Crank to ESET UK Masters rather than have him play in their opening week!)
Leenock - pick someone who can't just make Infestors anymore and is totally overvalued these days, check. (PS: Let's not even send out GuMiho - good job FXO coach!)
Ryung is probably a better player to have on the team overall, but I have a feeling he'll get shut down by IM next week, who will prepare specifically for him going into the match, and Maru is basically a guaranteed appearance for Prime, and while he's a bit weak vs. Z I don't think Prime will field him vs. Z to start, and Azubu has a somewhat soft lineup, meaning I think he'll pick up more points in the next two weeks than Ryung would, making it cost effective.
Avenge seems an obvious mid-low cost choice, I feel ST is favoured in the matchup so he should pick up at least a point, and he seems the obvious go-to protoss-- he has more recent success than Treme, making him a likely show.
