About the storyline. While I understand and agree that it is very cliche, I don't understand why this is such an outrage, since this has been the case with Blizzard for the longest time. While original SC's campaign had a good storyline, it was nothing earthshattering, it was the degree of commitment to the characters what actually made it great, not the storyline per se. For example, the death of Tassadar was a freaking huge moment for me, because Tassadar was such a fucking badass, but the story structure wasn't too different from what we see today, aside the addition of really cheesy lines and themes.
That said, the story is probably going to be pretty epic, IF and only if they can get us to commit to the characters as much as we did to the previous cast. Zeratul is probably the biggest thing here, since out of the new characters we haven't met too many interesting people. I think the death of Matt Horner would be pretty touching.
As far as the campaign goes, I feel the mission structure in WoL was really, really, REALLY good. It was a huge step over the classic "build a huge base -> Stomp everything" structure in all RTS campaigns so far, maybe they could be less tailored for a given unit's effectiveness, because that means some units are mostly useless apart from their star missions.
I have high hopes for HotS and LotV, I think for all the shit Blizzard takes for their work on D3, and their money grabbing, they've done a good job with SC2, and I hope it continues to be that way.
Just 10 years ago they did an amazing job with mostly the same team of people writing the WC3 story-line.

Men, the story might not be the best but it is for sure one of the most interesting for a RTS. I mean, starcraft it's still a RTS, do you know a RTS with a better story? (beside war 3 :D )

Question is why is their older stories so much are better than current ones. Or is it problem with ourselves, our expectations too high. Well in any case, it is blizz themselves who spoiled us.

I am very fond of the Age of Mythology campaign, a very nice take on ancient mythologies. It flows very well when using characters based on a Greek origin and taking them thru Egyptian and Norse mythology. The game Company of Heroes, and the subsequent expansions, had a nice story. I don't recall the first Dawn of War RTS being too shabby either.
I think Blizzard suffers from being Blizzard, when you're one of the most successful video game companies on the planet people tend to take your product in high esteems.

You were younger, had lower standards and video games stories were jokes back then(this was the era of Duke Nukem). The first SC's story was not that impressive as a whole, but it was the first RTS to have a "good" story(by videogame standards). Being at the top of a very low pile is pretty easy.
Blizzard spoiled us by giving us 10 years being games, which means their previous games have enter go out of our minds and are fond memories. The flaws have been erased by time and we remember only the good parts, like everyone in a past relationship.

Exactly. I re booted SC:BW a while back, and while I had a blast as usual, the story was nowhere near as epic as I though the first time I played it.
