This seems to be legitimate. Within the next few months, MoW wishes to close the old house and start up a new training facility. They also wish to create an eSports show featuring League of Legends. The award came from a Polish entrepreneurial competition in the form of 4 millionPLN roughly 1.3 millionUSD
With the shift in focus of the MoW house, MoW General Manager Maciej Krupowies confirmed to ESFI that the training facility will end its operations at the current house, but that there are plans to open another facility at a different house in the near future. BabyToss, Cube and Wilko are the only three players still living at the MoW house, and will be leaving by February 5th, which is when preparations for Gamers LIVE are set to begin.
The Ministry of Win intends to launch a new project known as Gamers LIVE, a 24/7 stream that will focus on the competition of two professional League of Legends teams.
To be honest, all i had to hear. I don't care. I hope they still pay their employees though.
They had a thread where they discussed the shift so the only new news is the grant which is pretty hefty. Everyone else who tuned into their Q&A session knew they were bringing in LoL teams.
Regardless of what the house is being used for, or what game it is I really hope MoW doesn't mess this up. If they screw up such a HUGE grant they'll make all of us look pathetic. You can do absurd amounts of things with 1.3MILLION. If they fail I don't know what to say other than the management should go back to working at whatever it is they do because they'd be horrible to be around any longer.
I hope they do well, but I'm really not holding my breath. Makes me sad :/
Yup, they are shifting towards some TV show, where LoL will be a featured game. Which is imo a shame, I personally don't like the new project at all; because despite of all personal doubts before I went into the house and drama, there was very little I could complain about (hell, even the food, which was a very loud drama in past, was awesome, could ask the cook to make something for you and she just did it.) during the last month. Sure, there would be areas of improvement, if the house would've stayed, but overall, a positive experience. Considered coming over for a week or so before DreamHack, but since the project is gonna be something completelly different, it's not really possible anymore.
This is unbelievable sad to me. When I think of all the infrastructure that could be added to help bring various teams and players along. With that kind of money it would be really easy to create a minor league type system with a few central team houses for training to really cut down on travel for teams that are up and coming.
MoW hasn't been able to show anything positive yet, not really holding out much hope but they do need to make esports/us look good by spending it wisely.
Well, this is fucking great isnt it? they give $1.3 million to one of the most useless organisations in the industry and now some investors may be scared off by them fucking up... This does nothing but bad for esports.
Honestly, the closing of the "team" house was long overdue. I also am not surprised that they are turning to LoL, where the money is. Just really hope they don't screw this up, but its should be pretty easy for them especially with $1.3 million.

Take it easy. Wait for them to fuck it up first, and then bitch.
Who would actually care about what professional LoL players do when they aren't actually playing? It's the equivalent of liking HerO's stream because of his play and when he stops streaming I'd carry on watching him as he eats and go to the toilet and sleeps? This is the creepiest shit I've ever heard of, definitely not a smart move in my opinion for anyone involved. They are wasting this grant money in my opinion.
Maybe in the future MoW will pick back up sc2 :/Idk if its just me but I just cant get behind LoL. I am not sure what the appeal is imho, ive tried to watch it many a time and its so stagnant and slow and boring. The same thing pretty much every game with the same length same builds just a lack of overall variety.
Honestly, I hope they flourish and put on an excellent showing; optimism is the only thing that really makes sense at this point, regardless of MoW's past. The alternative, that MoW fails massively and it becomes thought in Poland amongst other Central-Eastern European countries that e-sports does not handle money well, is bad for everyone.

Lol, wait for them to fuck up first, that's a good one.

Lol, nice one.
I don't think they'll be missed much in SC2. They've just been a trainwreck of drama and I'm honestly shocked that anyone would give them that kind of funding with their track record.
Hmm, I hope good things come from this. Or they leave SCII alone, which might not be so bad. I had such high expectations of them when I first heard about them, but you know what they say "big expectations (can) lead to big disappointments".
Isnt the owner of MoW a money hungry, cocaine snorting (or soon to be) party freak? Well, this 1.3 million is certainly going towards LoL teams and the organisation.

I reckon you could put up a feed of Dyrus sleeping and get 5k viewers.
Well... The thing is that in Poland BW is still more popular then SC2... That's why they shifting they focus. League of Legends is at least 10x more popular there.

from an investors standpoint, it makes sense to want to be focused on a game which competitive matches consistently get more views.. but I am a starcraft bw/2 fan and I just get into those games.. I will naturally lose interest in mow even moreso than the time of the previous scandals.

No heyoka, that's the NA scene lol, jokes aside, I'm pretty frustrated with MoW. I can't tell if they are switching to an audience that is more tolerant of drama (which is a misconception) or if they just screwed their reputation with SC2 so bad that they have to.

Someone isn't very informed lmao.......
They get 1.3 million and I bet the players are still eating cold sandwiches every day lol
I sense a revival of all the old jokes about how dumb the Polish are (makes me feel a little aged considering there's a whole generation out there who is completely oblivious to this).
When it comes down to it i hope MoW pulls out a stellar job, though their past performance leans entirely in the other direction.
If it's reality TV show won't this be a success then? They won't have any problems bringing up drama that's for sure. Also thank god they are not doing this with SC2: -.-
Players who are living in the MoW house need to pay money to stay in the house right ? but they have to stream ? Who get the money ? players or MoW again ?

Knowing their reputation, I wouldn't be surprised. They (figure of speech, I mean Maciej Krupowies) f*cked up with Couter-Strike (if I remember correctly), with SC2, now is the time for LoL. At least this time I couldn't care less - LoL is like doesn't exist to me. It is just sad for esport.
All those who tried a quick chash up on starcraft esport and failed are now trying to do the same in LoL this is kinda funny Cant wait till they cause another big drama and Riot tells them to shut that down.
Tbh I´d like to see a new group start up this project. I do not want to see the same management behind it due to their reputation and how they handled it last time.
Ok just a clarification, I've read the polish original article. The competition/awards itself had no connection with Azubu like someone suggest, it looks like completely main stream business venture, no esports, esport preferential companies around it. It was organized and sponsored by some kind of development fund manager. with partnership for media exposure by a city of Warsaw, Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. It had 5 million Euro to give out to 5 projects, but I think it's safe the assume that it being a some kind of hedge/development found it's not for free, probably % of company ownership. MoW is really the bigges recepient with over 1,3 mil $ other project that won are, voice recognition software 1mil, 800k a company that wants to turn garbage into energy by burning it. 700k for some kind of internet add placement software that recognize psychologial need to shop, shopoholics ?!? (it's very vague) and finally, 500k for machine that rolls hey, (yes hay on the field hey) into easy to burn -> turn it into enrgy thing.

Yeah I'm sure they've learned their lesson during their time as an SC2-focused organization, as evidenced by the fact that every other week we hear about them fucking up something.... lol. Yeah no, benefit of the doubt has long since been exhausted with these guys.
At least they're gonna focus on another game, and as sadistic as it is to wish this upon another community, I'm really glad they'll stop shitting up ours with petty drama and management mishaps.
First of all, we are starting a 24/7 TV around eSports, not only Gamers LIVE. Gamers LIVE will be the most important part of the TV at the beginning - that's correct, but it doesn't mean we are going to drop StarCraft II.

WTF, this sounds like it's some kind of PR thing from the venture company, "let's show how cool and generous we are by going into random novelty niches and give some funding money, then let's display them and then dump then when it won't work out or make money if it turns out to work. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we will hear anything from these guys expect from commercials and advertisements regarding the company who gave them the money.

Bad advice. They've fucked up many times before and the manager is a scumbag, they don't deserve another chance..

Only that their customers (the players) that people say got scammed always come to these threads to say that its bs and that they are content with MoW. Why do random TL posters always think they know better than them?
Actually kind of good news, I hope they make it work and don't screw up. If it works out and their show becomes popular it would hopefully draw more people into watching competitive gaming, which is a good thing even if it isn't SC2.

Nothing wrong with being a optimist, but thinking it's a good idea to give a bunch of unprofessional/borderline scammers 1.3 million is just idiocy.

Pretty much how I feel about it. Although I'm going to go one step further and say that it boggles my mind how some people *STILL* trust this organization... >_<

Well if you're not in the scene it might not be easy to know who have a bad reputation/can't be trust. I mean in every niche market there are those people who screw things over and over and still manage to get in touch with naive players/investors/whatever

I'm not necessarily referring to the investors that gave them $1.3 mill or whatever, but if you look in this very thread, there are still people throwing shit at us for being realistic, claiming that we don't know anything about MoW or that they don't deserve the shit they get, even though they fucked up like a dozen times when dealing with the players residing in their house, with their employees and even managed to fuck up their PR articles. -_-
what a royal waste of funding. can't this kind of money go to a more credible and honest organization? This is only setting up for more failure, guaranteed.
Sounds like so many people want to go over to LoL from SC2. I don't understand it regardless of the money involved. The game is totally different. LoL is a team game. SC2 is an individual skill game. Too bad money influences too much these days. I hope SC2 keeps going forward!

It will keep going forward, people will keep playing it / watching it for years, and it will grow a bit once HotS is released, and then it will wane again closer to the end of HotS, and so on. Being completely realistic StarCraft 2 is the only game out there right now for competitive RTS players. League uses an entirely different skillset and appeals to a more casual audience, so it's going to be popular even if it's extremely dull to watch. I like to play it every now and then when I'm not in the mood for a game that requires me to pay 100% attention like StarCraft/Street Fighter/#1 Competitive FPS Game of the Moment.

I think some of you really ought to watch the Q and A we had with them as it explains quite a bit. It's economically more feasible for them to bring in a LoL team and it's a lot easier too. They can fill the house with no problems and for the coaches they did have in SC2 well let me put it this way, a lot of the players didn't want to listen to them and instead wanted to do their own thing. They were technically paying them to act as a resort/retreat in a way. I've always questioned the guys they brought over. They wanted big names to up their viewership instead of taking a prospect and turning them into a killing machine, which would make them look pretty good to anyone who is even considering going down to the house. Anyway, there is two sides the sword. They decided to go the other way with it. It didn't pan out so now they're bringing in actual teams so they don't have to worry about the coaching dynamic or egos as much. That really comes down to the players you select btw in the first place. -.-
You guys already heard the comments from such players as Babytoss who said she had no problems with the food and found her stay quite pleasant.
If its reality show then the only way for this to be entertaining is to have koreans vs foreigners. It would be awesome to hear foreigners talking about Koreans practicing all the time etc. But... Koreans won't survive on sandwiches and fries ; )
I can imagine it now: a 24/7 reality show of how the players react to crappy meals and bedtimes. How long can they take it??? Anyone still in the house after 5 weeks wins ten thousand dollars!
