Question #1: Well... I only made a few beats that were mine, and then I stopped producing. I enjoyed rapping more. I have a USB mic that gives me decent production value. I use a free program called Audacity to make my tracks. I simply download any beat from YouTube or instrumentals I have on my computer and load them into Audacity. Once the beat is loaded into the program, I can simply record my vocals over the beat using my mic. I wear a headset while I record so that my vocals and the beat are in the program separately. I use already established instrumentals for making my tracks.
Question #2: Yes. I have real raps that I finished. I will upload them to YouTube asap in case anybody wants to hear them. I finished my mixtape three weeks ago. I called it "Mixtape 2012" it has 9 songs. Check my YouTube channel in a few hours or by tomorrow I should have some of them uploaded. I have to convert them all to videos.
And rapping has always been just a hobby for me. I would love it if I was pursuing a career in rapping, that would be the life, but that is too risky for me to do. I am currently a Biology major in college looking to go to graduate school.

haha!!! Awesome response!!! I believe you that you will get better at rapping. But this is decent. Use your accent to your advantage and make it sound cool by improving your flow with rapping. I've heard good rappers that rapped in other languages, like european languages, they sound legit. Well, I suppose I'll make a response to this too.

Actually, if you read the thread. I said I use already established beats for making my tracks and that I stopped producing my own beats a long time ago lol. My second track I used the instrumental from Mac Miller. But that's what rappers do, we put our lyrics on already established instrumentals and make tracks. Get a few tracks like that and it's called a mixtape.

MaximusBlack is another starcraft rapper. Have you heard his 2 starcraft rap albums? I have all of them on my computer.
Here is one of his StarCraft raps, check this out, he's so dope!!! He's famous in the StarCraft community.
I'm actually a fan of this guy!!! He used to be in Check Six. I'm real life friends with ex-manager of Check Six "Fujikura". Here is proof that Bacon is friends with Fujikura !!! This was our 1v1 game. This is from the show AoFWeekly that I referenced in my first StarCraft battle rap against Haze.
I just spoke with Fujikura, he said he will contact MaximusBlack about joining in on the fun of StarCraft Rap Battles. He said that MaximusBlack might not be interested as he is a celebrity. But I explained to Fuji that it is not like we are "challenging" a celebrity. It is more like he can challenge any one of us, and only if he wants to have fun with us, of course. So Fuji will suggest it to him, which is super cool of him.
I think that MaximusBlack should join us if he wants to show love for the other StarCraft rappers out there!!!
I honestly just want to hear him produce more StarCraft raps, as I have listened to all of them and they are amazing!! And doing a StarCraft rap battle is a way to do that.
He has a huge fan base so I think it will be great if he joins us it will give us a lot more views and votes!!!

BTW, I have a producer.. Even though I don't make beats, this guy makes my beats for me... I've used beats from YouTube not made by him but for my next track I'll use one of the beats my producer made for me.
I honestly think that people shouldn't give a vote just because the guy made his own beat or not. It should be about the lyrics, the flow, and the delivery.
But I can use my producer's beats for the next one... I'm going to try and produce a beat myself right now. I'll do something that will sound good for StarCraft. I still have some producing skills but I'm not an expert like my producer is. I'll do my best though. I only made a couple good instrumentals that a lot of people liked then I stopped lol. I'd rather get better at rapping than producing you know? lol... Keep it up guys!!! Make your responses soon so I can make my next track to my producer's beats!!

Im wopr and i use to rap before for fun and im soo loving this thread. im making a stab at greenman cause he seems to have a better poll against bacon which had a better poll then haze. i did this out of love of music and nothing personal.

Only thing I'd like to comment about your song is the beat was too soft this time around. I know you make your own beats and by all means that's fantastic!! But don't feel ashamed or lesser if you use a professional, already established instrumental from other rappers. I think if you do that it will improve your rhythm, flow, and delivery, as rap beats that are meant for rap battles go way harder!!
I am not dissing you or putting you down BY ANY MEANS. I love the fact that you produce your own beats! Do not get me wrong! And please continue! All I'm saying is give it a try and use an already established beat from another rapper, or at least listen to already established rap instrumentals that go hard and make your beats like them. This one was kind of soft.
I noticed you have some disses that... well... you listened to my rap battle against JetPax Beat on youtube didn't you? hahaha... glad you heard it I hope you enjoyed it! I'm collabing on a song with him called "Fuck Haters" right now to show people that we are still cool even though we did this rap battle on youtube.
Anyways, it's time to grill you!!! I'm going to spend more time on my lyrics for round 2 and my producer and I are about to serve you with this beat we worked on for this StarCraft rap battle. This time I got my own beat!!!

Please take my advice on the beat though. Anticipate a response in the next couple of days, and maybe even today.
Just a friendly message from a rapper to a beginning rapper... This is what I would say to any friend of mine that recently started rapping (And I influenced many people to start rapping like my neighbor who has been rapping for 2 years now. He got really good!)...
Let me tell you my rapping experience: I have been rapping for almost 3 years now. When I first started it was an obsession, I was having so much fun rapping that for the first 6 months of me rapping all I could do is freestyle all day long (During my 3 hour breaks in between classes). My schedule worked out that way lol. Yeah, I started rapping with freestyling, which some might say is harder than writing raps. Well, your freestyling helps your writing, but it's your flow and delivery, the actual rapping part that becomes WAY BETTER from freestyling. You will get to the point where you can just freestyle about anything you want and not have to stop.
In the beginning writing is very important because your writing helps your freestyling, so write write write! When I first started I opened up a thesaurus looked up synonyms for cool words like "Death" and wrote the cool synonyms like "Assasination" "Annihalation" or "Termination" on a sheet of paper and started thinking of what rhymes with those words. When I found good things that rhyme with those words I wrote them down. Once I had a full sheet of paper filled with cool new rhymes I began to freestyle and end with the rhymes I wrote down, coming up with the sentences on the spot, this really helps.
When I rapped that much for the first 6 months of rapping I could see that I "reached a new level" about every 2 weeks. Improvement is rapid in the beginning. The most fun is when you reach the level where you can freestyle and you have a huge word bank off the top of your head.
So as a conclusion: If you want to improve your flow and delivery, start freestyling! Just give it a try and don't give up! Your freestyling will improve your writing and your writing will improve your freestyling. Use a thesaurus and look up synonyms to enhance your vocabulary.
I got a little cocky with "Noob Annihalation" and wrote the lyrics in less than 20 minutes because I thought I could easily own you because I'm good at rapping. But that seems to not be the case! Lyrics are what count and that's the way it should be! My lyrics were still cool though. These rap battles are all for fun. I'm doing it for fun just like you, WOPR, and Haze.
It is very cool to be rapping with a guy from Sweden, and if these are your first raps, well then that's amazing. Keep going and don't stop!!!
WOPR might not have the best microphone right now but he sure is on top with the flow and delivery, and I would even say lyrics although some might disagree. But flow and delivery for sure!
Take my tips and that might give you the edge against WOPR, good luck my Swedish friend!!!
Just like bacon said, its gotta start from fun and enjoyment cause it wont go anywhere anytime soon without that at all. You definitely have a strong vocab and honestly, thats the hardest thing to acquire when trying to do music. so your more then half way there.
Flow and delivery comes only from a lot of practice, listening to some good rappers and rapping their words along with them helps in understanding how the syllables fit with the beat. i started with learning Eminem songs then downloading some instrumentals of those songs and try to replicate it. that way u see how things fit. Along with flow is this things called "delivery". at least from what i understand it is.. its the raw emotion/expression/feeling u convey as u say those words. its the same as when ur mad, ur voice changes to a different sound. and in my case at least, i find it easier to delivery correctly when i truly believe in my words and emotions.
after that then u find ur own style and flow, soon ull see that u can word play and make words rhyme that technically shouldnt at all, its all on how u pronounce it.
like a said, ur def miles ahead from when i started cause u made urself public where as i kept it underground (too myself). thats also another stage in ur development that u seem not to have any issues at all with.
take the feedbacks, advice and constructive criticism as gold cause u cant rly be ur own critic lol, it never works.

+1 on both for Bacon. Even though that green kid did great coming out with his first rhyme, Bacon did what I've been failing to do for a while now. Blending some nerdy SC2 lyrics with real shit. It's easy to go too far in one direction or the other.
Thats for the feedback everyone! Also as long as it's constructive I will never take it "personal" (but ofcourse I will take it personal xD) because I know most of the things you say! Still it is good to hear this from others more experienced rappers because it feels like you see potential in me (or you wouldnt help me improve). I am no stranger to making music, i've made it for many years. But later months I've been trying to broaden my abilities and this is a way to do this. I have learned other peoples raps some times (like the Epic Rap Battles of history) but I feel this will help me improve.
Bacon, my next track (vs WOPR) I will make over an established track (either one of those free online or a known song). And I agree when you say that the beat is too soft, I'm gonna try to steal some beats from bigger rap names and alter them a little to my style in the future.
WOPR haha I may need some months/years until I deliver the lyrics as good as you, and you really have your own style. I'm sure I will find my style with time aswell. Until then you'll get everything from Dub Step to pure rap!

Since I feel that voters don't really post a lot here I want to explain why I thought Greenman won the first battle: - there were way less noisy elements in his video, Bacon's voice is drowned by all the 'beat' that he likes so much. I understood what Greenman said without the lyrics, I couldn't do that with lots of Bacon's vid. - Greenman's beat is way more melodious, I liked it a lot better.
As I said before, I know nothing of rap and just listen to this for fun so my commentary is that of someone who has no idea of when you win a rapbattle.

Sometimes I think that people that don't listen to rap normally are better at deciding who wins rap battles. Well... at least that goes for my real life friends that don't listen to rap and say that my tracks are good and the delivery comes out well...

Maybe that goes for round 1. But round 2 it's totally different. Check out the track I made for round 2. My producer made the beat for me and I sampled in StarCraft: Brood War sounds in the track. You might enjoy it more.

Ok, so I have started recording some stuff and it turns out to be as bad as i could imagine. This is hard, I haven't really sung or rapped before in my life so everything is new and I feel like my voice and my accent doesn't really fit. But I'll work on the song and I will still deliver it. I have no pride to protect. It'll probably be bad but at least i would have done it.

I disagree with 75, however, I do not think this was the best song in the thread. I think it's a tie between my first one and GL1TCH, then Haze's track, then it's a tie between WOPR's song and the last song by GreenMan.
And this is an opinion of a rap head a guy that listens to rap all day long for years.
This is why I have to consider how I will vote on this. I will post my vote in an in depth analysis. Until then, I will note vote. It will take me some time to decide on the winner. The poll is up btw.
Like I said WOPR, from a guy who is a rapper and listens to rap all day you are quite the challenge. And if the teamliquid voters listened to rap and had any clue of rap battles and what is good or what is better I would have won Round 2 by a landslide. But this just shows one thing: The polls don't mean that much, since I am barely losing Round 2 the teamliquid voters have failed me by proving to me that they have no clue what they are doing. I'm not being mean to GreenMan at all it's just.. being a hip hop head I can tell the difference in lyrics is huge. Metaphors and similes all over the place in mine...

Analysis of lyrics
The lyrics I pasted were the ones that really caught my attention. The overall song production is great. You were successful at making a good sounding song and produced it well. The rest of your lyrics were not bad but were not "wow" like the ones that I pasted. The lyrics for the chorus were good but they were not amazing.
Try to use more metaphors and similes, that's the hardest and most creative and fun things to do with lyrics. It will also add a lot more meaning to your lyrics and make them "amazing" lyrics.
Analysis of flow:
You have improved greatly since your first song. It got better and better and this song your skill level is way higher than a scrubbie at rapping. You really improved to the point where I now consider your raps "real rapper raps" because you sounded like a real rapper this time. Your first one was a nice attempt at rapping. Your second one was like half way there. But this time you sounded like a real rapper, you actually had a flow, and I am very happy about this. Keep going with rapping because I see a lot of potential in you.
Analysis of delivery:
In order to have good delivery you need more DOPE lyrics. Lyrics that come out with STRENGTH. because you're saying something very meaningful. I think you should improve on your lyrics and mean what you say more. However you made it very entertaining and the laughing in the background and other background sounds like the "Hihi" part improved on your song and your delivery.
Overall your track was very enjoyable.

Now that was some BOMB lyrics. That's some dope lyrics for a StarCraft Rap and I think that that is your strength with these StarCraft rap battles. Making some BOMB starcraft rap battle lyrics. The lyrics for the chorus were outstanding! Like GreenMan said, your chorus gets stuck. It's very catchy and perfect for a chorus for a StarCraft song.
Analysis of flow:
This line:

sick flow. The rest of your song your flow was sick. Of course we would all love it if you had a better mic to produce great quality tracks like GreenMan or at least decent quality tracks like mine but your flow outweighs the quality of the production. Same thing as analysis of flow. They go hand in hand. I can see you are a very skilled rapper. You already know what you're doing with rapping.
Comparing the two tracks:
GreenMan came out strongly with the great production. His song just came out very enjoyable because he has a great voice I think... That's what I think his main strength was. WOPR had the better lyrics and better chorus. GreenMan really improved on the flow, but WOPR remains the more skilled rapper with his flow and delivery.
I'm not trying to be too harsh on GreenMan but I'm voting based on Lyrics, Flow, and Delivery and it seems that WOPR is the more skilled rapper. Obviously, you can hear he has more experience. But I like you too GreenMan!!
It makes me proud that these are your first raps. I got you started with rapping? Hell yes!!! So as a conclusion, my vote goes for WOPR

It's not that. This is the StarCraft community not a rap community. I should have expected that honestly I didn't see it at first when I typed that, and then I thought about it and typed "I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion" and that the polls don't mean so much to me.
It's fine whichever way the voters choose to vote, but it still wouldn't change my perspective on the voter outcome. I'm allowed to think I'm better if I think I hit harder with my flow and sounded better at rapping. And for round 2 I did so much for the lyrics. I got better results.
Regardless of what voters think I would like to emphasize one point: I respect it. Voters can feel free to vote whichever way they want. Me thinking it's absolutely crazy to see someone else win when I think it's obvious that I crushed them lyrically as well as rapping-wise doesn't mean I don't respect the other people voting for the guy. It's all fair game I think.
I wasn't whining at all... I apologize if anybody got this impression... I'm chill about this whole thing. I'm doing this for fun just like everybody else participating in these rap battles. Nothing is serious here. I just thought it was crazy that it wasn't a landslide victory in Round 2 vs GreenMan. I'm entitled to my own opinion as well as others on this site.
My style is hard, as you can tell, and I think I execute my style combined with StarCraft very well.
I'm a real rapper. This is how I do me, and I've blended it with StarCraft and I think I pulled it off legit. I've been rapping since way before these StarCraft raps ^__^

I totally agree with you BaconX, Don't follow the advices and critiques of people that have less experiences. You have a good ears and a good sense of judgement. You already have your idea on what you delivered and what can be improved. If we all follow the votes, we would all end up doing the same song.

It's okay if there are small random noises. I personally use the window recorder, then I use sound forge to edit and paste my voice on top of the track. Sound forge also let me tweak the volume and make some little effects. Soundforge is not a free program if you download it legally. I'm really happy you joined the battle

I laughed out loud at the last line. In my opinion it's the best line ever posted in this thread. A lot of humour in your lyrics, coupled with the heavy puns aimed at Bacon-X makes it a very strong text. The track is a little too short sized in my opinion,

Ok, so you did a chill rap, and I have nothing against that, Your track is really easy to listen multiple times in a row. Your voice were quite low, but somehow, it's still really easy to understand evey single line you're rapping. You really fit to this instrumental, which could have been a really hard thing to do for most rappers here. Your voice is awesome and I feel like you're using that advantage way too much : there is like no variation in your track (i know the instrumental didn't really have some, but your rhymes goes AA-BB-CC the whole song, the length of the line, where always almost equal during the whole song. Some variation, either in the way you rap or in the lyric composition, would have make the track less linear. Beside that, it's a really enjoyable track to listen !

Your lyrics were violent, and I like that, because this is a battle rap after all. You did a good job to counter diss him but I got used to hear some better lyrics from you Bacon Some of the lines were a bit cheesy, You're losing points on Lyrics to score on flow and delivery, I'd say you make a advantageous trade on this track, but I know you can have both on mark. I don't give a good note, because I know, like you do, that you used us to better than this.

I said your chorus's lyrics were a bit cheesy, but the way you deliver them is really really good.. These two lines : "And still win cause I can actually rap, you sounded like crap It's not an opinion, no it's more like a fact" I totally love the way you rapped those lines.

Comparing the two tracks:
Two very different approaches to the rap and I love that !! Rah came like a fresh wind on our little scene, I had fun listening and rating this battle ! The chill approach of Rah really works well in battle, it's like saying "Make as much noise as you want, i'm not impressed"
For the lyrics : The agressive stance from Bacon is very well executed as susual, most of the lines were some brutal battle rap lyrics, but overall I'll say that Rah wins the contest Lyrics wise, I got multiple smile and even a laugh while listening to his track, and i value that highly.
For the flow and delivery part (i have great difficuly to understand the difference between both) : I'll say that it's a shame that Rah's track was so short and linear, I want to hear more of his voice ! Bacon-X's rap fluent, and his voice carries a lot of energy. Bacon-X wins on this side

I should say something about your review Diks. I appreciate the feedback. In those final lines that you liked, I changed up my accent to sound more Kanye or something. I don't usually put as much stress on the A sounds like that, but you don't know me well enough to catch that. Other than that though I didn't really change it up, I just did what I think sounds good.

I actually made this thread at first with another rapper who is more experienced than me. I went against Haze, he's been rapping for many more years than I have. The other people joining and going against me was all unexpected and I just did it for fun...

well with that in mind I wouldnt win any battle because I have very little experience with rap, but I'm innovative and can make up some pretty nice lyrics. So if you have the attitude that the one most technically skilled rapper wins it will be very easy for you to vote in every battle :-)

Greenman vs Dieselbear is quite the battle. I love the relaxed and old school feel of Dieselbear's stuff and that Greenman brought something new to this thread with his track. I remembered the first time I clicked on his video and how surprised I was about what made its way into my tuba auditiva. When I clicked on DB's video I got exactly what I expected - an outstanding rap. I'm going with the new, the experimental and exciting track and therefore Greenman.

This line right here I thought sounded good at the time, but now after digging around for a while I realize I subconsciously stole it. It surfaced from a song that I haven't heard in like 10 years, and I didn't even remember it right. Thinking "Canibus" as I was writing probably triggered it for me, it's so mysterious how the brain works. Vinnie Paz did it better though, but my other lines were all me.
