ESF screwed over any of their players who wanted to participate in the OSL. Right now they're no better than Kespa and being used as pawns. I guess it's time to boycott all korean sc2?

Do you know how to read? The ESF contacted EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in the OSL and asked them if they were okay with this. They unanimously supported the decision. Notice how the statement was made by Nestea as well.

Do you really think Kespa went through the same process? ESF is a PLAYERS association, Kespa is NOT.

You think the players would willingly turn down the chance to compete in a televised individual league, something they've probably been wanting since they became pros?

Why wouldn't they if they think the alternative is death of GSL, their teams, and assimilation by KeSPA, who would restrict access to International tournaments?

Omg, this is gonna be really bad. I understand that ESF is doing this to protect their players so that Kespa cannot do what they want with everyone and control the ESF players, but like someone said above, it's gonna hurt OSL, aka OGN, more than anything.

By announcing their decision, even if it was a big jerk and douchebag move, Kespa didn't damage the GSL at all, except for maybe pulling away a couple of Jaedong/Flash/Bisu fangirls and some viewers. But at least they told them in time and, anyways, GSL has more than enough players to fill all the spots (since there is an open qualification process).

I still think that this "war" is gonna be more harmful to the ESF players than to the Kespa ones since the former (at least the top players like MC, MVP, MKP) have a lot more chances to win when the leagues are mixed up, while the chances of a Kespa player winning or advancing in the GSL are rather small.

Anyways, I hope that all of this is going to settle up, even if Blizzard needs to intervene. This is so retarded that everyone gets penalized in the end because one organisation wants total control over their players who are able to take care of themselves anyways.

EDIT: Someone should update the OP to let everyone know about the recent turn of events. Anyways, even if it's settled for now, this is just a pushing the confrontation back and I think it's gonna come back every time there is a major event and Kespa feels that their control is slipping away.

Shit like this is why Korea and the rest of the world had their 'curtain' for BW- I mean, IEM and MLG are great and all, but they can't hold a candle to GSL / OSL... OSL, MSL, and SPL have been BW for years and years- GSL is 2 years old, and MLG goes with the tide of what games are popular... if it becomes KeSPA v Blizz again, it is going to kill the scene- again...
I agree completely with what FXOBoss said- but, I'm gonna have to side with KeSPA on this one... I don't wanna watch my BW heroes get steamrolled by the new kids on the block just because they haven't had time enough to transition to SC2 pro play. I think the ESF decision is childish, and they should just shrug it off- rather than feeling like the jilted bride that they are...
Man the fuck up, show them that you are better than that, and roll with the punches! Did NASL lay down and die when their initial criticism was through the roof? No- they persevered and are now doing something great for the community. Is GOM going to die from the KeSPA boycott? Probably not. Will GOM die if Blizzard gets involved? Definitely...

you don't want to see your favourite players getting beat? lol drop the pride. they've already caught up, you can't use that as an excuse and neither are kespa because they know it's silly. ESF being childish? they did it because they know kespa's decision is a sinister one, they're defending themselves because their survivability is at stake here.

No, letting their players play and win Code A qualifiers is actually good for Kespa. But the BW pros are not at their full SC2 potential yet. Yes, some like Roro and herO really rock the house in WCS but that doesn't mean that all Kespa players have a good shot at reaching Code A.

For me, the Kespa decision was just precautious to wait after this season of Proleague finishes and there is a time of buffer inc which every Kespa player can get accomodated to SC2. Because right now, every player that is still playing bw to play for his team, lags behind in SC2 skill. Its just that simple.

I'm sure you're 100% correct and Kespas just saving face and not trying to monopolize sc2 like they did bw. Because that wouldn't make sense, Kespa's not like that at all.
hi. big fan.

bahahaha wtf, kespa ALREADY turned back and allows their players to participate in GSL? wtfff... makes you think it wasn't a problem for them to begin with.

anywayyyyy... i'm happy

edit: just read only season 5. well duh, that means they didn't achieve anything. at that time they can still say "nope we don't wanna"

This was a completely necessary move. Probably exactly what ESF was created to do. They want to show Kespa they can't be bullied. And it worked.

Same. Nothing prevents KeSPA from backing out of next season while they formulate a backup plan and try to calm down the PR firestorm.

I don't get why this is such a big deal.
You guys understand that this isn't Brood War and blizzard has every organization and tournament that wants to run sc2 practically by the balls.
Blizzard can strong arm anyone into anything if they want to run with their product. If not, lights out.

They're participating in GSL Season 5.

This will save them the embarassment of a fragmented OSL for now but I bet they'll make up another scheduling excuse for season 5 and this time be prepared for whatever ESF throws at them.

Why would they care if GSL died? If they got picked up by kespa teams they would make more money and play on tv.

I can't believe the little guy complex you people all have. It's honestly making me uncomfortable to even post here.

like some others have said it should be s4 or nothing because there isn't anything stopping kespa pulling out in s5 either.

from what I understood with very very basic understanding, kespa said that they back off and let the players play in GSL 5( the next one not the upcoming one) and they hope that the eSF players don't boycott the OSL so that they can start the Ro16 smoothly on the 28th.

Well I've always been a fan of the GSL more then KeSPA don't know why. I like this, but hopefully they can come to some mutual agreement amongst each other.
