All I know is that whatever Kespa did for the past 10 years, it worked and we had a wonderful decade of joy, tears and sweat.
Kespa is made of sponsors, sponsors who helped Starcraft become what it is today, sponsors who over the years pour money into an investment that never returns any profit(directly). If you love Starcraft as an e-sport, then the last thing you want is Kespa(aka sponsors) to disappear.

LOL at the "For the sake of ESPORTS" comments, so cheesy. Not that eSports exists anyway. This is very interesting news, can't wait to see what happens next.

Gives them enough time to let OSL finish and "change their mind" afterwards.

Do you know how to read? The ESF contacted EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in the OSL and asked them if they were okay with this. They unanimously supported the decision. Notice how the statement was made by Nestea as well. Do you really think Kespa went through the same process? ESF is a PLAYERS association, Kespa is NOT.
You think the players would willingly turn down the chance to compete in a televised individual league, something they've probably been wanting since they became pros?

Honestly this is probably the best thing that has been done yet. People have been saying for years that the players need to take a stand, work together, etc. - well, now they're doing it, on an issue that basically has only one reasonable resolution: they win.
Since KeSPA saw sense, we have a solid precedent for players as a bargaining power.
If KeSPA didn't do the sensible thing, they were that much closer to becoming irrelevant, government backing or no government backing.
Short of star players like Flash and Bisu who make the big bucks - and maybe not even them - who's going to continue playing for or renew contracts with a team that's working for an agency that has no regard for what players and fans want? Especially when you consider that the GOM-registered teams will gladly pick up these guys, at least the top players. If top-performing KeSPA SC2 players - say, RorO and herO[jOin], relative nobodies in BW - start defecting to IM, MVP, NSHS, etc., KeSPA basically dies.

For people that doesn't read the threads:
ITS SETTLED, KESPA AGREES ON THEIR TEAMS COMING TO GOM:

They've done good, but they're also incrediably terrible when it comes to alot of things, they don't need to disappear, they need to change.

Yes, because that is EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID.

I wish Kespa would honor the memory of Woo Jeong Ho by letting their players join GSL. Of course I can't confirm this but I think Woo Jeong Ho would have wanted esports to grow both in Korea and the international scene.
The decision of Kespa is just an indignity to the memory of Woo Jeong Ho.

I doubt it. KeSPA probably learned their lesson. Besides it's a win win. What they want to do is steal the competition from foreign tournaments and team up with GOM in inventing a new age of the "Korean wave" (also known as Koreans are stealing all our jobs). It'd be a win-win for them.
|
And next season, Kespa will say there are planning issues all over again ? I bet this wont resolve the issue. GOM won't take the risk to get fucked again.
|
I don't know, I think I might side with Kespa on this one. I think they want to develop SC2 into a league sport in Korea with the structure of a real sports team so they can control and market it better.
|
Only season 5?
If it were me, I wouldn't budge unless they participate in 4 as well.
