Also new names were revealed in the open bracket, and MC, MVP, NESTEA and many more are there, this event will be epic. Also for LOL it seems Joe Miller will be there to give us fun!
Wow really great event coming up - the groups are pretty good on their own, but add the open bracket heavy hitters and you got the perfect mixture of high quality games :D
Its nice to see familiar names, and some smaller ones too, but could you at least put ALL the casters in a nice list?

Celebrity caster 1
Celebrity caster 2
Ceelbrity caster 3
Caster NOT every single SC2 fan knows i.e. the point of a thread about this, to discuss the ones who aren't completely obvious
Sick player and caster line-up, a weakness of previous IEMs was always that the player line-up was lackluster excpt of maybe Hannover. I hope they get a good amount of viewers now.
ups, eh it is stated in the news but eh i forgot it, yeah Cole is the MAN!!! will be an epic event, glad to see that they did not stick to the same old same old ROTTi and Bitter, even if these two are massive casters, but let's face it day nine tastosis, neat!

Rotti and Bitter did all the IEMs because they were with ESL, now that they are based in California and working for a different organisation they don't have time to fly over for IEM
I'm very suprirsed to see Nestea and MVP in the open brackets. Nestea just does not have the greatest stamina, and I believe he's going to be in California this weekend for IPL - pretty crazy schedule for him. The open bracket for MVP just sounds like the most exhausting thing ever for him. Haha Glad to see them there cause I love them - I just hope they don't regret it XD Super stoked Oz is there though - Top 3 gogogo!
This event is just looking better and better though! Glad Artosis is there, and it should be exciting!
Edit: Grammar - should really proof read before i post =P

you need 2 bo3 to get into group stages, not that bad tbh.

Looks like 3 bo3, but yeah, i suppose your right - i was thinking of MLG style open brackets =P

while having more money for players is certainly a good thing, i still like to see tip top casters for events like this. excellent casters are always needed to energize the attendees/supporters and also to successfully promote an event.

agreed i just personally rather see tastosis + kaelaris + others. take out day9, save a ton of money and give it back to the players. or leave in day9 and take out tastosis.
i always feel somewhat disappointed when i hear about a great run in a tournament, check it out on liquipedia and see that since they finished 9th they earned $0 or 9th and earned $200 (for a 3 day tourny).

There was a time when events that i watched stopped having day9.. now with TSL and IEM i am very sad
Is not that i don't like the guy or think he "makes to much money and will be the Fatality of starcraft" but i really, really hate how he tries to do in depth analysis of something by framing it into a generic template and not actually analyzing the strategy and strategic choices based on current meta game.
I fell like instead of hiring him they could have gone for about 2 "unknown" European casters and maybe it would have cost a little bit less, the final 8 will likely best 80% Tastosis anyway so if you need some more casters for the open bracket/less important matches ... etc why not pick the up and coming guys, they need to find a new biterdam tbh and its not like they afford hiring one of the "big casting duos" atm.
Meh... I'm hating too much today. At least the lineup is insane, not all the Europeans i would like to see tho and that kinda of makes me sad panda, but still.

i think that's how day9 approaches the game. to attract non-gamers and non-sc2 players, he needs to analyze the game and try to cast it using basic/generic terms. but for hardcore sc2 players, yeah it will probably come out as "meh".

Im sad that MMA decided to withdraw from the tournament. He made it through qualifiers and then he is just like im out. I was hoping he would regain some confidence by winning this

i still like his castings and streams tho :D
Its not like I have something against casting for less good players. But why not do it Artosis style than ? Is there anyone at a "bronze level" even that can say he doesn't understand Artosis, or even Apollo ? They pretty much explain the tactic that each of the opponents are doing and how the tactic interact with each other at a very basic level and than they go into stuff such as meta game, subtilities that each player does, positioning.
Day9 will just ramble on about how gas timing influences a build, completely ignore how the build interact with each other and in the end it just seems like a "clusterfuck" of thoughts some of which are almost irrelevant compared to other things he omits the whole game.
I understand this style might be what he uses in his dailyes and what not but for casting a game you ether have to say the "cold hard thought" first and talk about smaller things later like the previously mentioned caster do or just ramble on nonsensical things and try to be funny and make jokes along with it... Husky , TB.. etc do that, im oky listening to there cast.
I don't know, maybe its just me but i really don't like the guys casting and every time an events bring him along due to the number of fans he was it just makes me fell sad that other better ( at least in my opinion ) and cheaper caster could be bought instead.

I think tensions in the SlayerS team made him withdraw, i mean with the removal of Crank and the heated disscusion between Crank and Jesica.

I care more about the actual players competing than the actual casters. MC, MVP and Nestea are good highlights. Should be fun!
sad taht they didn't choose soe to host it I think she did a great job at nasl, assembly and the WCS events
awesome lineup of casters eventhough I'm gonna miss my favourite caster (apollo ofc xD) he was always so great together with day9 tournament is going to be epic too (I hope we see how much Xlord improved since he went fulltime sc2 like a month or 2 ago) and some of the germans (especially xlord dbs and hasu) do well gogo gamescom gogo IEM ♥
I think the bigger news is that all 3 of MC MVP And Nestea are going to a foreign tournament at the same time to compete in an open bracket.. im shack and fucking pumped

which would be pretty stupid by them since kael is their 24/7/53 payed caster....
Why would they replace an awesome caster with an awesome caster? That simply doesn't make sense.
Well Apollo or husky. The more known the caster the more viewers. IEM is a business and they're out to make money. Not bringing in Apollo or a known caster isn't too good for views on their part.

Yeesh, they already have the 3 most expensive commentators in the business, do you really think bringing in a 4th from the "A-list" will really help that much?
You've gotta be shitting me, the exact days of this are the only days I'm going to be in California. ;_; I might have to avoid my family and just watch SC2 the entire trip with this tournament going on. Does anyone know when/where/if the vods will be posted?
