JP, you did very well with this interview, it must have been pretty awkward to ask the tougher questions, considering you are friends with Idra. GL Idra, I've always enjoyed your analytical casting and am glad you want to enter this field

And how was he able to only go to one therapist session?! If they picked a bad therapist you find a better one, not just give up. EG seems almost entirely to blame for being totally incapable of managing IdrA and in creating an environment in which he knew the boundaries and was constantaly aware of his adoring fan base.
As time goes on I have less and less respect for EG and it's management.
Uhhhh this is called deflecting responsibility. EG did the best they could. Just ask scoots on twitter as others have asked. EG could only do so much. They can't babysit idra 24/7. Idra is a man and responsible for his own actions.
You're also forgetting one of the core issues for idra being unhappy. He just didn't like playing sc2 and hated the game itself. That's something EG could never fix.
It's not at all deflecting and it's what mainstream teams do for there players, espeically there highest paid players. IdrA not enjoying the game is a problem they probably couldn't fix, but his actions are a result of poor management. Had IdrA know those comments would have got him fired he wouldn't have made them, had he been in a better place mentally he plays those games vs Polt out and life goes on.
Uhhhhhnnnn I don't know if that's fair. They warned IdrA plenty of times.
And honestly, most employers don't give ultimatums — which is what you or IdrA is suggesting would be fair. EG is not his parents. They're not going to say, "Do this, or else!"
Employers shouldn't have to blackmail their employees into doing their job. If you're the kind of person that waits around for someone to give them an ultimatum before choosing to take your job seriously, than you probably don't deserve or want that job in the first place.
There's a long line of really talented players out there that would happily take IdrA's place, and you wouldn't even have to tell them that what IdrA did was wrong.
I have a job, I know what is and isn't acceptable to say to customers, clients or anyone else while I represent my employers, IdrA didn't seemingly have any clue (as he said as much in the interview)... EG not making there players aware of boundaries seems like a pretty large error on there part.
I'm not defending IdrA and I'm not a fan of his at all, but this was a seemingly inevitable event helped in no small way by the mismanagement of EG
Some things are so painfully obvious that they don't need to be explicitly stated, as they are just part of normal human behavior. I'm sure your employer never literally told you: "Do not say fuck you, fag or retard to our customers. Do not threaten to rape them with a hot iron if they annoy you. Do not wish them to get sick with cancer." and so on. It's just common sense for a grown up to never say things like these. I'm 100% certain Idra has received multiple warnings by EG, and he said as much on the real talk. Maybe EG as his employer should have been more clear to define limits, but I think they clearly went beyond their responsibilites to help him by hiring a sports psychiatrist etc. It certainly didn't help that Scoots as part of the management seemed to have encouraged him in this behavior, that might be what has thwarted their efforts to change him.
It's funny that JP, that define himself as, what, an "esport and nerd culture content producer" (?) is the best non amateur (meaning that do this professionnally) journalist we have at the moment. The intro of this mini real talk was awesome, with JP's deep voice and clear explanation.
Good interview. Great to hear Idra pursuing non-playing career instead. MLG already "kind of" offered him to cast MLG, so i'm looking forward to that and hoping it happens. Sad to hear he won't be on ITG anymore though.

Greg was well aware of what I was ok with and what I was not ok with. We did often joke about the "no GG drama" and some of his trashtalking of opponents. I am fine with both of those things depending on the words used and he was well aware. To think I condoned or encouraged his forum behavior or his insults to Blizzard etc is beyond silly.

people seem to be missing the line between calling someone a piece of shit and telling someone to get cancer ;D
In light of IdrA's interview, it's painfully obvious that IdrA was the kind of employee that mistook a lack of punishment from management as some form of tacit approval or indifference, even when they repeatedly confronted him about it. He himself admits that he felt he was overpaid for what did.
He did what a lot of people do when they start to hate their job — they stop trying and start coasting.
JP seems to have stepped away from SC2. I doubt that there'll be new SC2-related shows soon. He's mostly producing content in the general gaming segment and of course, he's got his RollPlay series, which are really successful atm.

Nuuuuuuuuuuu What roll play about?
It is a Live Stream of a DnD campaign played over webcam and mic.
It features JP, iNControl, LivinPink, MLGRyan (Bregor) and Neal from SC2 ratings as the DM, it is really good stuff

They already started 2 additional campaigns by now, actually. One is Dark Heresy (which is Warhammer 40k) and the other is a regular DnD where JP is the DM. It seems to work very well, seeing how he has 3 seperate campaigns going right now who all get very nice numbers.
So I guess this show is never coming back? Even if he doesn't do it with SC2 personalities he could just do stuff like LoL/DotA people and still get plenty of views...

Yeah I think he was done with with shit from the community and decided it wasn't worth the aggro.
