Becuase if it's random people, it's basically the same as joining a custom game on a standard ladder map, which matches you with online people already "We also intend to have our first version of unranked play so you will have the ability to match-make against like-skilled players without having to affect your ladder ranking while you practice off-race or experiment with a new build order." It will be based off MMR, but wins/losses wont have any affect on MMR nor your league rank.

On the other hand, I'm having a hard time believing that HOTS will launch in 2012 with working versions of all these features.

And they still can't commit to releasing with heart of the swarm, only "at or around the release of HotS".

Sorry but I will believe this when I see it. All of this could have been implemented at any time pre or post release but they didn't consider it important enough. What Blizzard don't seem to realise is lack of these features caused a lot of people to stop playing, the whole experience was just too isolating. -Couldn't watch replays together -Couldn't try funsie builds to keep game fresh w/o hemorrhaging ladder points -No clan support! -Can't play with online friends from overseas w/o forking out $$ for another account. The community would have been even stronger than it is now if these features had been included from beta/release. Why they think these things aren't important to growing their game is just idiotic, especially when they have all the knowledge of what made their previous games successful. Foremost, it is and always will be, a community of players. /rant

I mean they are giving me the content of a full game+multiplayer bonuses which is certainaly worth the cost of a full game.

This stuff is all base line, and they still aren't where Dota 2 or LoL is with their infrastructure such that we can watch our friends ladder or play games on a delay or with only their fog of war which has basically become standard. And they still can't commit to releasing with heart of the swarm, only "at or around the release of HotS". Lol didn't even had replays until recently.....

Yeah because they had to tap into that esports fountain that was only flowing in 2010. This is also assuming that features that we had in games 12 years ago would take that long to implement. These functions aren't something that you should get in an expansion, they are easy to implement and should've been patched into the game as soon as Blizzard realized people's demand for them (which should've been back in the beta of 2010). I used to be happy to help fund Blizzard. Now I consider them a scourge of the gaming market, a company who's ideals must be fought for the sake of us gamers - and the only way a customer can fight is with his wallet. Coming from console gaming and having to pay for Xbox Live and a new COD every 6 months, you won't see me complaining. As long as this will remain a good game for years to come, I don't mind paying $60 for the expansions. Just the attitude pc gaming doesn't need. I don't see the rationale of paying that much for an expansion. Depends on the expansion size. An update like this is HUGE. It brings a new campaign, new units, TONS of balance work and now all these new features we were asking for. It seems comparable in scale to the original game, or at least comparable enough to warrant paying 60 dollars for it. If it was just the new campaign, or even the new campaign and the tons of work going into creating and balancing the new units during and after development, I wouldn't pay full price. Fortunately for them, this laundry list of awesome features that they just dumped on us warrants the payment I feel. new units that could be made in map editors right now. TONS of balance work that no one wants/game doesn't need. "new" features we had in games that are decade old.
