In all seriousness, I'd really love to see warp gate reworked into the game, as well as the Colossus removed and replaced with something like a Reaver rather than this derp 1a unit.

I don't think the unranked match making will have much effect (if any) on the ladder population, I mean for those people who suffer ladder fear/anxiety, they don't even play much in the first place anyways don't they?
If anything, I could see it helping in the long run, the unranked matches can help people who are changing races/coming back after a layoff the practice games they need to regain their form and confidence. Nobody likes to see themselves get demoted and such by taking loss after loss due to them being out of game shape (or when trying new builds and so on).
At the very least it should help retain the casual players who gave up on the game quickly due to ladder fear, as they might never had the chance to appreciate the game properly.

It's nice but it's really saddening that a person made the resume from replay feature for FREE in his spare time for fun, and it's going to take blizzard months to release an expansion you have to pay for to get the feature that is already public if you use a 3rd party program for free..

i think ladder anxiety is more an effect of bnet 2 than the ladder itself.
I used to ladder bw all the time and loved the challenge, challenging people, etc i get so nervous when i click the "find game" button or whatever in sc2... i hardly ever ladder, and it makes me sad because i used to love it ;_;

I might buy HOTS after all.... so happy

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I really really really hope the unranked ladder system will allow us to pick the matchup we get. I really really want to have a system where I can play a player of my level quickly when I want to practice a matchup!

Unranked matchmaking and global play sound especially awesome
Kinda sad they're not crediting the idea for the resume from replay thing
|
thanks for finally giving us something we should have already had blizzard
fuck you

Awesome changes indeed, now a total revamp for bnet 2.0's interface and we'll be good all set!

SOOOOOO truuuuuueee lol....
but this is still an exciting news. i'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but it seems like blizzard want to slowly improve the game so that they have something to sell for the new expansion packs.

I was honestly thinking of not getting HotS, but with Blizz listening to the community and adding in these features I will be getting it for sure. I am looking forwards to Clan support and shared replay functionality.

A lot of people are being critical of Blizzard for giving features that they expected to be in SC2 from the first place. However, it's rather cynical and, in my mind, silly to say that Blizzard intentionally omitted these things just to milk the expansions.
A: that doesn't really make as much financial sense, because if anything, omitting these features probably disenchanted a large number of consumers in the first place, who probably already dropped SC and won't pay attention to the next games that come out. If they included these features in the next place, the reaction to the expansion would most likely be purely anticipated excitement, rather than what we see in this thread, which is a strange mish-mosh of hesitant hope and bitter acceptance.
B: Blizzard's changes have been very much reactive - not only are they very much responding to the current trend of complaints, both in balance changes and in UI changes, much of their proposed changes in the expansions don't seem to be some sort of "hidden puzzle pieces" that were meant to be added all along.
Look at the new units proposed in HotS. Half of them have already been scrapped or redesigned, really reflecting this "doing it as we go along" sort of thing, which makes me think that Blizzard honestly just fucked up by hiring designers/designing the game without these key social features. Logically, their thinking was one of centralization in order to "minimize" negative features like offensive language or annoying 12-year-old hosts that monopolize custom game lobbies, but what Blizzard didn't realize was that this decentralization was also key to Battle.net's general success in forming communities. It's kind of like the mistake in overprotecting a kid, sometimes the bumps and bruises are necessary for that kid to enjoy a more adventurous and wondrous life, and metaphorically, the same applies to Battle.net where open lobbies, clans, and custom game hosting might be needed too.

Automated tournaments. Then we can finally be (almost) at full 2003 technology!

lol I guess they're waiting for the next expansion to fix the custom game system.

Still no LAN.
You wonder why Blizzard insists on not putting that in, especially when they had it for BW.

this is so depressing. the feeling that the last 2 years ive been using an intentionally shitty product [since all the updates are coming with HOTS and just not patched into WOL after a very long time of listening to the community] just to make people feel like this is so angering. oh well at least we are closer to bw
