I mean, all the features are great, and have been asked for or bitched about for a while for the most part, but WTF blizzard, its pretty obvious your sitting on some feature-rich changes and addons for bnet being released with HotS, but that just means your being greedy and not patching any of them into WoL bnet because you want to force everyone that wants a full BNET2.0 to buy all 3 expansions, why not just charge for bnet 0.0002 itself..
tldr;
these are BNET features, not HotS features, release them in a patch separate of HotS as it should be.
They'll probably be patched into WoL when HotS comes out.
Yeah, they do the same thing with WoW. Actual content like new classes and new areas you can only access with the expansion, but any changes to skills or content existing in pre-expansion areas, that's patched in for people who don't have the expansion.

While I'll def. have to purchase the expansion I can't help but hate Blizzard even more for being a company that makes money by screwing customers over.
These functions aren't something that you should get in an expansion, they are easy to implement and should've been patched into the game as soon as Blizzard realized people's demand for them (which should've been back in the beta of 2010).
I used to be happy to help fund Blizzard. Now I consider them a scourge of the gaming market, a company who's ideals must be fought for the sake of us gamers - and the only way a customer can fight is with his wallet.
Coming from console gaming and having to pay for Xbox Live and a new COD every 6 months, you won't see me complaining. As long as this will remain a good game for years to come, I don't mind paying $60 for the expansions.
Just the attitude pc gaming doesn't need. I don't see the rationale of paying that much for an expansion.
and what exactly is the problem with payn 60$ for a game? the word expansion has not the same meaning like 5/10 years ago. that what you are referring to its called now dlc. and hots is not an dlc...
It's sounds great but in the every day ladder life you still can't reconnect which is annoying (especially in 2/3/4on2/3/4 where dc's of course happen more often).
MULTIPLAYER REPLAY VIEWING!!!! YESSS FINALLY!!!!! OMG. I've been waiting so long for this and I'd never understood why it wasn't implemented to begin with like they had in SC1. This is a great step forward. They really are listening! =D
Woo! I'm very interested to see exactly how the unranked matchmaking will work. Clearly there's some sort of MMR behind it, or they couldn't call it "matchmaking", but it makes a big difference whether or not it has anything to do with your normal ladder MMR. My guess is that it will be just like having a second ladder account which doesn't have a profile or stats of any kind, with nothing to do with your normal ladder games. That sounds great to me, but I don't see it making as much of a difference as people seem to think. Sure, it's wonderful on paper for the thousands of players who don't play much or at all due to ladder fear, but it's not like those players are uncomfortable with seeing a league and ranking, those players are uncomfortable with the stress of playing (and losing) a competitive game. If people play unranked games and try just as hard, it will be exactly the same experience.
The problem with unranked matchmaking is that the big reason people want it is somewhat incompatible with "matchmaking". Personally, I want two big buttons, one that says "Find Match" and pits me against someone who's just as good as I am and also wants to win a game, and another one right next to it that says "Fuck Around" and pits me against someone who also wants to do something ridiculous like max out on immortals to watch them one-shot buildings. But the more I click that unranked match button, the more I win unranked games, so my invisible unranked ranking goes up, so my opponents get stronger, and the unranked games start to look more and more like real games...
I guess it would be very useful if you want to switch races, but if it was unranked, how would you know when your off race got as good as your old main race and it was time to start playing ranked again? If enabling race switching was the goal, they should just give you 3 (or 4) different rankings, one for each race.
Better late than never... All this should have been ready at WOL launch. Its not a great step forward.. Its a step to where they should have been like two years ago.
Don't get me wrong though.. Glad to see all the changes.
Just glad these things are getting added. Blizzard's recently doing a pretty decent job with the game, improving map pools and making mostly sensible changes. SC2 is slowly shaping up and I'm excited about the direction this game is taking!
And I've never regretted spending money on any Blizzard game. Ever. They're a business and their product beats everyone else's. I'm happy to throw down another $60 on this game, I'm having too much fun with it.
Great news indeed A lot more userfriendly with a tons of it (especially the grp replay viewer) but being able to continue from replays/saved games will help tournaments a ton aswell.
This is great news for the game, the players and eSports
Overall great news! I do fear that unranked matchmaking might kill the ladder. Everyone will be too concerned with how many points they have. I wonder what the unranked thing would be like anyway? All people doing crazy strategies?
Does anyone know if the unranked matchmaking will have MMR or if it will be just random people? Becuase if it's random people, it's basically the same as joining a custom game on a standard ladder map, which matches you with online people already

please read..
We also intend to have our first version of unranked play so you will have the ability to match-make against like-skilled players without having to affect your ladder ranking while you practice off-race or experiment with a new build order.
