I have noticed that many casts of SC2 are customising the graphics settings somehow beyond what you have in the menus.
The colors are stronger Seems like some things are more light sourcey (Eg mineral patches) Things seem crisper. On some streams contrary to the crispness they have a nice shiny sheen which I also want to know how to get.
Eg The high quality GSL ... iirc it even seems to have some kind of diffusion effect (That tbh im not that keen on). Am sure other leagues/tourneys have had casts with similar enhancements (eg mlg).
This guy has nice settings
The game seems darker with more contrast than mine ... so i played with gamma. I reduced it but i still cant get that kind of contrast. That exhausts allt he sliders i have to play with in game . I have everything on max btw. The thing is his looks high contrast on my machine so i don't think i want to start playing with my graphics drivers colour balance in general. Its something specific probably a game setting that i dont know about.
Now his stream res is lower ... but the fact remains that the first stream looks better than my actual game does. It is just cleaner and brighter and more vivid. I want that dammit!
I googled around and searched on here but not found anything. So thanks if someone can link me up :D
update: changed my gfx card from rgb -> CCbCr-444 and noticed an immediate difference all around tbh. Although that is just colour fidelity / vibrance it doesnt give me the graphics effect i wanted (but has made color more vivid - as in maybe that is what i lost when i switched from crt to tft)

its a global setting goto nvidia control panel -> adjust desktop colour resolution -> digital color format
Yea I noticed that as well, it seems like some streams/tourny have some really sharp graphics. Sometimes I'm watching a stream in 1080p and I'm like "wait, this is way better than what I see when I play and I play on ultra 0.o "
If you goto NVIDIA control panel -> display -> adjust desktop color settings -> turn up Digital Vibrance, it makes the colors brighter. Im not sure if this is what they do, but it makes a difference
I dislike the stronger teamcolor mod for viewing, I think it's useful if the players decide to play yellow vs orange, but aside from that i dont have much problem telling units apart. Banelings look a bit excessive with the mod atleast: )
Like Economist write , its all at Nvidia control panel ( if you have nvida card) , you can mix thing up really nice , just to adjust colours to your SC 2 , you can even make your SC 2 pink.. minerals green etc , health bars red , blue even black , you just need to spend some time in control panel
Other thing is true also , amny streams are using Stronger teamcolor ( I like it also and usuing it , imo for zerg player its perfect )
Have been playing with the nvidia panel and got some of it.
Will check out team color ... but the gomtv stream has something different again!
I also disocvered i like the effect of hdr=0 in variables - but that is ultimate cleanup. The problem is that i like both extremes ... ultra clean and ultra effecty *as long as its vibrant*. Like with anything if you start processing it you just lose fidelity. It feels like hdr and just post processing in general can just make everything tend towards grey (am really thinking about fps games there)
Will play with vibrance also .. i thought that was for video though when i read it. Edit: Yeah vibrance isnt in an app specific area ... anyway i think the color thing is that mod ... am about to try it.
Have also turned all the nvidia stuff up to max ... still doesnt look the same ... hopefully mod will do the rest the n...
Edit2: changed my gfx card from rgb -> CCbCr-444 and noticed an immediate difference all around tbh
Edit3: that mod is cool and may use :D, but not what im looking for here.
Seriously though it would be great to know what these settings are ... i spent about 2 hours goign through every permutation of graphics settings last night.
I am now 100% that it is not something in the graphics card drivers that can be turned on. It is not digital vibrance. It is not team colors It cannot be obtained through sc2 UI It is clearly something that some people know about as there are several tournaments out there that are tweaking this stuff Perhaps as someone suggested its a post processing effect BUT the effect is only in game - it does not effect the UI surrounding the game so I don't think its done after the game. Sounds like a lot of work to mask around things like the player name and resource meter given that they change size over time as they are opened and closed.
The effect does look to be post processing related but its at the game level.
Someone must know lol. I suspect that it is some tweaks in variables.txt but havent found them

I'm fairly certain that Alt + F will make both players red and blue when observing. Not sure though
Stronger Team color mod have one bad thing, or if say more correct, it has no one fix.
On the minimap half of colors, like blue/green/red/purple - they always hard to see. Also light blue color is hard to see, because minerals and vespene geysers are white. White and light blue are similar in brightness.
Green-red scheme is the best in terms to readable minimap.
And STC mod makes game very toy'ish and like Red Alert 3 sometimes. Maybe it will be good with that desaturation diablo3 mod
Hah! The opposite of on topic!
Oh well. If this thread is still up and unanswered at the end of the day ill fooly around with my gtx-560ti
That Diablo3 darker mod makes game more contrast too. You can try Stronger level of that mod and you will see, that white and light colors becomes more brightness and desaturated, when darker color becomes a bit darker too.
Also if you dont want darker game, but only desaturated, so increase then ingame brightness, and it will looks same, as it was without that mod, only with desaturator.
