Want to make sure your IPS are whitelisted for the event Which clearly shows the need to get added to some sort of whitelist.

Still, I think we should require more proof that someone posting a claim that the event was ruined.

Like the blizzard stance on no LAN (i.e. completely local, no internet connection at all) I can kinda understand that the marketing guys probably misunderstood an article they read once on piracy - but just banning people for connecting through the same IP.... What the hell is that about? At first glance it just seems like Blizzard wants to ban fun.

Quite pathetic for Blizzard to descend to this level of control and ineptitude.

I can demonstrate 60-100 people on the same IP without any problem, so if they or you did get blacklisted the cause is probably something else unrelated to the number of connections. EDIT: For example if it's a BYOC, it's entirely possible bnet has detected something unsavory with one of the clients game files and maybe that triggers a blacklist, For example the dc/tie hack that was going around for a long time, old versions of that some time get the source IP blacklisted. EDIT EDIT: Or as people in the reddit thread are pointing out, there is a myriad of other offenses for other titles that share the bnet log in that can trigger the black list, WoW bots seem to be a common cause. No. There's a limit of 10 accounts that can log on with 1 IP, that's why they got banned. I know this because if you pay attention to tournament news, Blizzard failing to whitelist the event while given ample prior warning is a frequent occurrence.

Blizzard has done this on all their recent games. Specifically D2 I remember renting a VPS so I could get proxies to go around this issue. I'm assuming this is done on SC2 to prevent LANs from forming without their permission.

I mean battle.net sucks, its a regress from the old 1998 battle.net, the gameplay is worse than Brood War, the campaign was worse compared to Brood War and the support hasn't been there at all. Blizzard should put in LAN else people shouldn't buy their games anymore and that's the story. They've used and abused the fan base enough already and have become from one of the best and friendlier companies around to one of the worst and evil companies out there. Blizzard right now are the EA of 10 years ago.

It shocks me why people would buy HOTS with so many issues revolving around WOL, including their shitty chat system, interface, etc. I for sure will not be buying it until they fix these problems.

I'm not buying it either and not buying D3 either. In fact I may even download it from the internet just because they've been so arrogant and so corrupt.

From doing development work myself, I wouldn't ever pirate a game, nor music anymore. Really, it's a kick in the nuts to anyone who spent their time and money developing it. I feel the best way to protest is simply not buy their game. They are obviously neglecting customer feedback, so no reason to continue supporting them.

As some one who has organzied LAN events with much more than 10 people, I've never had to contact blizzard to warn them about multiple logins from a single IP, and neither have the LAN centers that we've been to. You have no idea what you are talking about, and you haven't hosted 100 person tournaments if you actually believe that. It's been a problem in several major tournaments already.
