As some one who has organzied LAN events with much more than 10 people, I've never had to contact blizzard to warn them about multiple logins from a single IP, and neither have the LAN centers that we've been to. Pretty sure you are wrong. I been to LANs where our IP was blacklisted.

I can demonstrate 60-100 people on the same IP without any problem, so if they or you did get blacklisted the cause is probably something else unrelated to the number of connections. EDIT: For example if it's a BYOC, it's entirely possible bnet has detected something unsavory with one of the clients game files and maybe that triggers a blacklist, For example the dc/tie hack that was going around for a long time, old versions of that some time get the source IP blacklisted. EDIT EDIT: Or as people in the reddit thread are pointing out, there is a myriad of other offenses for other titles that share the bnet log in that can trigger the black list, WoW bots seem to be a common cause.

This problem has occured in official tournaments, it isn't fake at all.

Tournament organizers have to purchase a license in the first place which makes this whole problem even more absurd. Given its track record so far with blacklisting lans for over a year now, it seems unless Blizzard gets a ton of negative PR for it they aren't going to care enough to actually make steps to fix this. It doesn't seem malicious, simply incompetence. I'm pretty sure the "paying for tournament license" bit isn't true, I saw something about it a while back. The IP Blacklist however, is true. It happened at IPL 3. I was there.

Some people have noticed a correlation and automatically assumed the relationship is causal. The black listing almost certainly has another cause.

(It's still up to them though if/how much they want to charge.) But small tournaments that run just of sponsors doesn't have to pay, they just need permission.

Haha, what technology "isn't there?" yet? Be as specific as possible about what part of the network is incapable of handling this sort of traffic.
