I also find it worrying that it seems increasingly common that people take even the mildest, most constructive criticism about a product/company as some kind of personal slight, and that accusations of consumer entitlement and suggestions that 'if you don't like it, just go away' like all the problems are just going to disappear if we pretend they aren't there.

Think about it. If the pro scene boycotts HotS, and just sticks with WoL, don't you think that would invoke a reaction from Blizzard?

Yes, because telling Blizzard the only way we can -- with our wallets -- that they are fucking everything up is definitely the wrong thing to do, and mindlessly buying their product and thereby affirming their choices is the correct thing to do. :| But you're right. I'm sure the scene will get fixed by just feeding more money to Blizzard (exactly what they want) as they continue to take that as cue to continue fucking everything up. Instead of standing up and telling them "We won't buy your product if you can't deliver basic service", we should just let them continue to fuck over the scene -- to help the scene.

It honestly feels like games these days are progressing backwards with less and less functions included in each new big release. Maybe it's the technological platforms that are to blame for becoming too complex and clunky for the developers to handle effectively, or maybe it's a corporate culture that has changed from 'provide a good product while also making a good profit' to 'just make a good profit, everything else be damned'. Honestly i would not blame blizzard entirely for this.. i would blame their parent company for forcing them to work on so many games simultaneously at such a pace. Get mad at activision who makes shitty games all day anyways ![]() only games they ever made that i liked was mechwarrior anyways.

OP doesn't even have a link to a battle.net official complaint thread or anything. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/4427666958 bam there you go

Even if enough people were in on this plan the pro scene won't, because GOMTV/OGN won't. Then the rest of the world won't, because Korea plays HotS. A "BNET BLACKOUT" day or something would be more realistic, a day where people stay away from battle.net, even if noone actually bothered to not log on it would create a lot of bad press and might get someone at Blizzard tp wake up. At least a bigger chance than any TL/reddit/B.NET threads has.

I know a lot of people really like to paint Activision as the devil and Blizzard as the angel, but people(and myself included) really need to stop thinking they can speak of one without including the other. If Blizzard/Activision wants to pump out a lot of games, it is ofcourse expected by the customers that they can follow through with those games. While I don't really want to get my pitchfork, I'm really starting to question if I will buy HotS(which is a shame, since I own all their big titles and some of their smaller). Blizzard games just aren't the same anymore and every year that passes seems to be making that clearer(Vanilla >= TBC > WotLK >>>>>> Cata into what seems like >>>>>>>>>> Panda is probably the best way to view the devolution of Blizzard)

Which is what WoW has become essentially is scrub friendly. Honestly i don't think this is blizzard's doing so much as activision.. i mean check when WoW started deteriorating and when they were aquired by activision.. yeah im gonna still lay the blame on activision (2008 btw) i would also like to point out that blizzard is still blizzard. When they were aquired they kept all the same people and same projects. What they gained was a much more overbearing overlord in the form of activision as opposed to vivendi.

Financially no, but it is a shadow of it's former self. Because of EA, and Activision, companies that have pioneered these types of "cheap, quick, 1 day sale" business models (most notably games like CoD), publishers and developers have come to accept the fact that they can charge more and more for less and less. Games have been getting insanely short for years now. Single-Players and Multi-Players tacked on. Loss of Content and replaced in either DLC (including the dreadful Day-One DLC, which is basically just charging 75+ dollars for a game) or not replacing the lost content what so ever. Developers going as far as thinking the ending of games can be left out, or that bug fixes and patching is now a post-release process. The complete and utter deconstruction of all complex or even thought provoking game-play. This one has also been going on for awhile. Loss of features, the only company I'll exclude is Bungie. I think it is obvious why. Horrid customer support (if it even exists), or very limited continuation of support for customers, servers, the game itself (patching), and content flow. Last but not least, the most upsetting one of them all. Publishers buying up developers and mutilating them. And the prime suspects....Activision and EA. Seems like almost everyday I hear a new horror story of ex-support or ex-developer of a studio currently/once owned by either of these companies. As far as employees being publicly humiliated and demeaned, absolute theft in terms of salaries, wages, and benefits, total lack of job security, and down right unpleasant OR EVEN ILLEGAL conditions for these people. I know gaming hasn't always been the big giant super sweet office studio where it is all peaches and sunflowers, but this is pure regression. Gaming is dead. But Gaming is so very alive.
