Yeah...I don't get this, BW was massively successful and included LAN. Does Blizzard just think that in the high speed internet era any game that includes LAN will be massively pirated?

Blizzard has been saying they have eSports in mind with SC2 since like beta... wtf are you talking about ...This sucks that they aren't following through with it though T_T As ive always said actions speak louder then words. Blizzard has never said it point blank they always beat around the bush with it. Of course they won't come out and say " not a chance we won't support esports ". They make their appearances here and there. Throw a bone here and there have a few tournaments. But haven't done anything to the UI of Sc2 to solve a large portion of the problems. If they really were going to support ESports the easiest thing they could've done from the launch is release oh shit no more lan then if we support ESports then there will be a large area (lan) for Sc2 to play online, we probably should implement something simple so we don't blacklist events. If they support ESports where is the official apology from Blizzard regarding this event? lol

Blizzard already has said time and time again no offline play. Aka what we know as Lan. They also have set up conditions in their TOA to prevent anyone from finding a way to make a separate server to play offline from. Meaning if something like an ICCUP was made from a community member and tournaments were using it and breaking the terms of agreement with Blizzard's game Sc2 then someone will get sued hard.

The thing to do here, at least for me: I'm delaying HotS purchase to at least LotV premiere, since not only the game - and most importantly - services associated with it are not what I had in mind when I bought it, it seems that with expansions (that people will have to pay for) still ahead no big issues with the game are being solved, to possibly hype up future releases. I won't be surprised when HotS comes out packed with tons of both gameplay enhancements AND interface/service revamps, but I'd rather wait than have another critical issue pop up after HotS release with solution coming up with LotV and another hefty payment.

Lower your expectations of blizzard, they aren't as good a company as their games make them out to be. Big ones get kind of support from blizzard. Private small ones can just install the Lan-Server. But middle sponsored ones have a problem... On April 15 2012 16:43 ptrpb wrote: I like how 90% of the replies outright blame Blizzard straigh up without taking into consideration all the factors of the story. I mean for all we know one of the organizors could've fucked up with the whitelisting IP and suddenly the IP is blacklisted. I just wish this community didn't jump to a fucking condeming conclusion everytime we got half or less of the full story. Generell you are right. But it is different to judge on a random story than on something that happen all the time. We know Blizzard blacklist tournaments all the time. So the chances that they did the same mistake here is pretty high. BTW: is it even possible to play SC2 at university or in other big lan networks? At my university there are big subnets with the same ip.

Every week Blizzard facks something up and they are too lazy/just don't care too fix it. How can people still wonder why other games got bigger so insanely fast. RIOT. Valve and so on all care a lot about their playerbase and competitive scene and they actually fix stuff if the community asks for it. GG no re blizzard.

Also, The fact that everyone needs to be online forces all data to go through Blizzard servers, which helps them develop a clearer understanding of the balance of the game. Instead of relying solely on play opinion or a sample of games played. I suspect LAN would be installed after Legacy of the Void is released and the balancing for that has reached general acceptance. Also, Blizzard would probably wait until it has developed strong legal standing with relation to the organizations surrounding the eSport, such that it ensures no entity can remain totally seperate from them and yet make money off their game by proxy. We all know Blizzard can do it, but they won't because they do not want to deal with another legal KeSPA incident. LAN mode invites independent entities to form, with the most headstrong ones willing to try to take Blizzard to court in order to turn SC2 into a Soccer ball. Blizzard does not want that to happen. I suspect as they see it, they made the game, they ought to have some kind of influence or presence in the scene. I really do think if the whole KeSPA thing didn't happen on the scale it did, and they could of reached an amicable solution what with Blizzard reaping a percentage of income, LAN would probably be in this. In fact, if you think about it, Blizzard probably wanted to force and SC2 shift in their legal arguments not to attack KeSPA's BW business, but increase their SC influence overall since I am sure by that stage in the legal proceedings Blizzard decided to drop LAN support. Forcing KeSPA to work with them in SC2 whether they liked it or not.

Its easy to call Blizzard stupid, but I think you need to observe the circumstances around each of those companies before making any real conclusion for their motivation.

What did you do to resolve the issue and how long did it take to get a solution? Are you 100% sure that the IP you provided Blizzard matches the one you actually used? Not saying this is your fault or anything, just saying you should include more information.

I know, but that's what I would say 6 months after the game was released. It's been 2 YEARS and they still keep fkin shit up weekly. I really think they just don't care about fixing it anymore. There's only minor problems, but there's a lot of them and they aren't hard to fix. Yet in 2 years time nothing has been done, there is no logical reason for that other then that they aren't even working on it.
