He was referring to it as the word and not calling someone that specific word, but he literally said "the word 'nigger'" and nobody seemed to care. Is this a double standard, or does the context of the word ACTUALLY have an impact on the offensiveness? I believe it was even on state of the game with destiny, day9, jp, and nony if anyone wants to dig that up in the vods Context absolutely makes a difference. I find the word quite offensive, but I've definitely said it a handful of times. Each one of those times was in direct reference to the word itself or the quote of a song lyric (of course then there's the "nigger" vs. "nigga" argument, but no need to get into that). That's very different from using the word in a derogatory manner toward another person.

This analogy has nothing to do with what has transpired here, (orb) would have been dealing with the public on mass. When you have personally conducted yourself on a public stream ( like a moron and a neanderthal ) these character traits, unstable"ness" and general lack of vocabulary lead to his demise as a public figure in the public.

However, the fact that you thought the word "nigger" could be used for comedic relief seems very misguided. Though I'm sure plenty of whites were laughing when they called blacks "niggers" during hangings and lynchings. Funny thing is if you had used "nigga" I doubt people would have been as angry.

Do you really think filtering out people like orb and censoring everything about them is going to draw in more viewers and make esports bigger? Have you ever considered that maybe not everyone is interested in starcraft and enjoys watching it? Do you enjoy watching LoL? Probably not. If their community censored out bad casters, would that make you want to watch it more? NO. Stop trying to make esports grow by censoring everything and trying to make your community more respected... it isn't going to work. You're just making people angry because you are making everyone feel bad about every little tiny thing that they do on ladder or elsewhere. I bet you are the same people who try to control everybody else in life and have everything your way. The only thing that tells me about you is that you are too dumb to understand why the words are offensive. It's because you keep talking about it. Stop talking about it and it is no longer a problem. Stop talking about it. Just stop. The thing you don't realize is that racism is an institution, not some attribute you can apply to a person, or a set of words. Let me give you an example, if someone calls me a nigger, it does not affect me at all, nor does it mean they are a racist. Now, if I go to a job interview, and someone doesn't hire me just because I'm black, THAT'S RACISM. If I'm not allowed in a certain establishment or neighbourhood because I'm black, THAT'S RACISM. You need to have some type of power in order to be racist, and the majority of people on the internet & in gaming communities using "nigger" really have very little, if any, power. I think what Morgan said actually went way over your head. "I'm going to stop calling you a white man, and you stop calling me a black man"

first off I've got to say, that I only know you as a caster (expecially for the Korean Weekly). I think most of us agree, that you are not to be seen as a racist. EG though cannot afford to be known for hiring, hiding or tolerating questionable sentiments. They have to get rid of everything, that legitimizes suspicion. I know, that it's probably not going to help you, but you can be seen as something like a precedence. I don't want to talk about the n-word here, because many people already have, but I'd like to write something on a personal note; If there is anything for you to learn from this in my opinion, then it is to see all of this in context. Some poeple here wrote, that you should start to respect others a bit more. I noticed something in your casts. You seem to be what I like to call "overconfident". You judge really harshly on minor mistakes. I see a bit of that "I don't give a shit, whether my words insult another being"-attitude in that, which showcases a sort of arrogance, that implies a certain lack of compassion. You might want to work on that. Note: Im not writing this to insult you. I'm working on it myself. No matter what you do, keep your head up. You are a good caster in terms of gameknowledge and comment"flow" and your apology is really impressive. You neither defended yourself too much, nor did you search for excuses. You even thanked EG for the opportunity. It takes a lot to do that. It's that kind of personality we'd like to see. The one, that can step back, that accepts other peoples wills and feelings, that asks for apology and doesn't add insult per insult to those, who felt offended in the first place. The humble one. You have proven, that you possess it. Expand its influence. For a peaceful sc2 environment. We all seek acceptance. So why be offensive, if we don't mean it and if its easily evitable? This community has had that conversation over and over again, but I'm kind of glad, that EG took that step, although I feel sorry for you Orb, who obviously did not intentionally mean any harm, who unfortunately became a precedence here and who clearly deserves a second chance. Hope to soon hear your voice cast some awesome sc2 again!
