I put the most pressure on this point, on the nub, while resting the rest of the bottom of my hand on my desk. I'm not sure if this is what people consider the "wrist" that gives carpal tunnel, but I never have any problems or soreness.

I rest my hand alot but I am 99% sure that hovering it is far better for your wrists.

I hover my wrists out of habit from years of piano experience. Resting your wrists decreases piano APM, so I imagine it would affect Starcraft APM as well.

I keep my elbow resting on the army of my chair so my hand pretty much hovers over the keyboard. I play with my keyboard in my lap.

Both. Ideally, hover it, but people may get tired. You can rest your elbow on the rest on your chair to help.

Just make sure the ball of your hand is resting, and your wrist/bottom-arm is not resting on the edge of the table or else you'll get CTS

I have my entire forearms wresting on the arm rests of my chair so my palms are hovering, but there is literally 0 pressure on my wrists. My fingertips rest on the keys and I can fall asleep in this position. : )

cmon dude this is common sense.
try an experiment, play with you palms resting for 10 games
then try with your hand hovering for 10 games.

what did you notice?
even your body knows which one is more natural.
your brain should know this too.

Hovering is definitely the best in terms of speed in reaching keys but you may get tired quicker.

I rest my arm by the elbow at the edge of the desk, but my wrist is well above the desk. Also helps i have huge hands

I've seen MKP hover his left hand (at least at the start of the game) and he's a good example of someone able to put hours and hours into his ladder sessions without it seeming to hurt too much. But most of the Koreans let it rest on the table I think. I'm gonna try to Hoover my hand to see how it feels

Years of counterstrike have me resting my hand on my desk, if youre playing starcraft at a high level theres no doubt in my mind that hovering is best for mobility. With CS everything is around WASD so no need for mobility. Pivot also allows for better reaction time around WASD i believe, more important for FPS's.

I notice I hover in crazy APM situations but for the first 8-12 mins of the game I have it on the table. I let my arm and hand do what they want, as long as the button is pressed

what is the best way to position your hands when it comes to the keyboard and mouse? is it good to push your keyboard and mouse a few inches nearer the table or to have it on the edge? and how to align it - should be centered (keyboard) and the mouse very close to the keyboard?
