On a side note, don't your arms get tired after hovering them for a game or two?

2nd - it's easier to take your wrists off the keyboard because you type faster and can move your hands faster around the keyboard

If you're used to keeping your wrist in the air when using your keyboard you don't really consciously think about it so, it doesn't get tired. I don't really know how to explain it.

You would think with spellcheck built into the forums, that people would actually use it. OP just as a heads up, Hoover is a vacuum cleaner....hover is the word you are looking for.

I used to rest my hand on the desk but when I learned of Carpal Tunnel, I changed my habit. Took awhile, but I'm sure it'll be so much better for me.

Just learn the most ergonomic posture and you'll have a much better life in the long run. Becoming a pro-player is a non-issue imho.

Pro players are good at the game for sure, but they are actually terrible role-model when it comes to ergonomic posture (and I'm sure they'd be the first to admit this). Watching them in their booths makes me cringe at time... Just learn the most ergonomic posture and you'll have a much better life in the long run. Becoming a pro-player is a non-issue imho. I know that huk hovers his hand over the keyboard. Most people in BW did because it is significantly easier to reach all the crazy hotkeys, but in SC2 since they are all so clumped it has become easier to just leave your hand on the table. This results in a lot of people complaining that they can't reach all the control groups and such.

No kidding, they rest their wrists on the table and practice 8+ hours without taking breaks. No wonder they all have carpal tunnel. Edit: Hover is better for your wrists. The only reason I didn't like hover at first is that my wrists gots tired (my endurance grew though) but that's a sign that I should take a break anyway.
