So I've always played with my keyboard hand ( left hand) resting on my desk. However I have troubble reaching 6 and 7 this way, so lately I've tried to have my hand hoover over the keyboard instead, not touching the desk at all and I dunno what I like better :x..

Is one way generally accepted as better then the other, aka does pro player hoover or rest their hands? How do you play?

Most people keep their wrist on the table. I use the keyboard with my wrist in the air though. There was some thread about how keeping your wrist in the air was the proper way to use a keyboard or more ergonomic or something.

putting pressure on your wrist is asking for carpal tunnel syndrome.

I think a good majority rest their hands..
On a side note, don't your arms get tired after hovering them for a game or two?

1st - Hover
2nd - it's easier to take your wrists off the keyboard because you type faster and can move your hands faster around the keyboard

My Hoover hand sucks up twice as much APM as the next leading brand.

If you're used to keeping your wrist in the air when using your keyboard you don't really consciously think about it so, it doesn't get tired. I don't really know how to explain it.

Post of the week hahaha. Keeping your hand rested limits your mobility.

I always rest my lower palm at the bottom of my desk.

LOL! You would think with spellcheck built into the forums, that people would actually use it. OP just as a heads up, Hoover is a vacuum cleaner....hover is the word you are looking for.

Hoover was also an American president.

I usually keep my wrist in the air. I used to rest my hand on the desk but when I learned of Carpal Tunnel, I changed my habit. Took awhile, but I'm sure it'll be so much better for me.

It seems obvious that the "proper" way to do is to hoover your hand over the keyboard to avoid wrist injuries. Pro players are good at the game for sure, but they are actually terrible role-model when it comes to ergonomic posture (and I'm sure they'd be the first to admit this). Watching them in their booths makes me cringe at time...

Just learn the most ergonomic posture and you'll have a much better life in the long run. Becoming a pro-player is a non-issue imho.

I know that huk hovers his hand over the keyboard. Most people in BW did because it is significantly easier to reach all the crazy hotkeys, but in SC2 since they are all so clumped it has become easier to just leave your hand on the table. This results in a lot of people complaining that they can't reach all the control groups and such.

No kidding, they rest their wrists on the table and practice 8+ hours without taking breaks. No wonder they all have carpal tunnel.

Edit: Hover is better for your wrists. The only reason I didn't like hover at first is that my wrists gots tired (my endurance grew though) but that's a sign that I should take a break anyway.

I have a laptop so the base of my forearm rests on the table while my wrist hovers over the keyboard. Never had wrist pain from using the computer

If you Hoover your hand over the keyboard it has the advantage of keeping it dirt and dust free AND removes 99.9% of allergens in the air.

Hmm, never thought about it, but thanks to you I realised that I 'hover' my wrist without getting tired like some other people mention, as my proximal forearm (side near my elbow) rests on the edge of my table creating a see-saw (my keyboard is about 30 cm in from the edge of the table). I use 6 and 7 regularly for factories and starports and have no problems reaching them.
