Hrmpf. Looking at my own matchup problems I'd hoped for a little more perhaps, but can't complain about any of these really, they actually make pretty good sense. Still not final until the bunker time is adjusted of course but..

Like someone else said though, this is pretty much HotS not releasing this year, I highly doubt they've actually decided the final direction for the races, wouldn't be surprised to see something completely different next demo. Still, props to Blizz, their changes for this season are all pretty good so far, I'm impressed.

With snipe nerfed, late game infestor, broodlord and corruptor is now 100% unstoppable.

IMMVP v FXO_Lucky back in January for the perfect example of how ridiculously strong that zerg unit composition is vs Terran. I am not saying that because Lucky beat MVP in one of those games is why it is OP, I am just saying that it is just OP in theory and in practice. Snipe is what was NEEDED to beat it, mass vikings aren't feasible vs corruptors and infestors as shown in those games.

exactly what i thought. Take 5 zerg vs 2 base terran as an example, and zerg still cannot win until they get a ton of brood lords. Imagine terran could only kill zerg when they get 4-6 bases and mass battlecruiser. That's the usual scenario for zergs to win vs turtling terran.

You know what is happening;
Blizzard has been nerfing Terrans rushes for about one and half a year now. Terran is the strongest race in early to mid- game, but because of strategie, build order and a lot of nerfs, Protoss and Zerg can hold most of those attacks off. Now comes the fun part. You know what happens after early to mid game?
lategame. LOL. Terran has no lategame, just an extended midgame army because both BC and Thor get RAPED by things of lower supply, build time, cost, tech and production facilities. TERRAN T3 IS OUTCLASSED IN EVERY SINGLE WAY. That's why Terran doesn't like late game.
So, early game was OP for Terran. got nerfed, now Terran early- game is about equal with the other races.
However; lategame is SHIT. And now it is even more SHIT! Terran lategame revolves around scouting tech switches from the opponent and adapting.

That is why Terran is terrible against Toss and Zerg late-game, the tech switches are to slow and too small. Now, the situation vs Zerg was reasonable by using Ghost as a buffer, they weren't the be all, end all of all Zerg T3, at least, with proper overseer/spore usage, but allowed for Terran to buy time to switch tech around.

That just got killed, so like in TvP, Terran is doomed too:

Lingfestor into broodlords, you'll have plenty of banes/lings to deal with drops.

The great thing about BL/infestor is that you dont need 140 supply of it to be effective, with proper control much smaller numbers can break a terrans defense.

The mule change is great although you could just remove gold bases in general, but guess its not that big of a deal

The phoenix change is OK... stops zerg from going mass mass mass muta... like 30+ which can be hard to deal with in alot of maps

The snipe change... is pretty bad now terran will just kind of have to outmicro the bl/corrupter/infestor army with ghost/thor/viking/marine since ghost isnt that viable of a counter against broodlords anymore but you still need to deal with the infestors, which on the plus side you can now 2 shot with snipes .

It takes 5 snipes now to kill a broodlord... with the change it will take 9 snipes to kill a broodlord so you would need 225 energy to kill one broodlord... which is alot and also the scroll sniping trick is cheating because you need a 3rd party program to use it.

The change might be good, but it will make tvz late game much harder and you would need to use raven/viking/thor and some ground army and ghosts against a broodlord/corrupter infestor composition. and try to pdd/hunterseeker missile and do splash damage with thors while kiting the corrupters and eventually killing off the corrupters so you have your vikings to left to deal with the broodlords while you try to cleanup the infestors and the rest of the ground army then again your going to have a weaker ground army because of the vikings and ravens but guess you can just add a few banshees to sort out that problem

can you try to guess what it is?

sidenote: protoss change is stupid. im thinking about going 5 mutalisk and then stopping make muta and deny scout for 5 minute and hope they get a big boner in excitement for massing up 20 phoenixes with range upgrade, little do they know i stopped making mutas :D i like the apm change

Every single patch something big is nerfed we here about how it's the end of days for SC2, and inevitably balance works out closer in the end so far. I am one of those who believe Snipe is too strong it's current form (though I play with the mindset it's not) and was perhaps the last thing about Terran I thought was too good (that and Gold MULEs but that's be sorted too). I maybe would have went with a cooldown instead of the damage nerf but I imagine Blizzard's team of people are better balance designers than I so I'm still confident it'll work out.

It is true that Terran has been nerfed loads in the games history, but since we're still at a point where the game is more or less balanced in terms of both tournament results and ladder results (when we have the numbers, but since they claim to monitor them it'd be wrong to just assume the game is beyond the numbers they deem acceptable) it'd be impossible to say that there wasn't at least some point of truth in nerfing the things they did and I think after a month or so the game will likely find another solution late game TvZ. That said I think after that Blizzard should be extremely careful about future nerfs and maybe look at the HOTS redesign chance to make lategame more fun for Terran players, or give a buff somewhere else if it's needed, but again I imagine Blizzards people already know that so I'm sure the game will end up balanced.

Also, since it seems to matter to people in this thread, yes I main Zerg. I also have a random account.
