I liked the way midgame TvT played out, especially since there is enough open areas, chokes, counter attack/drop paths for both mech and bio but absolutely hated that natural expansion. Which makes me happy about Cloud Kingdom because it's essentially a larger version of XNC (for TvT) with easier expansions and more interesting terrain (especially the high ground and faaaaaaaaaar paths).

tvt on xnc was really like chess. had the most intense and close games on that map.
and even if the map is a bit small (for zerg) the layout was still genius.

We all really like it, don't worry. I've played some games on it with Monitor and it played out really well imo. Of course, I'm a Zerg player too so.....

Here's an image: ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/aFjaP.jpg) There is actually no problem. You just misplaced your gateway in the second picture, since it's different than the one in the first. It's misplaced by 1 hex. The other part too is that the minerals are not properly symmetrical. They are off by 1 hex. I will notify the team about this. Thanks for addressing it!
In my original this issue was nonexistent- Blizzard did it in the LE version. You can check ESV Korhal Compound to see that it was completely symmetrical. Sorry but there isn't much I can do!

cloud kingdom is a veto for pvz as far as im concerned and I'll have to try out korthal but appears to be a veto as well.

I'm loving Korhal right now. I play Toss and I thought the natural and 3rd might be too open but that hasn't been the case in the 2 games I've played on it. The map has a contradictory feel: it feels both small and big at the same time. I like that. The rush distance is longer than I anticipated, but your first three bases are close enough that they are all defendable and the positioning of the Xel Naga is really unique in that its high ground location provides you with a defenders' advantage: I can hold it against Zerg and have an edge in seeing them coming without the normal worries I have when trying to do so vs Z.

Really? The third is relatively easy to take on that map. I am loving maps that allows me to take a 10 minute 3rd.

I think Blizzard fixed the Korhal Compound wall off issues. I went into the editor to investigate how I would wall off the bottom position when I FFE, turns out it was no different than the top. + Show Spoiler +
As you can clearly see, they're identical. So fellow toss players, there's no reason to panic if you spawn bottom.

ESV map making team is becoming legendary, just curious but does anyone know if they are getting compensated or not? I think it would be a wise decision if blizzard brought them on as employees, or as contract workers, they have obviously proven they know their shit, and this could allow for more community map tournaments, run by the, (blizzard) and that way we always have good maps in the pool. I would rather play on the maps pro's play on, than shitty maps, and I'm sure everyone agrees with me.

I wish :p As of right now, no money is involved. Just super awesome popularity. Superouman got an interview for creating Cloud Kingdom, and Monitor is bound to get one for making Korhal Compound. Though, I guess popularity could be considered compensation to an extent...
Give the mapping community a year or two and soon enough you'll start seeing prize money for map contests instead of free stuff like headsets or SSD's. Before you know it, teams might even be hired and paid to make a map pool for a tournament such as MLG, though that may be a bit over my head as of now...
EDIT: If you want to see more of our legendary maps in action, check out the ESV Korean Weekly. We tend to use ESV maps there as you could imagine. To see all of our current maps and map makers, check out our thread + Show Spoiler +http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=303252
Thanks for the compliments, and hope you enjoy Cloud Kingdom and Korhal Compound

Time to finally grind ladder again <333

Glad to know it's cleared up. Looks like there isn't any positional discrepancies and it can be walled with a forge + gateway.

I played a ZvP on Korhal Compound earlier today and, although I lost, it was one of the most fun games I've had in a while. I play mostly ladder, so I don't get a lot of map variety and as a result, the map flow of Korhal was a beautiful breath of fresh air. Flanking, multipronged attacks, army positioning... all feel like they really mean something more significantly than on most of the ladder maps.

although i am going to miss XC, i love the idea of adding community maps. Adding the new maps in the ladder map pool will allow people to practice for tournaments easier

Korhal Compound actually looks pretty zerg favored vs toss. That low ground third reminds me of XNC's, but it looks further away.

which one korthal or cloud kingdom? I think its generally accepted that pvz cloud kingdom is zerg favoured because of hard to defend third and multiple attack routes, as well as long distance for 2 base all in.

Yeah man, I know how you feel. I veto'd Tal'Darim Altar LE too since it's too big for 6 pool rushes...
