Well, I don't exactly hate the new bnet, but I liked the bnet 1.0 better...

I'd be careful there. You're right when you saying that financial impact due to missed sales would cause the greatest amount of attention, but we all know that's not going to happen. But not because anyone who doesn't agree with our cause is a "self-centered kid without a spine", but simply customers who are happy with less, who lack the comparison, or for whom it's simply a game and less of a passion.
We'll never reach our goal by badmouthing those who don't agree with us, because there's little "real" pressure we can apply - we can't influence sales, and as amazing as our spread forum activity is, it's but a little drop in the ocean of feedback and PR that's constanly sorrounding Blizzard Entertainment.
What we can do, however, is to stay polite, stay patient, and to convince those who don't yet know what they're missing of our arguments. By giving them a comparison they may have been lacking, or by sharing our passion in a convincing way with anecdotes, valuable input and sheer numbers of contributors.
We're doing a good job so far. Don't fret.

Yeah this is about some of us who have passion and pride about our game. Its okay for those who don't share our view, no need for bashing them. In fact I would encourage people who disagree because I want to hear from those who has a reason for why any and all of these suggestions would be bad additions to the game.

Yes. Blizzard does not need to be too worried about losing sales from so called enthusiasts / active community. Large portion of this group will still be buying their games even if they are unsatisfied about the Battle.net service. For example I will buy HotS & D3 even if since SC2 beta have been disappointed with Battle.net. Also even if some sales are lost from the 'enthusiasts / active community' group it is not so big deal to Blizzard. This user group is still a minority of their customer base.
The point where Blizzard becomes worried about losing sales is when the public outcry grows so strong that there is a risk it affects the 'casual' customer base. This happens when for example gaming media or other notable sites start publishing negative news items about Blizzard's products / services. Many of the previous & successful community pressures have included this dimension. For example the protest against the forum real-id:s & 'do you really want chat channels' incident were noticed by the gaming media / other influential sites. Blizzard had to react and somehow turn it to positive PR for them.
If the community is able to keep pressure on in civilized manner for a longer time frame it may also be noticed by the gaming media & other influential sites.
(edit: small spelling fixes)

Anyone who thinks we should post this to a more mainstream gaming reddit/other site? We need a way to reach the casuals who quit because of the UI.

This thread has already been posted on Reddit and four major offical forums. Please check the OP. If you'd like to create yet another iteration on a community site of your choice, go ahead! The more people we reach, the better.

I know, but these are all Starcraft-focused sites, all with the same audience, mostly active players.
For example r/Gaming (I don't like this reddit), contains a whole other audience, and possibly a lot of ex-players.

Sure, it's worth a try. But the thread would have to be modified extensively; right now, it's a very long read about a highly specific SC2 problem that's tailored to an audience of passionate, active players. In order to reach inactive players or even non-SC2 gamers, scope and content of the thread would have to be adjusted.
Reaching "general" gaming media is the next step (or rather the next goal), should Blizzard not respond in a timely manner to the various threads currently circulating. But it'd have to be phrased accordingly, to not only convey our passion and concerns, but also to arouse interest amongst those not or no longer interested in SC2's problems.
I might eventually do this should we not see any Blizzards responses any time soon, but if anyone else feels up to the challenge, give it a try .

+1! I can never host a fun micro tournament game without spamming others in custom games chat, or any other game mode for that matter that isn't on the first two pages.
I think keeping in the popularity system as maybe optional might work, but either way I want the old custom games & chat system back!
|
I miss joining random "1v1+obs" custom games to watch when I'm bored... You can't do that on BNet2, I feel alone when my friends aren't online, wish it was better designed to have a sense of community (besides chat channels ofc)
Still expecting a decent Blizzard response on the matter.

the current state of battle net ruins the user experience. such a dick move by Blizz to hold back features
|
|
How many people do you think you can possibly gather for that?
Also, I am in wholehearted agreement with this thread. I hadn't realized it, but I seriously miss the Frozen Throne BNet. Looking through my friends stats with each race, hosting custom games intentionally and getting players, etc. Good times...
|
Is that even necessary? I mean, I think we have some kind of conformation that Blizzard listens to the community, with the map pool and the new changes coming in the next patch. I don't even think the news will bother reporting this. I think it's enough to have a huge thread on both TL and BNet about the issue, that it's hard to ignore.

I know you're frustrated, but I feel like this is unnecessary. We need to keep the discussion civil, they technically don't owe us anything and we're trying to show them how important these features are to maintain a strong playerbase. If we act like arse-faces to them, do you think they'll want to help us?

Yes. It's not about demanding things from Blizzard. It's about getting Blizzard to understand the mistakes they make when they over streamline, and that fixing these things will be better for the Starcraft community AND their bottom line in the long run.
