For all of the ways that the Tempest is supposed to "fix" Protoss lategame, the Carrier should be allowed fill the role with a few tweaks. Phoenixes can already shoot and move at the same time? Why can't Carriers? Extend their range to be the siege units we need. This makes me so angry that they might axe it. There are a lot of people complaining about the Carrier from an iconic standpoint, and that's pretty much just opinion. But it would be shame to lose such an innovative game mechanic because Blizzard can't figure out how to do it right. Axe the Tempest. Long Live the Carrier! | ||

Without Mech Carriers lost its purpose. Not to mention the huge Micro nerf that Blizzard inflicted. The whole TvP Match-Up is balanced on having Bio be the Bread and Butter Terran composition. That's why in Alpha Carriers were removed. The only reason they came back was because of all the community tears, which I feel is very understandable. | ||

It was nice to watch after seeing other protosses fail lately. He got the upgrades, clearly planned for it in time and also had the supply to make them. It should be noted that moneystorms and Vortexs also helped. | ||

Protoss air will be more viable with more viable Terran mech. However, instead of leaving the carrier in to see how it plays out, they're getting rid of it without giving it a chance. It just seems silly to take a classic unit that was in the first edition of the game (SC2, obviously carriers worked well and were prevalent in SC/BW) out, without trying to fix it once, and once it might well have a role again. | ||

The carrier should have faster build time with chrono boost than the BC which does not have it. Chrono boost is supposed to be an advantage for the protoss. Saying that the carrier should have the same build time with chrono as the BC without is like saying that probes should have longer build time, or protoss upgrades should take longer. | ||

Here's replay. You can see the carrier role in all it's beauty here: dps monster, it just does so much damage it kills everything on it's path, however you need to carefully get to that point with decent early game defense. | ||

Vikings don't have the armor or health to live long against carriers and they are too expensive, if he had simply made a ton of marines and used his starports for medivacs instead you would have gotten shredded to pieces. | ||

If we started removing every unit that gets countered by marine/medivac the only units left in the game would be marine/medivac. | ||

Haha, while I kind of agree with this, particularly carriers. Their dps is good with the intial volley but without splash marine dps is just too overwhelming with stim and medivacs. Marines have kind of always been the anti-carrier, so you have to use HTs or colo unless Terran mechs. | ||
