Wait, was that why swarmling strain zerglings were randomly appearing, and why some but not all hydralisks had missing textures?

To install the update, do I just have to replace the mod file, or redo the setup stuff too?

Just the mod itself, replace the file and you're good to go.

OK, i have looked for HOURS trying to figure this out.

Everything is good until i click on the first campaign (episode 1 terran) and it starts loading and then this box appears:


"The launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available"

I click OK and the whole screen is just black. I've looked everywhere to fix this; on here, on the mass recall site, etc.

Someone PLEASE help!

That... doesn't help us. Okay, more specific question. In your Starcraft 2 game folder, there should be a folder called "Mods".

In that folder, is there a file named "SCMRmod.SC2Mod"?

Aha, there's your problem. You downloaded the Retro mod, didn't you? The download comes with two files - SCMRcore, and SCMRmod.

The one titled "core" is the *actual* mod that does all the Mass Recall things. The one just called "SCMRmod" in that download is the actual retro mod, simply replacing sounds and models. You need both if you want to play with the Retro mod.

If you just want the regular Mass Recall mod, then just rename that file to "SCMRmod", as it IS the primary mod, but it's renamed like that in the retro mod so that the actual retro mod file can be worked in.

EDIT: Incidentally, it looks like Blizzard is indeed fixing a few things with the Editor in a patch out today, so this may be what you guys have been waiting for, Jones!

Okay so hold on. If i want the retro version (original brood war sounds, music, etc), what must I do?

When you downloaded the actual mod itself (not the maps), there should have been two files in the same download:

SCMRmod.SC2Mod
SCMRcore.SC2Mod

BOTH of those files need to be in your mods folder - re-download the mod from the sc2mapster page if necessary.

Ever since Blizzard patched to 3.0.1, it's been broken. First of all, when I launch mass recall it says achievements and online play will be unavailable since it has to disconnect. The menu loads fine, but when I click on any mission to play, it will just reload the main SC2 menu with a mismatched version so you can't log on.

It's almost as if Blizzard is maliciously opposed to anyone producing content to add to the game.

I've made a mineral mine fix for 1-10. Feel free to download and use here.
Just replace the map file and you're good to go.

All I've done is raised the minerals slightly so that they can be mined. Pretty simple work around before a real fix is found.

Meyerm, that just means you need to reinstall - it says you have to play offline because the save was created in a previous patch of Starcraft 2. Saved games outside the campaign frequently are rendered unusable by patches, even small ones like this.

Yeah, it works again, thanks.

I was thinking too, has anyone considered bringing skirmish play to the game? Playing against AI on old multiplayer maps with this mod, recalling past memories.

The 3.0.1 patch seems to have fixed the "Test Document button not working" bug on the Mac.

In SCMR 5.4.2 Retro:
1) The portraits are still not animated.
2) Crystals are showing up as dead black.
3) Are Spider mines supposed to be able to see cloaked Ghosts? Because it seems they can.

Everytime I try to load any map it says can't load dependencies to mod or map files. I'm not for sure what to do, I double checked and everything I have is the 5.4.2 so I would think it should run?

Not sure about the rest, but I know that Spider Mines can indeed detect cloaked ghosts - they could do so in the original Starcraft as well. In fact, getting vultures with spider mines out as fast as possible is an old trick used to make the beginning of the Ground Zero map in the UED campaign that much easier - by getting spider mines out quickly enough in the right spots, you could take out some of the ghosts dropping that huge nuke-wave on your base and reinforcements, and save a lot of them.

I remember hearing that's been prevented in Mass Recall though, but I can't say for certain.

You have to reinstall SCMR. You don't need to download anything else; just follow the install instructions.
