Was it considered —or is there plans— to do the Shareware/prologue missions? While easy (although that could be changed), I liked the final shareware mission although I don't remember the others. Blizzard also ended up making two bonus missions to go with that shareware mission series but was only available to the retail Starcraft.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to play SC2 Mass Recall again but every time I try to start it says 'The Launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available."

I double checked everything - I have the SCMR Cinematic in my Mods Folder, the SCMR Retro Mod in my Mods folder, and both Map Packs 1 and 2 in my Maps folder. I tried booting it through both Battle.net and the Editor but no luck.

Is this a common problem/ has anyone had it and fixed it?

Thanks for all the help.

Wait a second, he is playing ep2 map08 isn't he?
It seems that his uploads are rather late....I mean, compared to his state in the campaign. [or he just facerolled the last 2-3 missions in the terran campaign, and the 1st 7 maps of the overmind....]
Anyway, I'll wait for the YT upload.

I wanted to ask....what version is he playing with? I mean, 5.3. retro mod i guess....yet he got no cinematics, as far as I can tell....at least, in the options menu he only got 'cinematic notes'.

Crank did a bit of a marathon stream of SCMR, he finished the first three campaigns. It was glorious.

It looks like it might be 5.3 but with the non-cinematic map launcher/menu. I don't know if the lack of cinematics is intentional or not.

I guess he made that marathon because he likes this mod...Which feels good for you, I suppose.
I hope he's gonna upload 'em to YT. My net connection isn't good enough for stream-watching :|
And also, if he doesn't upload them, I'll never be able to watch them. [nor anyone]

I thought the non-cinematic map launcher wasn't playable.

I believe the marathon stream was to celebrate his 100th stream, I'm not sure he intended it to be all MR... obviously hearing from people enjoying the mod always feels good. Hopefully there are no major issues left with the mod and we'll get some relatively clean playthroughs.

And no worries, I believe Crank's people mentioned during the stream that everything'll be on youtube. I can see it taking him a while to get all of it up there.

And yeah, of course, the map unlock thing. It's definitely 5.3, the thing with the non-cinematic launcher is it does work, but only with the cinema mod even though it's not used. This is fixed in 5.4.

This should be fixed in 5.4.

The installer is just the file "scmrsetup.cmd.txt" ? When I try to open it it's just a text file.

What is going wrong here? I need to help Jim save a colony...

edit: I solved the program by downloading the file using internet explorer rather than firefox. I don't know why it worked but it did. I suppose it's because Firefox added the .txt extension automatically and IE did not.

Hey guys,

Edit: I got the scmrsetup and it says my SCMR mod archive appears to be broken. I tried re-downloading it, no luck. It says it needs to be copied into the starcraft directory - I've copied it into the Mods Folder as per the instructions. Am i missing something?

Thanks.

So some of you probably noticed certain sounds were missing in the latest SCMR version, 5.4. This was obviously a terrible, terrible mistake and the issue has been resolved in the 5.4.1 version, available now. You'll only need to download and replace the mod file(s) to get the sounds back, and the first map pack for some additional updates. Sorry for the hassle.

Go ahead - there's always different versions floating around file sharing sites anyway. We'd rather not link to these, though (the chinese version being the odd exception).

Yes, that subtitle thing did kinda slip through. My bad...

Ok. Thanks.
Btw. if you check this vid around 56:00, you can see that he clicks on the 'continue - hidden mission' yet the next mission is New Gettysburg

Yeah, that was unfortunate. This was corrected in the 5.4 version.

Why yes! Assuming you mean the Precursor/Loomings maps. They're included in the "extras" download, though they're not quite as polished as the main campaigns just yet.

Firefox just being protective, I guess. You can also simply delete the .txt extension and it should work.

Hey! Um, when using the installer you should have all the downloaded .zip files and the installer in your Starcraft 2 root folder - see the "Auto install using the SCMR installer" section on the mapster project page. Also your Starcraft 2 needs to be up to date.

If you can open a map in the editor, everything should be fine with your SC2 and the download, at least.

I noticed in the second mission of the brood war campaign's (Protoss ; Dunes of Shakuras) when i save the game and want to reload it , i get this message: "The mod data loaded does not match the mod data which was originally used to play this game."

Havent got it in the other missions until now, i installed the latest versions available with the SCMRretromod_v5.4.1.

Yeah, it only occurs on the 1st two missions of that episode. At least for me.
Did you use the SCMR installer or did you install it manually? Because Telenil & Jones thought that using the installer might solve the saving/loading problem since it's not using the editor at all [if I'm correct]

Does that mean it won't work with starter edition? [If the starter edition keeps updated, then I didn't ask this]

I also had the problem btw. But since I've had no problem with the manual installation, I didn't really bother to check it more times.

Great work on this mod, it's a blast.

After upgrading to the new version the cinematic add on doesn't seem to work for me. When the cinematics should appear I can hear the audio but can't see them (just show a blank screen)

I'm on a Mac so don't think I can use the installer.

Tried fully deleting all files and reinstalling but no joy. Any pointers would be great.

I did installed it manually, so that would have been the problem then, I only had it in the second mission, The first one i could reload, third also.

Haven't been up to date with the thread until recently. I'm going to make a new updated installation video for folks since my old one seems to be evoking rage from viewers even though it very clearly states that it's out of date. I think I'll still take people through a manual install in case the installer doesn't work for them... it actually didn't work for me either, it hangs on extracting the first map pack forever (yes, yes, I'm 100% sure everything is in the right place) so I'm thinking it may be a permissions issue. When I run the installer as an administrator, it throws out the 'files not in the right place' exception.

So, erm, guys... I just went to update to 5.4.1 (after giggling a bit at seeing the Firebat sounds thing getting corrected), and I noticed something.

Map pack 1/2 is up.... but 2/2 is not. Where be the Brood War maps?

Or will the 5.4.0 still work fine with the 5.4.1 stuff?

Quote from Jones
"Note that with 5.4.1 only the mod files and map pack 1 have been updated. As this is a pretty minor update, 5.4.1 files are fully compatible with 5.4 ones and vice versa. If you already have 5.4 installed, there's no need to reinstall everything - you can simply replace your files with updated ones. These would be the mod and a few maps listed in the change log."

So, they work together.

Is there a way to cheat-code jump to a certain level mid-campaign? I reinstalled everything and want to continue the Terran campaign halfway through. The tutorial-ish missions have always hurt my brain. Too complicated ;D

Obviously I can unlock all missions, but it's more fun to progress and unlock.

edit: regarding everyone's problems above me, I'm having none. This mod works and is a work of art. All I can say is that an easier to find download link in the OP, and a slightly more clear webpage that the link takes you to, would make it easier for people who aren't as gung-ho about this as us Barriers make quitters quit!

Yes, from the Launcher, go in Options -> Unlock all missions.

So random question:

What are the odds that someone has done/will do this same thing with WC1/WC2 in the WC3 editor?

I think that would be awesome as well.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Very low. Warcraft 3's editor isn't nearly as powerful, and there are a number of mechanical differences between WC1/2 and Warcraft 3. For one, the sheer number of units couldn't be nearly as high, as the game engine wasn't capable of handling as many units on the map as in WC1/2. Oil would be difficult to reproduce as well, though I imagine it might be doable... maybe.
