Plus, they're less mineral-intensive in exchange for taking up lots of gas, but you're given two free geysers, since you have the entire bottom edge of the map to yourself, you just have to protect it.

It seems that his uploads are rather late....I mean, compared to his state in the campaign. [or he just facerolled the last 2-3 missions in the terran campaign, and the 1st 7 maps of the overmind....] Anyway, I'll wait for the YT upload. I wanted to ask....what version is he playing with? I mean, 5.3. retro mod i guess....yet he got no cinematics, as far as I can tell....at least, in the options menu he only got 'cinematic notes'.

A lot of multiplayer instincts actually don't translate well to campaign-play. In multiplayer, exploring as much as possible as early as possible is fairly crucial, but in the campaign can quickly get you overwhelmed as you stretch yourself thin, and you activate too many enemies or events. This bit Crank in the ass as early as Backwater Station, though he compensated admirably. Incidentally, as for using heroes, I for one am an advocate of using the heroes to the fullest. They're beefed up, they're powerful, they kick butt. Let them kick the asses they are destined to kick! But, you simply have to be careful. Keep an eye on them, don't let them jump out too far ahead, and be ready to pull them out if things start to turn pear-shaped. Hell, Raynor can almost oneshot a Zergling - assuming equal upgrades, he leaves them in range to be finished by a single marine-shot. Kerrigan has similar power, and has the utility of a ghost, minus the nukes. Cloak and lockdown have plenty of uses. Fenix is just a wrecking machine in either incarnation, plain and simple - Infested Kerrigan EARNS her title as the Queen of Blades as well, what with dealing 50 damage a swing, and having storm to boot. So use them, absolutely, just don't get reckless with 'em. Keep an eye on their health, and don't let them jump too far ahead of the rest of your army. Yeah, I definitely agree. I do like, however, how in Starcraft One "hero" units, while good, aren't going to decide a game - it's not like Warcraft 3 or the HotS campaign where you need them with your main army at all times for it to be effective, it's more focused on strategy than managing your VIP units, or "heroes" (I just can't stand the word "hero" but that's my problem). Also T10 comes to mind as an example where they're almost more trouble than they're worth - Raynor can't contribute a whole lot on the battlefield, and you look away for two seconds and he's getting wrecked. EDIT: Incidentally, I find myself amused to discover just how many SCV's it takes to long-range-mine that damn geyser on Biting the Bullet without a 2nd command center. Amusingly, 12 SCV's means it actually costs LESS MINERALS to build a second command center and have 3 SCV's on it; 400 for the CC, and 3 SCV's for a total of 550 as opposed to 600 minerals for 12 SCV's. Don't forget the extra supply provided by the CC! Or alternatively you could just harvest the gas at a slightly slower rate. Ah, the complexities of the old single-player missions... Crank did a bit of a marathon stream of SCMR, he finished the first three campaigns. It was glorious. It looks like it might be 5.3 but with the non-cinematic map launcher/menu. I don't know if the lack of cinematics is intentional or not.

Haven't thought about that. On April 12 2015 10:24 Jones313 wrote: Crank did a bit of a marathon stream of SCMR, he finished the first three campaigns. It was glorious. I guess he made that marathon because he likes this mod...Which feels good for you, I suppose. I hope he's gonna upload 'em to YT. My net connection isn't good enough for stream-watching :| And also, if he doesn't upload them, I'll never be able to watch them. [nor anyone] I thought the non-cinematic map launcher wasn't playable.

[nor anyone] I thought the non-cinematic map launcher wasn't playable. I believe the marathon stream was to celebrate his 100th stream, I'm not sure he intended it to be all MR... obviously hearing from people enjoying the mod always feels good. Hopefully there are no major issues left with the mod and we'll get some relatively clean playthroughs. And no worries, I believe Crank's people mentioned during the stream that everything'll be on youtube. I can see it taking him a while to get all of it up there. And yeah, of course, the map unlock thing. It's definitely 5.3, the thing with the non-cinematic launcher is it does work, but only with the cinema mod even though it's not used. This is fixed in 5.4. On April 12 2015 16:42 Blazethesage wrote: If it IS the newest version, it's possible he may have simply disabled the cinematics in the options menu. Popping in to note however, that apparently the Overmind's speech at the end of Episode 2 map 10 (Full Circle)'s subtitles got broken. More param/whatever messages instead of the proper subtitles. This should be fixed in 5.4.

![]() Sadly, for me it's slightly delayed due to using the Retro Edition, which does take an extra day/two/whatever to update, but no big deal. I'm sorta stalling in recording the last Protoss Brood War mission for my own runthrough due to personal reasons, but I think I might wait to record the first few UED missions until the Retro update comes out so I can enjoy actually being able to use Duran against something other than marines ![]()

And CranK has (finally) uploaded 4 videos...all of them last 1 hour ~50 mins....woah :D [My lament is that he used a little worse pc] Is it a problem for you if I upload 5.4 to a storage website [mega], in case some1 got problem with sc2mapster? I remember at least one guy who could not download the stuff from sc2mapster. btw. On February 23 2015 22:01 Telenil wrote: Good point. We will remove the name next time we change something. Well done! Retro mod 5.4 is up. On April 13 2015 21:37 dRaiser wrote: Updating from 5.3 to 5.4 is safe for saves, campaign states and such? ![]() Saves, no. Campaign progress, yes - you won't lose progress by replacing map/mod files. @valas: Go ahead - there's always different versions floating around file sharing sites anyway. We'd rather not link to these, though (the chinese version being the odd exception). Yes, that subtitle thing did kinda slip through. My bad...

Btw. if you check this vid around 56:00, you can see that he clicks on the 'continue - hidden mission' yet the next mission is New Gettysburg Also, at 57:53 it's Nova's portrait [I mean, blonde hair] The nova portrait appears during her speech at the beginning of the mission and at the end. During the mission, it works fine [red hair] [e.g. 1:04:04] Since she got no custom portrait, I'd say that the problem exist in the standard mod as well. Gotta check it Edit: I checked it. If I had 'talking portraits' [3D] then it was Sarah [red hair]. But when I tried with static portraits [2D, as in Crank's vid] then it was Nova
