The Koreans did the same/ worse things in BW foreign tournaments so them getting pissed about this seems quite ironic.

lol like what? ROFLSTOMPING through everyone and making them look like a fool? That's ok in my book.

Like playing on eachothers accounts because no one could tell?

Its funny how people put Korea so high up on a pedistal when they dont have any idea how the buisness works. Its not better then anywhere else, if anything its worse.

We swear that calling Naniwa a pro-gamer is overrating him. Even considering that he is young and free-style minded foreign player, he forgot to remember that pro-gamers are meant to show the best games out of their ability to fans.

Does he make most of his money from gaming? Yes.
Is he therefore a pro-gamer? Yes.

This is moronic. It's like saying that calling Mario Balotelli a pro-footballer is "overrating him" because he does stupid shit. NaNiWa is a pro-gamer whether you like his attitude or not.

You no understand!!111 Koreans never get out of discipline and they never ever throw games either!!111 So, they really qualify for commenting that calling Naniwa a progamer would be overrated.

Some people must have though they would play for real. Most experienced fans know otherwise this stuff happens all the time although it is usually not as in your face.

Thank you CryingPoo for the translation and showing the Korean reaction to Naniwa throwing the game. Your efforts are appreciated. Those that want to defend Naniwa, go to ... this thread or here.

Then perhaps the Koreans should understand that NaNiWa isn't Korean and thus has different standards to them. They should then hold him to his own standards instead of holding him to their own. Holding people outside your own culture to your culture's standards and then crucifying them for it is incredibly arrogant.

Naniwa is a guest in their home. Not the other way around.

I'm sorry, but I see all the "professional organizations" (Gom, mlg, tl, quantic) taking austere positions of "o.0 --> >:|" but doesn't part of the blame fall to GOM? Their tournament structure is fundamentally flawed and puts players in a bad position.

A similar situation happened with ESV's Korean Weekly, and ESV.Diamond even had the honesty to admit that he was looking into a tournament structure that would prevent this kind of conflict of interests from coming about.

Awful article. I am disgusted by the Korean community and its hypocritical moralistic attitude. I lost a lot of respect for MVP and Choya for their tweets as well. Nanis decision was plain stupid but these reactions are even worse.

It's the last game of World Cup group stage, neither team can make it through to the round of 16. Do you ever see the teams walk out on the field and kick the ball in their own net?

No.

Way worse (in that it mattered), and it happened. Of course, because A: it mattered, and B: the audience was stuck watching for 90 minutes instead of being done in 2, it had consequences, but it happened all the same with no real negative consequence (improved laws of the game).

Wow that's really harsh. Naniwa became as good as he is because of one thing: HE WANTS TO WIN. If he can't win he won't play, so people should stop bitching about this and instead blame the tournament for the poor format.

I think the point is that SC2 is trying to establish itself as a professionl (E)sport. In any sport, you need to think about the others involved in every game, interview, etc... There are sponsors and a team behind you, paying for you to be a pro gamer, and go to tournaments. There is a sponsor hosting the tournament, willign to give you a nice paycheque for playing well. There are viewers who went to see you play live. There are viewers who PAID MONEY to watch you play. There are fans around the world, that want to see you do your best, and give them a reason to cheer for you.

Aside from this, there are other things, like betting and such, that require there to be integrity in your games.

This stuff isnt acceptable in any sport, and if SC2 wants to be taken seriously, it needs to be unacceptable in it as well. Defending these actions is being naive. Youre undermining all of those that had money and time invested in the game. On the surface, it may seem like "one stupid game that didnt matter anyway", but there are many factors at play, that make this kind of disrespectful behaviour (to the sport, to the opponent, to the sponsors, and to the viewers) unaceptable.

naniwa still has my support. he is, to me, more of a personality than a player to me (even though it's quite badass at being a player as well).
