No you're not. He's a professional gamer whether you like it or not. He is very good, if not the best, at SC2, so you can't really argue whether or not he's a pro-gamer no matter how much you might dislike him.

He doesn't have the professionalism and integrity to be called one

To me this is displaying in pure body language how a meaningless game feels like for someone truly competitive.

A meaningless game is still a match, he doesn't respect the match, he doesn't respect his opponent. That just means he doesn't have what it takes to be truly competitive

LOL no. Being a pro in anything means you can make a living of it. Has nothing to do with how good manner you have. Its like saying John McEnroe isnt a pro-tennis player for being a douche on the field sometimes.

TBH, I totally agree with this. You need to realize that people actually pay for watching him - or other pros - play. It's like showing up for work and not doing anything. Getting fired is the norm in such cases. Remember people, this is his job and he needs to take it seriously for the sake of the PAYING customers.

Actually no. He is not there to entertain you, he is there to win. Its GOMs job to entertain you.

actually professional means doing something as a profession which means doing something to earn your life.

but i don't think what GOM did was exaggerated. it was silly of him to do what he did. being in an amateur tournament may mean for you to forfeit your games. but this is a pro-game which means you play not only to win but for people to watch and enjoy.

i like naniwa's play quite a lot but it was very laughable for him to act like that. he deserves this imo.

cause if Naniwa killed a child, first thing first is to take away the Code S? I think GOMTV made the right choice, he completely disrespected Gom and (some) fans

I think the real issue here is that they wanted that meaningless match to be played between the two. Naniwa actually had the balls to show how ridicilolous he thought it was. If they wanted a good game between the them, they should have thrown in some kind of incitament for them to actually win other than the prestige.
Naniwa could either accept that it was meaningless and play the game or he could actually do something about it, which he did. That takes courage.
And btw why didn't Bratok & Stephano get any negative comments for trying to lose on purpose, because none of them wanted to play Sen?
Naniwa, you might have lost some fans by your forfeiting move, but you gained this player as one!

They first disrespected him by having a terrible tournament format with useless games.
And he didn't disrespect anyone, he played the game he wanted to play.

I get their decision. Naniwa "gave up" because he was pouting that he didn't do well.

GOMTV and perhaps the culture of Korea (where this took place I assume) expect more from someone as a "pro-player". Maybe they believe that a "pro" never quits and always does their best. I can see that, especially when people pay money to watch.

From a business standpoint, he could be viewed as unreliable and only likely to produce top efforts when things are already going his way. Based on effort in similar situations, who would you want to hire, Boxer or Naniwa? Naniwa whines often (true) and apparently gives up. Boxer says squat and always plays his ass off "for his fans."

I'd be pissed at Naniwa too. It was bad form. They guy is a good player but he's got some stuff to sort out personality-wise.

Maybe the point is that he's not professional. The adjective, not the noun.

I think they made the right decision. He clearly disrespected all of his fans and the esports community. Game throwing was not tolerated with CoCa, nor is it in any other sport.

I think we should just admit that there is cultural disparities, I am not very sure how the foreigners views it, so I can only explain things on my basis, but here in the East, Respect for your opponent, and what you do is pretty important. And disrespect and this case, Naniwa made a mockery of his match, and there for his opponent. It's pretty serious.

Thanks for the translation. I really like that we can have their view as well, so it is not getting buried in all the hate and flames (from both camps).

there's a saying.. "its your skills that get you the job, but its your personality that gets you promoted"

for the ones defending naniwa, i bet 99% of you are probably foreigners just trying to "keep it real" rather than having sound judgement, which is even more pathetic
