Throwing games is a "big deal" actually, in anything tournament related.

Something ridiculous happened. This may sound very emotional but Naniwa does not have qualifications to be a pro gamer.

On 13th December, one participant of Blizzcup, Naniwa, made everyone upset at the studio. Some staff members were not only panicked but outraged about what Naniwa did. In the 9th game where Naniwa was facing Nestea, Naniwa pulled all his probes and attacked Nestea's base then lost then called out GG.

huh? from what what i know, the production team didnt care, implied by torch's gf

Torch gf isnt GOM's employee, is she ?

It's the last game of World Cup group stage, neither team can make it through to the round of 16. Do you ever see the teams walk out on the field and kick the ball in their own net?

No.

how bout when team A can go thru to ro16 if they win against team B that has already qualified, and then team B brings out reserve squad so team C that is competing with team A for the second place to go thru to the ro16 gets screwed?

I turned off the stream as soon as the top 3 were decided . Sorry but the rest of the games didn't matter to me . I'm still confused on why people are taking this so seriously...

The tournament was over for Naniwa and Nestea after they were both 0-3.

Sheesh. I mean sure, it was wrong and bad mannered.

But going "OMG I DONT WANT HIM IN GSL WHAT THE FUCK THE SKY IS FALLING" is ridiculous. I know that Korea are very picky about their things but this is just stupid even by their standards. There is NOTHING GOMTV really -can- do, if they do it they are basically saying "YOU CANNOT PROBE RUSH!!!! banned from gsl 4ever".

If anyone is to blame, its GOM for deciding to continue to host a game with no value to the player.

Different game, in the world cup they have to be there for 90 minutes, they can't end it after 2 minutes.

As I mentioned in the other thread, Europeans and Americans to this very day still under-estimate countries whose culture does not revolve around theirs. This is going to get VERY bad flack from the Korean community. And they can say whatever they want about Naniwa, because at this point, he collectively insulted them. I hate repeating myself, but that's how it is.

The Koreans did the same/ worse things in BW foreign tournaments so them getting pissed about this seems quite ironic.

lol like what? ROFLSTOMPING through everyone and making them look like a fool? That's ok in my book.

They threw matches so they won't have to play each other.

I find the continuing support Naniwa receives both in the scene and from teams and tournaments disheartening. It's good to see a major site write something else besides "Oh, he's had such a troubled past, but he's all better now, and his skill excuses any antics that may come from him".

Naniwa is not a professional gamer. He's good, but that's it. He has no future in this business if he continues behaving like this.

Naniwa's conduct was rather unsportsmanlike, no doubt.

But this is just a very poorly written opinion piece. It holds pretty much zero weight.

"Nothing" to you based on your values. Basically you're making fun of the Gom staff's values, and probably Korean culture in general. Classy!

Do you know anything about Korean culture or are you just taking bits and pieces from starcraft forum posts and thinking you understand the culture of an entire country?

I know a good bit about Korean culture. Thanks.

Blowing shit out of proportion. It wasn't match fixing, he wasn't doing any harm to other players in the tournament, he was just "playing" the worst possible strategy because it didn't matter to him anymore. He can do whathever he want's if it's within the rules of the game and tournament. He could make 6 zealots and make them dance untill Nestea killed him.
I understand it's not good for tournament, but people are blowing this WAAAAY out of proportion. He didn't break any rules, he just forfeit the game in a weird way just because he could. That's it.
