Just found out that there will be no Super Tournament or World Championship in GSL 2012. Very sad about that. I found this video about two to three days ago, and when watched got chills all over my body (I mean all). Watching this live, while under depression and seeing White-ra beat MC himself was something more than a dream. If you guys remember in March I think when this Championship was played MC proceeded to 4-1 Julyzerg, being the best player in the world at that time. Seeing my countrymate kill MC in his best mu, got me motivated and not getting dropped out of university from another country. Huge respect to creator of the video...Hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

Yeah, it is a little disappointing, but I guess the up side, and maybe the reason they are not doing it, is that there are a ton of other international tourneys that will be going on, so we will see this great mix of players at other events.

I think they should partner with MLG more to make the true World Championships.

More Like Monthly WC - Minus most EU players. but its about to change i think.

Also, the most cool thing about WC was Korea vs World . Would be interesting to see same now. Imagine best 7 players of EU(White-ra, Dimaga, Kas, Nani, Thorzain, Stephano etc), NA (HuK, Idra, Kiwi) , and Sen . Foreigners and Koreans raised many stars that would be interesting to watch.

I remember watching this. I had no clue what I was really witnessing as I was just getting into Starcraft 2. Back then I wouldn't have felt anything, right now though, I have the "sickest nerd chills" ever.

I really hope we can get more of these team Foreigner vs team Korea tournaments, regardless of who organizes them.

Both of them are some of my favourite players, but I still don't think that game was very special :/. Hell, San went for Carriers in that match.

I didn't mind the SuperTournament but was not sold on the World Championship.

I think something like the Blizzard Cup (but more extended, i.e. bo3 group stages, and the rest bo5 with bo7 finals) is a better "world championship".

MC said after this that he didn't go all out intentionally to give white-ra false confidence for their upcoming TSL match (where he 3-0'd white-ra I believe). So this may not be as impressive as it looks on its face.

And the fact koreans literally treat that set of showmatches as ...showmatches. When the real tournament started for that event all the koreans won except nestea vs dimaga. I for one am glad they are removing that side event, its not really epic.

I am paraphrasing what MC said in an interview, I am not just making shit up.

Q: Just recently you lost to White-Ra’s warp prism tactics in the GomTV World Championship team match. Did this affect the way you prepared for your TSL game? For instance, you removed Shakuras plateau from the map pool…

It didn’t matter. During the team league I was trying to lead my opponent into being careless, so I didn't use 100% of my skill.

fuck that shit, the day MC doesn't play to win has yet to come. He played hard and lost, then he prepared better for white-ra's taktiks in TSL and won. Doesn't detract from grampa toss' victory here.

Well, there was literally nothing at stake in that tournament, they were just showmatches. So I doubt he "prepared hard" for that specific match even if he wasn't purposefully slacking during it.

Did you not watch the games played? San going carriers for one and MVP going for BC? Also did you not read some of the korean interviews after that event, they didn`t take those serious as the real tournament was coming up against the same players but with an actual prize attached. Then we started seeing them play completely serious and stomp the foreigners with more standard play.

Everyone knows koreans don`t play serious during Showmatches. For example those set of all-star matches before one of the GSL`s (MVP vs TOP)

Wow great video

Also yes that game was FUCKING INTENSE that level of micro was epic. As progamers (who are only managing 1 base lol) they really have no excuse to micro any worse than that. I hope we still get to see those kinds of early game aggression PvPs. I know it's boring to see like 4 gate from both players all the time, but now we are seeing PvPs get to the midgame better with less all-ins and such, but I hope we'll still see these short and epic games once in a while.

Also yeah good point MLG is basically the world championship. No Super... I guess the super is a little like the blizz cup anyways, and they also have the AoL now for the top players. Also no WC but yea MLG is pretty good at that I guess. But it's cool seeing foreigners vs Koreans but I guess that's not the point, there needs to be more diverse pool of players.

Amazing video, never saw this game before. So impressive by White_Ra keeping his cool after missing the forcefield on his main ramp that almost cost him the game, along with the decision to bring back those three zealots in the warp prism.

So, I have finals coming up and decided to take a break from studying and surf the internet. I stumbled upon this thread, and now, over an hour later, all I've done is watch random SC videos on youtube. I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon.
blah blah blah...

LOL then every progamer can say this excuse. You realize how arrogant (right word?) Koreans and how it is a shame to lose to foreigner and how this is carried from SC1? Its said to see foreign progamers fight best koreans and best players in the world and then someone like you comes up and says: "Oh he wasnt serious. Doesnt count.

I remember watching that tournament. So amazing. Two of my favorite players, and I was so happy that White-Ra won. It came at a time when PvP was stereotyped as boring and lackluster, but that game certainly wasn't! That's why I proudly wear his shirt ^^

It's too bad that there isn't going to be another tournament like that atm.

actually i'm pretty sure there's a consensus that koreans don't give a shit about showmatches. Just look at the SOTG after the showmatches before the top-mvp final. Artosis, day9, everyone ranting about how koreans never play to win in showmatches. I mean, do you really think MC cares that much about this showmatch when he has a chance to play him in a real set soon after?

Of course MC has to live with the fact that he lost, but we have to live with the possibility that he wasn't going all out.

I really think an organization should have a mini event Korea vs. The World. Putting say top 7 korean vs top 7 in the world bo3 each. That would really add to the "korean skill gap" debate

*edit*

sorry for being quite off topic, got the idea from someone on like page1 of this thread lol, a bit drunk ignore me.
